After the shit show of the manager and Levy things seem to be settling down, new goal keeper in, Bryan Gil in and Romero looks like it shouldn't be hard to tie up with Atalanta set to make a massive profit from doing not a lot. Still a question mark over Harry of course but will have to just run with it. Didn't see a new season thread so I started one, all the others one seemed to be negative for some reason. I am sure a mod will put a nice positive spin on my title.

Already Bales wages gone, Lamela's gone and now Toby's (got £12M for him too).

Players to be sold:
Winks, Dier, Sissoka, Aurier

Think top four is already bolted on with City, Liverpool, Chelsea, United.

Arsenal, Spurs, Hammers, Everton, Leicester all a notch below those four in terms of squad depth and talent.

Arsenal are below that bunch you grouped them with.

Arsenal don't have worse players than the likes of WH and Everton. They have a lesser manager though

I think if Villa can keep Grealish this year they will be up there to

What do we think for first team?

Lloris

Doherty
Sanchez
Romero
Rodon
Reguillon

Hojsberg
Ndombele

Gil
Kane (or new CF)
Son

It could go either way at the moment. CM options aren’t really there yet, and I feel like they are still short at the back, especially if they want to play 3 CBs

It’s useful that Doherty can go back to what he does best and Reguillon should relish the chance to be more attacking too.

I think they are lacking CB options and a quality box to box CM.

The may be better letting Kane go, because the depth isn’t there at the moment and there are no guarantees about his future contribution with his culmination of injuries.

Kane is done at Spurs imo, wants out, dont think he will throw the toys out of the pram. But at 28 he is not waiting around for another rebuild under a new manager. Yada yada gentlemen's agreement with Levy, will see how that pans out. In the end Modric and Bale got the big ticket moves they wanted. Id imagine Spurs will be looking at Ings or Jiminez up front, Ings will be cheap and it is Spurs/Levy so I would say that is the most likely scenario.

Gil will not be a starter, he is 20 or something isnt he? Looks like eyes on the future with that buy, he will get plenty of games in the conference nobody league and cups mind. Id imagine first team Spurs will play Moura or Bergwyn out there.

Id expect to see Skipp and Lo Celso in rotation in midfield for Spurs, depending on the game. Sissoko and Winks gone, one is past it, the other simply never improved enough to be playing at a club that wants top four.

for CB thought they were in for Kounde? Alderweireld gone, I would imagine one of either Dier or Sanchez going so yes another CB incoming.

I do see Alli staying on another year, see what comes of that.

Now that Jose has gone, I fancy Spurs to have a decent season. I think they lack the quality in the first team and the depth in the squad to make top 4 (unless several other teams have total mares like last season) but their first team is pretty decent. I think they have an outright better team than Everton & West Ham, a more balanced squad than Arsenal, and if Kane stays, those guaranteed goals could give them an advantage over Leicester, given that Vardy looks to be on the wane, even if Leicester look better in most other depts.

I think it would be a mistake for Spurs to let Kane go. Yeah their squad lacks depth and they need better CB options, but goalscorer are one of the rarest commodities in football, you don't let them go if you can help it. Of course it may end up being so messy they have no choice.

Gil will be in contention for starting, he played a full season in Spain and been capped for the Senior team. We don't spend that kind of money and get rid of Lamela for a bench warmer.

Not expecting much at all from Spurs. Nuno signing feels like an acceptance their chance of achieving something is over

Levy really made all these signings after poch checked out of Tottenham. They could have been something if they had invested in the summer of 2017 and 2018.

Must be frustrating for Spurs fans to go from a future of promise to this.

Kounde doesn't want to play in the Conference League. He originally wanted to go to Real Madrid but looks like he's going to Chelsea instead.

They need to sign Martial and sell us Kane. Kane wants a move to a proper club, Martial needs to feel like a big fish in a small pond. It'll be best for all involved.

It looks solidly mid table. Obviously Kane, adds gloss.

I wouldn’t have thought Gil will be a starter. He’s only played for lower league sides in La Liga, and hadn’t yet established himself at Sevilla. Think he has been in the bench for Spain’s Olympic side. He’ll be one for the future.

Isn't Veal tier 1 for Spurs? Please do correct me if I'm wrong; not trying to WUM or anything.

I don’t think Spurs would spend that sort of money on someone who isn’t going to challenge straight away for a starting place!

He may go defensive and play 3 in the middle with Kane and Son up top I guess, but they don’t have the depth for that at CM.

Without Kane, I don’t see the lineup as any better than what Nuno had at Wolves.

Seen that myself, and honestly never heard of him, the fee is mostly reported at 15M Euro, but with anything who really knows.
Fair enough! Actually have just looked it up and he still had two years on his contract - so that fee you've posted isn't outrageous in that context. For some reason I was thinking he was in the last year of his deal.

They need to resolve the Kane situation, if they’re selling then they need to get on with it quickly and bring in a decent replacement(s).

Or most likely, sell last minute and bank the money…..

Even with a replacement they’re fecked without him. They’ll never get anybody close to as good.

The spurs midfield and attack without kane is till superior to what he had at wolves. Moura, Son, Bergwijn, Alli and Gill are better than you give them credit for. so are Hoijberg, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Skipp, even winks and Sissoko

Expect the usual from them. Dele Alli must know he's got to turn things around quickly.

Son the only star there now for me, the rest you could easily see them plying their trade in Everton or Leicester's first team. Bergwyn still mostly unproven, Alli has tailed off, needs to focus on football not Fortnight or his fashion brand. Moura blows hot and cold, tbf on his day he is class. Ndombele jury is still out, could be Taraabt 2.0, does one crazy bit of skill then just jogs around losing the ball. Hojbjerg I will give you was a sensible purchase by Spurs, and has really helped make that midfield better. Skipp academy player who will need time to get up to speed. Winks and Sissoko had so much promise at one point, Sissoko is past it now, Winks never improved really, still the same player he was at 22.

And the less said about the defence the better, Sanchez, still looks the same rough diamond for spurs as the first season they bought him. Dier, average, sure squad player, should not be a starter. Rodon? Another unproven player.

Not sure who will finish higher, Spurs with no Kane or Arsenal with a disinterested and past it PEA.

Ndombele will be alright. The problem was Mourinho. I expect Lo celso to be even better this term
Bergwijn was only stalled by injury. He stays fit he will be a weapon.

The defence though is likely to be populated with talented buy unproven kids. Roden, Romero, Tanganga etc Yet I believe Nuno can groom them well. I honestly believe if Spurs can hang on to Kane 1 more season, Yet add a striker like a Raul of wolves level striker. They will be better than all teams bar what is expected to be the big 4 of cheslea, m. united, city and pool

God if Kane leaves Spurs they will be utterly fecked. Feel abit for Spurs (Glaston aside) as I’ve always liked them more than our other ‘rivals’. They simply never stood a chance staying at the top with the lack of investment and some of the crazy decisions made at the top.

I don’t think they are THAT much better without Kane and Ndombele would need to find consistent form and fitness to make the difference we know he can do.

Remember that Wolves peak with Nuno had Jimenez and Jota, an extremely underrated partnership.

His midfield had Moutinho (when he could still run) and Ruben Neves, which is right up there.

I am not underselling Spurs, but part of the reason Nuno did so well at Wolves was because he had very good players.

That's fair enough. I'm simply arguing his current players are on mostly on a higher level. Not just Kane and Son. He has options both in the first 11 and on the bench. Even under Mourinho, before he fell out with his players, Spurs did show how devastating they can be. I fell people are seriously under estimating both their current crop of talent and their new manager. I believe they will be stronger than Leicester. Even with their recent additions

I think we arent in that bad a shape, well not as bad as some people would have us believe.
