Going to be tough to name any films from 2020.

So I'll do 10 albums instead in no particular order.
Adrienne Lenker - songs + instrumentals
Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher
The Strokes - The New Abnormal
Bob Dylan - Rough and Rowdy Ways
Haim - Women In Music Pt III
Run The Jewels - RTJ4
Grimes - Miss Anthropocene
Gorillaz - Strange Timez
Bright Eyes - no idea what the album was called
Sufjan Stevens - The Ascension

I could do a top 5 films I've watched this year but the majority of them weren't produced or released this year so I'm just wasting time writing this.

Been a crappy year for movies & ive been busy working and studying. But here’s a few of what I watched:

Tenet
I’m thinking of ending things
Palm Springs
Da 5 Bloods

Don’t really have a number 1. Maybe WW could be a late contender.

Don't think I've seen any films in 2020 apart from the latest Borat one and I'm not sure that counts.

So on to albums it is:

1. Deftones - Ohms

2. Code Orange - Underneath

3. Biffy Clyro - A Celebration of Endings

4. Creeper - Sex, Death & the Infinite Void

5. Loathe - I Let It in and It Took Everything

Music
- I See - Cam Cole
- The Bonny - Gerry Cinnamon
- Live at The Royal Albert Hall - Arctic Monkeys
- Folklore - Taylor Swift
- We will always Love You - The Avalanches

Movies have had a rough year. Parasite blew me away though. Only got to it in November. Worthy of all the praise.

Edit : Palm Springs was the most enjoyable movie I saw this year. The King of Staten Island was also fun as hell.

Another Olafur Arnalds fan! Don’t see many! Really liked Some Kind of Peace, but think I preferred Re:member - totally different discussion mind as not released this year of course.

I can't remember of a film released this year that I watched other than Borat.

Great year for new music though, I've got a playlist on Spotify of everything I've checked out which came out this year, and it's massive. I'll need to try and trim it down.

Think the only film I saw from 2020 was Tenet, which I quickly lost interest in.

Thanks to the switch to WFH I listened to a lot of new albums though. Favourites:

Rina Sawayama - Sawayama
Jeff Rosenstock - No Dream
BC Camplight - Shortly After Takeoff
Adrianne Lenker - Songs
Charli XCX - How I'm Feeling Now
Fiona Apple - Fetch The Bolt Cutters
Poppy - I Disagree
Yves Tumor - Heaven To A Tortured Mind
PVRIS - Use Me
Perfume Genius - Set My Heart On Fire Immediately
Moor Jewlery - True Opera
Gleemer - Down Through
Dorian Electra - My Agenda
Working Men's Club - Working Men's Club
The Strokes - The New Abnormal
Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher
Gorillaz - Strange Timez
Ela Minus - Acts of Rebellion
Dogleg - Melee
Kelly Lee Owens - Inner Song
Sufjan Stevens - The Ascension
Nothing - The Great Dismal
Special Interest - The Passion Of
Katie Malco - Failures
Caribou - Suddenly
Christian Lee Hutson - Beginners
The Innocence Mission - See You Tomorrow
Coriky - Coriky
Andy Shauf - The Neon Skyline
Godcaster - Long Haired Locusts
Momma - Two of Me
Katie Von Schleicher - Consummation
Crack Cloud - Pain Olympics

Biggest disappointments were probably the albums by Tame Impala and US Girls, both of which were drop offs in quality from their previous albums.

Yes, Re:member is better :)
His concert at Harpa in Reykjavík in 2018 was one of the best gigs I've been to. Totally mesmerizing.

Don't think I've even watched enough 2020 releases to make a top 5. First Cow is definitely my favourite that I've seen.

According to last.fm my 5 most listened albums are:
Momma - Two of me
Tricot - 10
Waveless - Sugartree
Tricot - Makkuro
Lomelda - Hannah

The Momma album that sullydnl also listed is by far my favourite - I can't remember an album with as many immediate songs since Alvvays' s/t. If I thought harder about it, some of Adrianne Lenker, Protomartyr, Cafe Racer, Holy Wave, Kairon irse, Nels Cline Singers or No Joy might make it into a top 5.

No long plays, but Katarzyna Wiktorski has also put out some great music this year.
