Tosin Adarabioyo | Signs for Chelsea

IMO he falls in the category of a nice-to-have backup RCB but he's not a need-to-have. If we're selling both Maguire and Lindelof (on top of Varane leaving) then it could prove a good bit of business getting him on a free. That said, my guess is that Maguire will still be here next season so we don't really need Tosin but a starting RCB.

With Varane and Evans leaving I cannot see Lindelof and Maguire leaving, in fact wouldn't be surprised if neither left. That said, Tosin would be a great free signing.

Seems like a no-brainer to me:
- PL experience
- Free transfer
- Reasonable wages
- Young
- Tall

We over looked a free Youri Teleimens last season and look how exposed we was in the middle park. We can't afford to do same here again.

Chelsea now in for him as they have a very thin squad.
Yeah but the owner is collecting young CBs. Probably stores them in a glass cabinet

Chalobah has been rumoured to be leaving since last summer. Fans want him to stay but getting Tosin in for free whilst getting £20m for Chalobah probably feels like good business for Eghbali and his posse.

Also worth noting Silva has now left.

Even if Chalobah goes.

Fofana, Colwill, Disasi, Gilchrist, Badiashille, Sarr - will all be with you next season?

Sarr isn’t part of the first team. He’ll either be sold or he can hang around Cobham until his contract runs out. Gilchrist is a CB yes but his role so far has only been third choice RB. Fofana has barely kicked a ball for 2 years.

So the CB group with Chalobah gone would be Disasi, Colwill, Badiashile and Fofana, who’s missed almost 2 seasons of football. I don’t think adding Tosin to that group is overkill. Would rather just keep Chalobah though. He’s just as good.

I wonder are him and his agent looking for outrageous terms and signing on fees because he’s available on a free?

He’s a great option in a free to help keep funds for signings elsewhere, but that only works so long as he isn’t demanding £150k a week and £10m each for him and his agent.

Let Chelsea have him for that.

Every player I’ve seen linked to anyone relevant this summer has always come with an ‘also being pursued by Chelsea’ line to end the sentence.

With concerns over FFP I’m surprised we haven’t seriously pursued this one. Is he not as good as people are making out or is it a case of we’re just not that interested? I certainly hope it’s not a sign of us dithering again in the market as I hoped those days would be over with INEOS coming in. I guess we’ll find out over the next month or two.

There are no concerns with FFP this year.

why’s there been so much noise about FFP then for the last couple of months in relation to our summer transfer business? Is this just a tactic from the club to prevent us being rinsed again in the market?

I imagine its just football journalists not being armed with the facts, same as it ever was.

I think it possibly has to do with Ashworth and to be seen to not be competing for Newcastle targets while the other stuff rumbles on. We’d have heard more surely otherwise? Like he rejected us etc. I wonder will he play much at Chelsea? As a rich person I’d rather stay in London than move to Newcastle also to be fair.

We should have gone for him. Be a decent option for free. Let’s have another summer of Chelsea robbing everyone els targets again

Mostly because our name sells and most of those journalists don't go through all the detailed Swiss Rumble*' financial data, it's easier to sell the story by seeing how bad we did and why we are looking at players out of contract instead of offering Mbappe 1000000k per week or smth. We are a lot less restricted this summer than we were in 2022 and 2023.

I get it from an FFP point of view but meh.

It’s likely means the end of Chalobah. Helps the books to get a free transfer in whilst getting their beloved pure profit on the books but yeah, I’m very meh about this if the cost is Chalobah.

Oh my god, I can't believe we aren't signing this player that we may not want/may not want to join us. Nothing has changed.

I'm very whelmed. Hope it's Thiago Silva cover instead of Chalobah replacements but I fear it's the latter.

Lindelof and Harry are out of contact in 2025 unless there's an option to extend. Even so we would be better off to sell them this summer, given Harry had a decent season and we won't have many more chances to get some money by selling him, and Lindelof is just shite.

Tosin is no worse than Lindelof and would have been a fine 3rd/4th choice. This is typical of United.

I always wondered how the f we missed out on Haaland given the Ole connection. Well same with Tosin and the Wilcox connection.
