I'm Johnson & Johnson vaccinated, one shot. Janssen.
No real side effects i think.
Where do you live?
I read the US paused the use of the vaccine 3-4 days back.. Google shows it was paused in SA as well..

Another angle on the global supply problem and the shortages faced by manufacturers globally. It's also a glimpse at why Pfizer (and to a lesser extent Moderna) seemed to be able to ramp up production while everyone else struggled. Hint: the US government invoked the Defence Production act which doesn't just stop the export of vaccine doses - it stops the export of items that US companies may need.

Hopefully once the US is vaccinated, they'll release the components as well as their spare vaccines. But I do worry that the talk about people's needing a booster in 6 months, will actually keep the global supply chain stalled, and the mutations escalating.

But haven’t Pfizer ramped up manufacturing at sites based outside the US? (i.e. in Europe) How are their EU sites getting the supplies needed to produce all the extra doses recently committed, if there’s an issue with getting essential supplies exported from the US?

Had my first AZ yesterday.

Side effects - Sore arm, slightly heady/lethargic & moaning like a big girls blouse according to the current Mrs YAMS49.

From what I've read, Pfizer (not unreasonably) have been able to get pretty much everything they've ordered, and had delivery prioritised - from bioreactor bags to lipids, to deep freezes and vials.

None of their US sourced supplies have been restricted by the US (or the EU, or the UK). Their EU plant already had its own (not US dependant) supply chain, or had components stockpiled before the shutters came down in January, and doesn't seem to have been hit by any of the minor licence controls on reagents.

A lot of other manufacturers aren't just having technical ramp-up problems (AZ and J&J had massive difficulties upscaling the reactor sizes) they're having orders de-prioritised or delayed. It's most noticeable with a firm like Novavax because it thought it had a supply chain, and could ship its own supply of specialist US components (like the bags) to India but they've had those orders pushed back or even frozen.

Ah. Ok. Gotcha. Hopefully the US will come to its senses once their first wave of vaccine roll-out is completed. Because the selfishness of their approach so far is absolute bullshit.

Only 0.008% of vaccinated people have then tested positive for Covid-19 and 40% of those are over 60 when immune responses reduce. Very few of those testing positive had serious symptoms. All good news even if many who do get infected after vaccination may not even know if the symptoms are minimal or none, so may not even get tested.

The EU has ordered another 100 million Pfizer doses for delivery in 2021, bringing the total to 600 million, almost enough for everybody. 310 million will be here by the end of June.

@Penna from May government approved rapid DIY tests will be sold in supermarkets across Italy for 7 euros each. I guess that's part of the plan for the vaccine passport.

That makes sense. I assume you've seen the latest about the proposed Italy-wide certification, to enable us to move freely around the country? I can't see them getting that organised very quickly - let's get people vaccinated first, that takes enough bureaucracy in Italy!

Just had my second vaccine today; AZ. Yet again, extremely busy but extremely efficient.
Thank you to everyone who has made this possible.

Yes, i think this is related to the travel certificate. They realise they can't only allow those with a vaccine to travel or charge people €70 for a PCR test. These rapid tests are being approved Europe wide supposedly.

India just opened up vaccinations for all ages from 1st May.. I have no idea how they'll manage the demand.. they had a target of vaccinating 270m high risk people in the first phase.. they have done less than 100m people so far.

I'll probably get it easily being in Mumbai.. but a lot of older people will have to wait now..

Looks like Australia is ramping up vaccinations using AZ to the over 50's with the state government taking charge or they will when our local production ramps up which is ?????? as the Feds have decided the best way not to totally miss targets is not to set any or tell anyone anything. No doubt #scottyfrommarketing is now producing a "how good is Australia" video to try to sidetrack from the fact he and his government couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

At the moment we have silliness like this going on.

I should receive my first Pfizer shot tomorrow, I know it passed all the trials etc, but I am still a little bit vary of the fact that it wasn't FDA approved yet, is it just a matter of some waiting time for more data or something?

There is no fully FDA approved vaccination to my knowledge (someone can fact check me on this) as this situation is unprecedented and our bureaucracy is notoriously incompetent to begin with. It was approved for emergency use. Edit: I got my first Pfizer dose a couple weeks ago, for whatever that’s worth.

It is in Australia. We just had the time to do so while we waited for supply.

Very good news indeed. Especially in light of what is happening in India at the moment.

Had my first AZ on Monday. Felt like crap yesterday, but fine today other than a little residual tiredness and a sore arm. I'll take that for 70% ish protection from Covid. Can't wait for the second jab.
Mine hit me like a train about 8 hours after getting the jab. Hopefully mine takes a similar course to yours.

Had my first dose of AZ at 1215 yesterday, just felt really tired in the evening. But right now I feel terrible; headache, aching legs, occasional shivering and my arm hurts like hell where the injection went in. But, worth it to beat this fecker.

Is there any country administering Sputnik V?

India has that available from next month.. wondering if that's a good option compared to AstraZeneca

I got my second Moderna shot on Monday. Mid-day Tuesday a fever set in and I had a bit of headache and fatigue through the afternoon, but I was fine by bedtime.

Every vaccine is a good option, even the Chinese ones as far as reducing serious illness is concerned assuming full dosage.
