Some commentators on Twitter did say weeks ago that the 'real' price was lagging behind the 'trading' price and eventually it'll catch up. I guess this is what's happening? I don't know much about it
 
Hegseth is getting a bit of a roasting today and new information has come out that would explain why so many of the top brass are against him or have been fired. I'm not sure how much news this will get but it's showing staggering levels of incompetence that clearly cost lives.

He also slipped up in earlier questioning when he said that iran's nuclear capabilities were completely obliterated. That was obviously jumped on as he had previously said that Iran were a nuclear threat to the US and the world.

His approval rating is now at 34%. I believe that is close to his lowest ever including the first term. No post assassination attempt boost this time around.

Trump has just posted a Truth saying he's contemplating removing some troops from Germany. This coincides with him saying he's just had a 90 minute phone call with Vladimir Putin. I'm sure that's just a coincidence though as he has mentioned this a number of times recently, as well as removing some of the Troops from the UK too.

Good luck with that - basing is already close to maximum capacity in USA.

If you remember last month when the war began, I wrote quite a long post explaining how US has all kinds of anti-drone assets that they just refused / didnt deploy to the war, which made absolutely no sense.

That's one part of the problem. The other is what types of troops are in Germany. That's on one hand essentially Ramstein Air Base which surely won't be reduced in any way as it is their main logistics hub and needed for operations in the middle east.

And on the other there are some troops that are an important part of NATO fast response troops in Europe. Those could be reduced without hurting ongoing operations and would effectively be the next step in the USA leaving NATO.

This true, there are basically two things Trump has been consistent on in terms of military beliefs, or convictions.
One is the above, his position on NATO is that the US carries too much of the load; and second his belief that the regime in Iran should never be allowed a nuclear capability because they would be likely, in a religious context (i.e. martyrdom) to use it as a 'first strike' weapon.

If there are any ideals Trump holds fast, that are not just about 'doing the deal', its these two.
 
FT are reporting that Israel sent an air defense system to the UAE to help them defend against Iranian strikes.
 
So, I know that theft is a ceasefire, which is good.

But, I wonder if we got to a stalled situation, without clear end, and without anything being done to resolve it, thus possibly leading to another round sometime in the future?

What really sticks out for me in all of this is how many Americans want the US to completely pull out of NATO and are loving the troop reductions in the EU and are calling for all troops to come home and all bases to be shut.

It's bad enough they don't realise there would be no room and subsequently jobs for them if they did come home, but it's made even worse that none of these clowns calling for this to happen understand or realise how important these bases and troop deployment is. They really don't see that they are strategically placed so the US can attack or defend around the world without continuously having to move everything from the US which would be almost impossible in itself.

Obviously it's a mutually beneficial agreement between the USA and these countries, but still these idiots don't seem to get it at all. They would literally be isolating the US and handicapping one of the main reasons it was such a capable and feared superpower in the first place.
