Thomas Partey | 12th February 2026: Charged with two new counts of rape

He's a cnut. So many Arsenal fans were loving the fact that they played for him and justifying it. "Colossal midfielder", "One of the best in the league", "Love him" were some comments from their subreddit. Nauseating fanbase.
Whenever people cheerlead for Arsenal and in particular Arteta, just remember they played him week in, week out, for several years, knowing exactly what was going on.

I think most Arsenal fans I know were disgusted and depressed that he was there so long, and particularly that he was all set to be offered a new contract. I wouldn't take the gremlins on X as the main representative of any fan base.

I'm unequivocally for innocent before proven guilty, and he deserves an unbiased day in court. That said, there is no shot Arsenal should have been playing him while this was going on way too many issues

Their fans are the only reason I want them to bottle it and hand city the league. Which is mad, because it's man city - we should be begging arsenal to win the league over them but their fans are just so unlikeable...

Arsenal fans who rightly condemned Greenwood but refuse to condemn Partey are scum.

Arteta looking more and more like the shameless cnut everyone suspects he is.

City banned Mendy, we banned Greenwood, but Arteta played him game in, game out, all season

"Why don't you want Arsenal to win the league?"

Hmmm...Why indeed

Well if they keep coming then it’s fresh in the mind and may make them think

He was in court 2 days before he signed for Villarreal and their announcement statement said "On the other hand, the club is also aware that the player is currently involved in legal proceeding in England".

They don't care.

Be interesting to see if his new club continue to play him now
Villareal fans were very vocal when they decided to sign him and the club ignored them.
He hasn't played a lot and barely feature but that's because his form has fallen down a cliff not because of the accusations... It's disgusting and i hope he gets done, he's a huge stain on Arteta's reign.

Agreed too. A private organization dealing with a situation like this isn’t a legal procedure. People have been binned for far less within sports and outside of it. Nagelsmann at Bayern comes to mind for his extramarital affair, though I also know that wasn’t the official reason he was sacked.

We officially sacked a manager for having an affair though.

Isn’t @Daydreamer an Arsenal fan?

(Daydreamer, apologies if I got this wrong, but if correct… what you hearing from the Arsenal fan base?
I am an Arsenal fan and I’m personally disgusted at how we handled things. The clubs hands were tied in some elements, but actions such as featuring him prominently on our website and social media and - worst of all - offering him a new deal upon the expiry of his contract, are absolutely indefensible.

Part of the reason I’m on RedCafe is that I tired of Arsenal-Mania (for completely separate reasons) so I don’t know what the reaction to the news is there, so I can only speak for myself.

feck Arteta for the way he handled this and even defended him. Scummy behaviour.

Well no we didn't. We sacked him for abuse of his position, ie sending her husband who worked for the club off on long scouting trips abroad so that he could be with his wife in his absence.

What a club. Continued to field a (alleged) rapist and sack a member of staff for posts critical of genocidal monsters.

I certainly was and the fans I know in real life were as well. I go online and see fans making excuses. Social media fans are the worst, it's like they delight in being on the wrong side of every issue.

Solskjær would have done the same thing, ten Hag would have done the same thing. About the others we don't know, but I don't see why we'd be optimistic.

City continued playing Mendy while he was out on bail I believe. It was only when he breached his bail conditions (can't remember what he did) and he was re-arrested that City officially suspended him.

United tried to keep Greenwood. Pretty sure I remember there was a whole press release about re-integrating Greenwood back into the squad and supporting him through the situation. Then after severe backlash from the football community, including a huge chunk of United fans to be fair, the decision was reversed and he was instead loaned out.

That's how I remember those two situations. Open to corrections if I've missed out on some details.

I think we wanted to reintegrate him after the loan, but minor details. You're not wrong that our ownership flirted heavily with the idea of bringing him back and don't really have much moral high ground, but at least they listened to the backlash

But they didn't. Arteta did
Solskjær did at Molde. He went as far as to say he believed the player days before the case went to trial.

The player in question, Babacar Sarr, was acquitted but ordered to pay restitution to the woman on the balance of probabilities (basically, the court thought he most likely did rape her, but didn't find it proven beyond a reasonable doubt). The case was appealed by the prosecution, and the dude is still wanted internationally for failing to appear before the court of appeals.

He was also accused of two other rapes. Molde were briefed about one of them while Ole was still there, while the other accusation came out shortly before Ole came to United.

Molde and Solskjær knew that their player had been found likely to have raped someone, they knew that the case had been appealed, they knew that there was one other accuser, and they kept playing him.

I know about the Molde story, but neither played Greenwood. Arteta played Partey and wanted to extend his contract
Where did Greenwood enter the conversation? @NotThatSoph said Solskjær would have done the same thing (keep playing an alleged rapist) and he did exactly that at Molde.

Besides, with Greenwood the recording and the pictures pretty much guaranteed he couldn't be played without significant backlash. Partey (and Sarr for Ole) were accused, and Partey hadn't been officially identified.

Had there not been a tape and pictures, who knows if Ole, EtH and United would have been as willing to sideline a player of Greenwood's talent and abilities.

I'm not saying they wouldn't or that it's impossible they would, I merely stated they didn't - which they didn't.

It's fair to point out that I apparently brought MG into this, kind of lost track a bit

You said that they didn't, but Solskjær did. Greenwood and Partey aren't the only rapists, and at Molde Solskjær didn't just keep playing the rapist, he promoted him to captain to show support. As a captain he went on to rape more people.

Molde then conspired with the rapist's agent, who happens to be Solskjær's best friend and business partner, to leave the country and escape the cops.
