My guess, is his wage may take some cut hence they reflection part?! I meant he was in the France NT before that doping incident then being left out of L'pool team; he should be jumping about getting back to first team football now with how only CP wanted him.

Id rather not risk getting lumbered with him because we got greedy
Fair point. My last post only counters about how your previous post placed too much credit on actual performance while these Chinese clubs has signed some outcast players paying more: bench material Jackson Martinez, Lavezzi, Oscar, Obi Mikel, Ba... and Pato just joined the league.

Seems more like a summer target to replace Costa, makes no real sense now to have him sit on the bench alongside Batshuayi or take Batshuayi's spot of just sitting there. Been great this season, probably only just behind Higuain and Icardi in terms of Serie A strikers.

Transfer deadline day seems to be becoming a smaller thing each window. Is this because teams like to get their business done sooner these days?

Or is it because it's becoming so overhyped it's just looking worse?

The financial aspect of paying £10m more for a player (for example) just because it's a panic buy and the last day of the window would probably be enough to put a lot of teams off!

Less teams are doing business in it. Hard to put the finger on why exactly. Pretty much every transfer has just been players moving between Hull, Burney & Watford.

For perspective, United signed a player in every January between 2005- 2015. But didn't sign a player last January and aren't this January

I would say so, especially for the January window. Sky Sports have made a ridiculous big deal out of the whole thing now to the point where they are desperately hoping that something major happens today otherwise they will have a very quiet evening and will look like muppets in the studio having to talk about United selling Memphis a few weeks ago to fill air time.

Would this mark the first signing he's made at Sunderland who he hasn't managed before? Serious question

Also I think he'd be a decent signing for Sunderland
Probably managed to catch a few minutes of him given Leicester won the PL last season.

"They tell me he's got a PL winners medal..."

*Three matches later and Moyes produces an inspiring post-match interview*

"They were clearly taking the piss out of me...he's shite - how can I win matches with thon?"
