Transfer targets from relegation threatened clubs

I like Bergvall from Spurs, but I guess it's the Swede in me that's talking. Don't know how he would fit in the team either.

No he doesn't really seem needed at United.

It would surely be cheaper and more sensible to sign Matias Siltanen direct from Djugardens instead?! Seems just as good as Bergvall was, but is more of a profile which United would need.

(I'm aware he's Finnish)

I'm prepared for pelters for this but I don't mind that Argentine spurs CDM that's injured ATM. Can't recall his name
Are you on about Bentancour? If so, hes Uruguayan.

EDIT: Just saw you further down the page saying you realise he's not Argentinian

You don`t have to be Swedish to think he is a big prospect. He is.

Just turned 20 and is already a big and strong guy with decent pace and seems quite well rounded with his skills.
Been unlucky with injuries so far but we should definitely keep an eye on him.

Yes indeed - apologies to all of our Uruguayan and Argentinian Cafites. Honest mistake!

Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes should probably both be on our shortlist for the summer regardless of who gets relegated.

Anderson/Murillo
Fernandes/Diouf/Summerville

I’d take Bowen as well to rotate on the right side if he was available for the right price, but probably out of consideration due to his age.

Looking at our backup GK situation, I think Johnstone from Wolves might be someone we should look at. Homegrown, PL experience, from our academy. Is he good? Maybe not enough but he can be our #2 and potentially someone like Heaton, when he retires and he has a similar to him in his role. I'm sure he'd be open to the move, but we need to shift out Bayindir and Onana first.

Joao Gomes. A top midfielder.
Ugochukwu.
If West Ham go down: Mateus Fernandes.

anyone else hoping forest go down so the Anderson Tapes are wiped?

i think we are going to do something incredibly stupid come the summer, either he, Baleba or worse on an inflated fee we can ill afford.

Anderson is getting signed by one of the big few even if Forest go down and the feeling won't drop too much as there are too many clubs interested in him.

Think there's a lot of rumours that's nailed on, makes the most sense considering Lammens is now undisputed no 1. Makes little sense to spend much money on another keeper.

Van Der Ven from Spurs, Anderson and Sangare from Forest, Fernandes and Diouf from West Ham and Mane and Johnstone from Wolves.

Been touting Johnstone for a while; almost makes too much sense. Good enough to be a number two for a couple seasons before taking over the Heaton role as a home grown, third choice veteran. I know people rate Vitek, but I don’t think his development would be served by sitting the bench. Ideally look to loan him to one of the sides that comes up this summer.

I’d also look to take Archie Gray from Spurs if they went down. I think he’s done well for someone so young, in a shit team, that’s been shunted around positionally. Not as first choice, but as that additional midfielder to an Anderson/Wharton/Baleba type signing.

Just me who thinks Van de Ven is wildly over-rated. He's absolutely rapid and very athletic, but in a better side he'd be chucked to play LB. His positioning is poor.

I really like Van De Ven, but that may be a personal preference because I love CB's who are rapid. Another reason I loved Bailly right to the end despite his issues

Much rather Murillo if we're nicking a left footed CB off any of them

I genuinely wouldn't take any Spurs players, they're dreadful.

Pretty much all been shown up to have terrible attitudes as well. Collectively and individually shite, which is why they've ended up at that end of the table two seasons on the bounce, and there's zero fight in any of them.

Over rated and injury prone! He's had loads of hamstring injuries in the last few years too, so i's only a matter of time before he loses that pace.

He's not finished, he's only 18!

Apologies accepted, sort of

I remember back when Spurs signed him I wondered why we didn't take a punt. Good player, well rounded, can adapt to different midfield roles. He has been injured quite a lot though :(

Totally agree on Vitek too. He needs games, not to be sitting on the bench. It makes the most sense now we know Lammens has adapted so well, so quickly.

Great shout actually, although the leeds link may not do us any favours!

Quite like the young-and-learning centerback market, with regard to Forest and Tottenham in particular (at least one of them will go down, surely?) Luka Vušković and Jair Cunha have the skillsets to establish themselves as good starters at Premier League level. Maybe we could sign them (if the price is right!) and loan them out. The former is already on loan at Hamburg, so it would be a continuation of his developmental trajectory.

Yes. Another young-and-learning player. We could sign him (if the price is right!) and loan him out. Playing regularly can do wonders for the development of young midfielders and defenders. Will qualify as a “homegrown player” in the near future, too — we'll need more of those to prepare for Maguire, Shaw and Mount's eventual departures. Mainoo will qualify as one soon, Heaven is not too far away, and the addition of Gray would further consolidate our position.

I don't think Spurs are gonna sell anyone young if they do get relegated, it'll be older guys. I'm not sold on VdV I think there are better choices for the price they'll ask for.

Sangare from Forest is a good shout, I just don't know if they'd sell both him and Anderson to the same team. It might be a situation where they block two players moving to the same team

Mane from wolves. Diouf from West Ham, his crosses are quality and Sesko would thrive. Obviously Anderson from forest but he looks city bound.

If Spurs go down, Luka Vuskovic will be a steal! We could even loan him out to HSV for another season as that seems what he is wanting. But this boy is absolutely amazing and a future world class defender.

I agree. I really like Gray, easily their best player last night (low bar), but it’ll be Romero, VdV, Solanke, Gallagher and co that’ll go because if the wages. Imagine they’d look to build round Gray, Bergvall, Tel, Udogie etc

Wanting to sell someone and having to do so because they want out are two different things.

What’s in it for the player to be immediately loaned out?

Why not just stay where they are, and in a years time be in a far better place for a move?

I asked a spurs fan about Xavi Simon. I thought he's had a disappointing season given the hype about the lad.

Surprising answer was, he's playing with inferior players at spurs who aren't on his wavelength. So he tries to do too much and overplays. Put him in a top team and he will be a very good player for that team.

Personally I don't see it. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think he'd be quality at us and a great option on the left. He definitely tried too much, but he's direct and definitely makes things happen. I don't think he's much different to Summerville, he was pretty slight in his first season in the prem and he's hot property now he's filled out. I think he'd be a great market opportunity and we need a left sided attacker.

Don't really think Sangare is someone worth looking at. He's been pretty average at Forest for the most part, only really found form when Dyche joined.

Tottenham:
  • Archie Gray - Depth option who could develop into a starter longterm.
  • Xavi Simons - Depth option for LW & can play 10 in rotation with Bruno.
Forest:
  • Elliot Anderson - 100% Starter
  • MGW - Rotation with Bruno for right price
  • Murillo - Compete with Martinez for starter role.
  • Sangare - Depth replacement for Ugarte.
West Ham:
  • Matheus Fernandes - Depth who could potentially be a starter.
  • El Hadji Malick Diouf - Compete with Dorgu for starting LB role, long term replacement for Shaw.
Burnley:
  • Lesley Ugochukwu - Depth was highly rated before Chelsea.
Wolves:
  • Matheus Mane - Long term option, adding depth and allowing to develop through a loan.
  • Andre Gomes - Depth replacement for Ugarte.
I am not saying sign all these players, but I would certainly look at using these sort of players to fill out the squad with clubs having relegation clauses in them.

What’s in it for the player to be immediately loaned out?
  • Signing for a club that is greater than Tottenham and Forest
  • Signing for a club that seems to be on a better trajectory than Tottenham and Forest
  • The chance to get fast-tracked at a major club if they do well on loan
  • A more lucrative pay package in comparison with what they are currently on
Lots of young centerbacks were signed by big clubs and loaned out because, while talented, they weren't quite ready for a starting role (and being a backup would have hindered their development.) Like Bastoni, who was signed by Internazionale and loaned back to Atalanta followed by a spell at Parma. Or Saliba, who was signed by Arsenal and loaned back to Saint-Étienne followed by spells at Nice and Marseille.
Why not just stay where they are, and in a years time be in a far better place for a move?
They can stay at Tottenham and Forest if they want to, they're not obligated to join Manchester United.

I'm going with the following

Archie Gray
Mateus Fernandes
Joao Gomes
Hugo Bueno
Elliot Anderson (Obvs)
Murillo
