Will the players be given time off?

We have two friendlies next week so any chance they'll (or other departees)be involved?

Would not expect Eriksen or Pellistri to be involved in the first friendly, the second one is possible

More likely they just join up with the squad whenever they are back in Manchester

Players returning should be game fit. So yeah this first friendly at the least should be about looking at the kids and non-selected.

Next one might be more of a team tune up with starters but I am looking forward to seeing the kids.

Yay for our Brazilian players having enough time to recuperate. Let's hope Argentina are next to go out and we also get Martinez back

Casemiro
Antony
Fred

On their way back. Disappointed for them but at least they get a rest.

Malacia on the plane home. Zero minutes played this tournament, should be fresh.

Would have preferred Lisandro but we're guaranteed a left back now and have a stand-in at right back.

I think we should recall Rashford, Shaw, Varane, Bruno and Dalot for the game tomorrow. I'm sure the player agree.

Absolute worst case for training late next week:

DDG
AWB - Lindelof - Maguire/Varane - Malacia
McTominay - Casemiro - Eriksen
Antony - Martial - Garnacho

Remember the last 4 teams are all guaranteed to play next weekend. You'd expect after both finals the players will get some days off. Those players won't be involved for Burnley cup game but will be back in time for Forest on 27th. For once the fixture list in somewhat kind to us in terms of playing a day after most of the other teams on Boxing Day.

Ideally we want our main players on the training ground as early as possible so Brazil was a welcome exit. Using games to find form and momentum is never good and it always ends up costing us points.

England out would be a blessing too mainly because of Shaw and Rash.

Interesting that Hannibal is actually starting a competitive game today, and personally I feel someone like Pellistri would have benefited from joining up with the warm up squad in Spain

We’re getting Bruno and Dalot back early which is a good thing. Hopefully Dalot’s injury is minor and nothing more.

Not sure about Dalot's injury buy we definitely have Bruno back at least.

If Dalot is fit, we're only missing our starting CBs and it might be only Martinez after today or we're back to Maguire and Lindelof which should be OK for Burnley

And we'll only be missing our starting CB duo for Burnley. Hope they are both back for Notts Forest or Wolves latest

Hamstrings can be unpredictable. That plus our dependency on Dalot worries me.

Annoyingly and worryingly Varane and Martinez are still in. Plus with the uncertainty with Dalot we might struggle in January with the defence.

They’ll all be playing in January .
Dalot and Co won’t be needed until the 27th that’s 2 and a half weeks away. And even at that it’s only Forest we are playing at home . Lindelof and Maguire will be CB’s v Burnley I’d imagine.

Come on, Burnley is only a EFL Cup game, we ALWAYS rotate in any domestic cup games, just by how many. What really matters is the Forest game on Dec 28, and the hectic schedule afterwards. Martinez, Varane, and hopefully Dalot, should be back by then, fit and hungry.

If Maguire and Lindelof are always destined to start in EFL game, then it is just the right back that is vacated.

Neither be back for Forest and unlikely for Wolves away. Whatever happens today, there is still 3rd place game at the very least for Varane. Those that went out in the quarters are back in on Monday, so both will have like 8-9 days off before they report back.
