Thomas Partey | 12th February 2026: Charged with two new counts of rape

Anyone with this hanging over their heads (and apparently the club had much more info than the fans knew) should be nowhere near the public side of an organization. He shouldn't have been on the pitch being applauded by thousands of people, he should not be speaking to media while representing Arsenal, he should not be displayed in promotional materials, etc.

It's not about legality, it's about morality. I'm so embarrassed and disappointed by this it's actually killing the new season excitement I normally feel.

.I maintain the biggest travesty here is that the police took four years to raise charges. I can't believe I am the only one seemingly saying that.
I think the biggest travesty is coming into a thread and thinking you are the only one with a specific viewpoint without taking the time to read previous pages and comments. If you did, you'd know that plenty of posters have condemned the duration and timing of the charges brought, and at the same time many have also rightly been critical of Arsenal's poor handling of the situation, too. They don't exclude each other.

At least someone has a moral compass

It's nice to know there are some sane people in here.

A joke Arsenal are hiding behind “the case is in court”.

"I'll go onto Redcafe today and post a silly potential conspiracy involving prostitutes, betting syndicates and insane supporters in a thread about a player charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault."

What the actual feck was that shit?

Fans knew though. Arsenal fans should have fought harder against this. I’m shocked they didn’t.

I'm not. If something isn't on the news people move on. I doubt most arsenal fans knew all these details. I certainly had never heard of the women contacting the club, for example.

I was shocked when I read the messages shared between him and one of the victims.

I appreciate that there the presumption of innocence, but anyone who read those messages would have known.

I'm not familiar with the UK Legal System, but my understanding was he was bailed. In Melbourne you need to be charged to be bailed, unless it's family violence related and it is to assure attendance for an Intervention Order hearing. But that would have been a fairly quick turnaround.

The Hakimi thread is locked. But he has been essentially formally charged by French prosecutors with rape. I don’t really understand the French system but it seems like a judge must approve the charges and, if that happens, he’ll go to trial.

Interesting to see what PSG does. So far they have handled things exactly like Arsenal, but that’s without the player being charged.

Firm believers in the presumption of innocence, it seems.

You will never believe who is Arsenal's next pre-season opponent. They will leave him out if they have some sense...

He is due at a court hearing in London tomorrow (August 5) while Villarreal, his expected new club, face Arsenal in a pre-season friendly at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Think it's crazy that Villareal are open to signing him without a verdict being reached.

So he will be probably be playing against Spurs tomorrow and then he will be in court on Wednesday.

Marcelino doesn't come across any better than Arteta.

"I am totally convinced that he is mentally prepared and technically prepared to play tomorrow," said Marcelino on Monday.
"For sure he will be ready. We are very happy Thomas is with us for his football capacity, football ability and his presence as a human." "He is a great player with a lot of experience. He has played for a lot of top clubs. We know he has a great level."

When Marcelino was asked if he had spoken to Partey about the hostility he could face from Tottenham fans, the Spaniard said he was focusing on the football.

"We're interpreting stuff about and talking about a player that could be totally innocent," said Marcelino. "We're playing a game of football tomorrow where the important thing is football. "This is where football was invented after all. Do you understand me? Thank you."

"are you not concerned that selecting someone currently on trial for rape might be a bad idea?"

"Football was invented in England, you know."

Might as well have just said Marco Bizot

Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against three women.

The 32-year-old was charged with each of the counts in July, following an investigation that first started in February 2022.

The allegations against the Ghanaian midfielder relate to three separate women who reported incidents which took place between 2021 and 2022, when Partey was playing for Arsenal.

Partey appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday and a trial date has been set at the same venue for November 2, 2026.

Quite amazing how Arteta and Arsenal escaped any proper scrutiny on this.

They have faced lots of scrutiny compared to, say, PSG and Hakimi, who is in a very similar situation with prosecutors requesting that his sexual assault case move to trial and yet nobody seems to care at all.

They’ve faced nothing let’s be honest here. Absolute farcical how Arteta faced no media backlash.

If that's farcical then what do you call PSG's level of scrutiny for Hakimi? Beyond farcical?

14 months before the trial even starts. Looking at nearly 5 years all in by the time this is done.

He's a cnut. So many Arsenal fans were loving the fact that they played for him and justifying it. "Colossal midfielder", "One of the best in the league", "Love him" were some comments from their subreddit. Nauseating fanbase.

He will have his day in court. Wonder if he's hired the same lawyers as Mendy.
