Nobody would accept his "celebrity/rapper/influencer" status. To be honest, that's where the problem lies.
I doubt it has anything to do with any of that, more so he's not considered of top talent that big European teams would want starting for them, coupled with the likelihood that he would want to be a first team regular.

Who cares. German wonder kid moves to Bayern - shock horror.

I take very little notice of German talents for this very reason.

The amount of German based players that will wait a year for Bayern is ridiculous.
Didnt they want Sane and KDB to wait as well?

The German league is boring full stop
Leverkusen, Leipzig, Dortmund and Gladbach are decent to watch actually. What makes it boring is they are constantly playing for 2nd place.

There's a rule stopping sugar daddy owners in Germany isn't there? Can any club actually start to challenge Bayern consistently, like Chelsea and City have done over the laat 15 years?

Until that happens, I don't see anyway it changes.

What are we waiting for with regards to Werner?

It’s a steal to get him at the price quoted as his release clause.

I feel the only reason we won’t move for him is because we know his preferred move is to Liverpool.

It's the sheer lack of ambition from the clubs that irks me more. Hypothetically, in England, if Spurs were to sell Harry Kane to us, it would be for 200 odd million. However, they will reduce their asking price for literally any foreign club.

Not only do the German clubs not do that, but Bayern literally pick up the talent at an extremely cheap rate including multiple free transfers like Lewandowski.

BuLi is a terrible, terrible league and it's obvious it's money-related. Leipzig will even struggle to sign Angeliño permanently while they lose Werner and Upamecano. And they're likely to finish 3rd and play in CL again.

Havertz to Bayern is actually really annoying. It was obvious that it was going to happen, but it’s still extremely irritating from every aspect.

Bundesliga has a real chance to make an impact being the first league back, but have just shown that it’s basically a vanity project for one team.

“Did you like watching Dortmund, Leverkusen or Leipzig?? Come back next season when all of those teams will be weaker, while the team that is running away with the title for an 8th season in a row strengthens!!”

A German going to play for the biggest club in Germany and earning good money. Why would anyone think he would leave his country and go play in a foreign league?

KDB had agreed to join Bayern and the contract was agreed upon as well. However Bayern didn’t want to pay up so he was sold abroad. Gigantic mistake by Bayern in hindsight and they seem more willing to spend ever since.

Prefer him to go there than Liverpool but convinced he only wants to go there
I think Liverpool may well be his number 1 choice, but it was only a year or 2 back in fourfourtwo interview he said he prefers Utd to Liverpool, to see their fans say if they dont sign him no one will is utter rubbish. You cannot tell me if only Juve, Madrid, Barca, Man City agree a fee, he rejects them all because they aren't Liverpool.:lol:

I have seen stories that Liverpool are out of the running, even reports they may not even make a major signing this window. Much as i suspect they'll possibly find a way to do the deal for a lower fee after his clause, I dont think Liverpool is nailed on per se

It is very strange, the bundesliga is very incestrial , i mean in what other league could a player (Hummels & Gotze for example) leave you to join your direct league rivals, win a bunch of trophies with them while scoring goals against you and then be welcomed back and celebrated, no thanks.

Imagine Rashford now for example joined Liverpool, won trophies with them, scores goals against us and then rejoined us in 5 years once he starts to decline, do you think he would be welcomed back ?

Götze failed and they had sympathy for him. Plus if you talk some standard rubbish to appease the fanbase, fans will forget after a while.

Hummels played for Bayern before, so technically Dortmund took him from them as a young player. He was hated after returning to Dortmund at the start by some quite a bit, but it was forgotten as well after some time.

In England it wouldn't work, in Germany after a while, the fans are more forgiving eventually.

Because some are naive. He is a big German talent, Bayern won't let him slip away like Sane or even De Bruyne. They made some uncharacteristic mistakes in the past, but i am sure they will push the boat for him

That's because in England the top clubs are a lot closer competively and even if there's a gap it isn't insurmountable. In case of Germany there's a chasm between Bayern and the rest so I'm guessing it hurts a lot less to see them doing better.

We were basically Bayern before the petro dollars came to West London and Stockport. We got who we wanted. We don't anymore.

We would never have dreamed of buying from Liverpool and visa versa or peak arsenal wouldn't have sold to us their direct competition.

We lost out on a lot of players from our league? Id argue we bought more players from our rivals over the last 5 years than anytime before that

And now we cant even sign Bournemouth players (King in January who was into his last 18 months).

Its also going to cost us a fortune to get a player from a likely relegated side (Grealish) which isn't necessarily a bad thing for the league, just the bigger clubs within it and the players who won't get their moves to the bigger clubs.

That's down to the hatred nothing more. Players wouldn't be safe to make that move as crazy as it sounds. Bayern and Dortmund are rivals but not to that extent.

It’s not totally down to the rivalry. Although the heated rivalries do help contribute to the Premier League being a better product in my opinion.

It’s the lack of competition. No one really goes into the season going for the title apart from Bayern, and over time, it’s created a plateau where they sit above every other team looking down almost arrogantly, openly talking about their players and deciding who they will pick for their own squad at their own leisure.

It’s not healthy for competition and it’s not healthy for the league on a global scale.

I would never sit down and watch a Ligue 1 match because it’s a foregone conclusion and a pointless exercise. Neymar has been brilliant for PSG, but his stock has fallen because no one really cares. With the squad that Bayern have, if they add Havertz, it will become a pointless endeavor too.

At least when big teams are out of contention in the PL, they still have realistic aspirations in other competitions and all of the top teams will look to add to what they have got over the summer and come back stronger.

I would be very surprised if Dortmund, Leipzig or Leverkusen look stronger come September, and that’s detrimental to the interest in the competition. In the end, they are only hurting themselves as the Bundesliga becomes less of a big win and more of a trinket every single year.

Agree. Good post.

I would rather be fighting for trophies in a competitive league than turning up to the annual winners parade for a trophy only you can win.

His career has been amazingly successful but somehow still disappointing. When he was tearing up the PL with Spurs I had him earmarked as a proper grassroots lad with pure love of the game. But he really doesn’t seem too bothered about being valued or playing any more

I thought he had already finished his career at Madrid. Happy to sit on the bench and rake in the £££ than go somewhere and actually prove himself as a big part of a team,
