Getting competitive minutes on loan in the Championship would do great for him - hopefully he can kick on after loitering around under EtH, and we can perhaps get a decent fee for him next summer.

Who do you think is then?If he was we wouldnt be loaning him out
Agree he most likely really doesn’t have a long term future here. But I think if we sold now we’d probably be scraping a few million. If he can get a half decent, 30+ appearances for West Brom this season we can look at selling him the next summer for hopefully low double figures in the millions.I just don't see why we keep a player like Collyer. He turns 22 in january - playing for a club that has a completely dysfunctional midfield. If Amorim really believed in him, he would have played for us regularly. If he hasn't succeeded so far - why should he do it next year when we probably have 2 new midfielders in place.
If he was 18 or 19 yes - fine. But we could probably raise a bit of money selling Collyer as he seems to attract attention - and we need the money now

Players mature at different speeds. People writing him off at 22 are very premature.
Completely agree. I felt the same way about Elanga.Players mature at different speeds. People writing him off at 22 are very premature.

I think we should first extend his contract then look to loan him out over a couple of seasons, first loan being in the Championship and monitor his development with a view towards a PL loan. We can make or save more money if we invest time in him because giving him a 40k/wk contract won't break us , financially, but it can give us more time to build him up to becoming a 30m player or if it goes well save us having to buy a squad player for 30-40m. His ceiling is basically where Ugarte is and we need to see to it that we help him reach that level.I just don't see why we keep a player like Collyer. Surely a better option at Ugarte and our most mobile option currently.
Was he not highly rated at Brighton for his passing?
Agreed I thought we should have kept him in the squad this season, he has more stamina, pace and strength than the others imo, so would have been useful as a Casemiro sub after 60-70mins.Was baffled by the loan as he looked pretty good in his appearances with us. Hopefully we see more of him soon.
It was to give him a year of unhindered development and playing time so that he could return to potentially succeed Casemiro or Ugarte. But as per usual we chose a rubbish loan destination that gave him neither. I hope once he gets fit we keep him instead of another loan. We wasted his 6 months for nothing. Was baffled by the loan as he looked pretty good in his appearances with us. Hopefully we see more of him soon.
Its not a given though. For example once upon a time a Gnabry couldn't displace anybody in the stoke XI. He has been at a Bayern now nigh 9 years...Hindsight is 20/20 but it was the wrong loan. WBA have strong CM options, and while it's valid to point out that if he can't displace them, Collyer is unlikely to make it at United...
I see you are having a very merry Christmas. Its not a given thogh. For ecampld Once upon a time a Gnbary couldn't displace anybody in the stoke XI. He has been at a Bayern now nigh 9 years...
He is injured afaik so not our most mobile option currently.Surely a better option at Ugarte and our most mobile option currently.

Amorin obviously doesn't fancy/rate him, there were numerous occasions last season to use him, especially as a sub, and he rarely ever made it on to the pitch, I'm surprised they didn't sell him last summerWas baffled by the loan as he looked pretty good in his appearances with us. 6 appearances last season when we were concentrating on the EL, if he can't get more time on the pitch under those circumstances he's never going to break thru hereIt’s more likely he was so far down the pecking order that they thought his development would benefit more from playing regularly at a Prem club than sitting on the bench all year because we only play with two midfielders.
