You'd think so, right? Cause it's very expensive for a society to have to deal with serious contagious diseases spreading more freely. But then I thought insurance companies would lobby hard for climate measures, since all the additional weather damage was supposed to be going to cost them a fortune. But that's not happening either.
Well, the damage is, of course. It's going to get much worse, too. Come to think of it, it's actually a really appropriate comparison for the terrible damage Kennedy is doing to the US in the long term...

The entire policy of political parties in the US, UK and co has been redistributing assets from the working class (and eventually middle class) to the very wealthy and billionaires. Then invent culture wars and other shit so people look the other way around. Of course, this asset redistribution did not build prosperity.

Wakefield has lived in the US since 2004, he was the bane of parts of my working life in the 2000/2010's when I worked on The Lancet website, the study in question was not a complete fabrication but he did lie about some of it in attempt to make himself a very rich man, and he fooled a lot of very clever people in doing so.
I'm sorry. You are right. To avoid any residual legal issues, it wasn't completely fabricated. Offering his kids friends money at birthday parties to take their blood probably speaks best to his ethical approach to research.

Local and State Goverments are the best hope, some of these have mandates about vaccinations and being able to attend public schools, that probably needs to be expanded to cover non-public schools as well but that might be difficult

Unfortunately this kind of thing is far more common now, and it's getting worse, the video below is worth a watch, reputable publishing companies are spending tons of money trying to prevent fale and fraudulant research, and TBH they're losing, you only need to see some of the COVID claims made in the media, citing unreviewed research as fact

I worked on the technical side, I still do, the content mostly goes over my head, but I work with people who do understand this stuff and they say the same sort of things, I remember those claims, made on the likes of Fox News, about COVID which were taken from pre-print servers, now they have lots of good stuff there but they also have a lot of shite, anyone can post stuff there, and the media was treating some of it as serious stuff
Paper mills are the biggest issue these days, IMO, they appear to be reputable but are most definitely not, the fact that Larry the cat was able to get over 130 citations to a paper created to expose the paper mill practices shows how bad it's gotten

So I saw something this morning that suggested they're not going to stop vaccinating for measles, mumps and rubella, just use of the combo MMR vaccine. Which means a lot more visits to the doctor, and a lot more vaccinations.
