Theres quite a variation of players in each of those set ups - so there are quite a few ways to skin a cat, with this set up. And with those teams, we know it works in the PL.

None of those teams has an AM playing in CM in there. Maybe this could be a hint for a few fans who still want to play a certain Portugese there
 
Bruno and Mount will give you enough work rate but it has to be Mount who is required to drop back to support midfield with Bruno playing almost like a second striker. The other way around wont work in my opinion.

If we need better ball retention then Mount can take Bruno spot and Mainoo taking Mount spot
 
Im going Mount and Bruno because i think Amad is best suited to the right wing back role of anyone in the squad.

The issue is with having Dalot or Mazraoui at right wing back is that their first instinct is to defend, so they will naturally fall back.

If you look at Sporting and their wingbacks are far more attacking minded and just so so at defending. I would much rather see the windback playing as midfielders than full backs, therefore i think its best to have Amad in there.
 
The thing is if Garnacho doesn’t start as one of the two #10s, he will be benched. He does not have the defensive discipline or the work rate of Amad to play as a LWB.

There will be plenty of rotation this season and I’ve here for it so we don’t depend on one or two players and our lineups remaining unpredictable for the opposition.
 
Amad and Mainoo behind Hojlund with Bruno at 8 next to Ugarte would be fantastic..
 
I pick Bruno - Amad as the obvious pair, but going back to FA Cup Final, Bruno and Mainoo was linking really well against City's midfield.

Is it something worth to try on, if AMorim insists of Amad as RWB?

LWB - Bruno - Mainoo - Amad

-------Ugarte --- Casemiro
 
Tough one. We need some kind of pace upfront, which would suggest either of Garna or Rashy play one of the two positions.

I would like to see the following two combinations tried:

Amad and Garna
or
Mount and Garna

However, we know Bruno is going to play...so Bruno plus Amad (who has decent pace) is the most likely.
 
Voted Bruno and Amad. But do wonder if he might drop Bruno in with Ugarte and then use Mount or Mainoo in the Gonçalves role.
 
Bruno is a curious one.

He's nailed onto start, but I cant see him playing in the deeper role at all. Just doesn't have the football IQ or discipline required there. Further forward fits him on paper but again I have my doubts, he's ridiculously wasteful and wont have as many players in front of him to pick a pass etc. He'll play regardless though.

Amad has done well at RWB so he'll probably continue there. Our options seem limited. Mount and Bruno seems the obvious one. Rashford cant play centrally behind a striker whatsoever, Garnacho will need major changes to adapt there, Eriksen is a beautiful footballer but he simply cannot run, Zirkzee looks so lost it's unreal how much confidence has gone from him.

So we're pretty much limited. Mainoo could play there, but that leaves the deeper midfield a bit weaker. We need major transfers for this formation to work
 
Hmm, I like both the suggestions of Bruno & Mainoo as advanced players or even Bruno playing as # 8.
 
It is almost a wasted season, we need to allow Amorim to experiment who is our best XI. I hope I see our star players drop in favour for players who are hardworking and put in a shift that means dropping Rashford.
 
Against Forest on Saturday I'd like to see Mount and Zirkzee there.

Zirkzee gives us another dimension as a target man that brings others to play, and Mount is a natural fit for that role.
ZZ is too slow for Arsenal but against low level opposition he should be fine.

It's December 2nd. What is this loser mentality? Thankfully I've seen a little less of it, but still the odd person wants to make out the season is a lost one, when it clearly isn't. We're very close to top 4, with three trophies to play for.

The manager will experiment, but it's clear he expects to win at the same time.

On paper it may look like two 10’s but Rashford doesn’t offer much in the build up phase, it worked pretty well with JZ with his ability to link up from deeper areas.
 
It looks like Amad is staying at right wing back instead of being tried at inside forward. He is thriving there so no need to move him.
 
Said it in the matchday thread, but would be interested in seeing Garnacho/Rashford as a pairing for the Arsenal game with Zirkzee up top and Bruno as a CM. Assuming we won't be trying to press super high, you could have those two staying higher up on either side while Zirkzee drops off to combine with Bruno/Ugarte in the midfield. Think you'd get plenty of transitional threat there. Think putting Bruno/Hojlund in 2 out of the front 3 spots is a waste, as Saliba/Gabriel will swallow up a traditional CF of Hojlunds level and Bruno offers little threat in behind or technical ability to receive balls under pressure, so he'd have an easier time influencing from deeper.

Yeah I really like the sound of that too.

This new formation gives us so many exciting possibilities though and I'm sure we'll see a lot of combinations as the season unfolds.
 
Yeah why is Rashford not listed? Obviously rasmus is up top and Amad is doing very well at wing back. Rashford and Bruno for me would be my choice.
 
The only slight quibble I have with Amorim so far is that he seems to be giving absolutely every attacker at the club a chance in the #10 role…except the one player who deserves it most & suits the role perfectly….Amad.

Watching Antony come on & go into the #10 while Amad stayed at wingback was incredibly frustrating.

Antony was far from our worst.
 
I think the idea is a runner and an advanced midfielder behind the striker.
So when the dust settles it will be Bruno +Garnacho/Rashford behind the number 9. Amad will stay at right wing back. Mount will get game time when Bruno is played deeper to rest Mainoo.
 
Classic issue this, insofar it's indicative of our scattergun recruitment.

There is nothing nailed on, is there? Nothing which picks itself.

We have a plethora of opportunities, options and possibilities but nothing concrete.

Nothing opposition would feel supremely confident of handling, anyway.

Usually this tactical inflexibility leads to the new manager buying their old staff at inflated prices. Can Amorim play another tactic efficiently?

We shall see.
