Ole should just hold on to Smalling and stick him in there. He's an amazing defender and he's fast. 'Ball playing centerbacks' are overrated.
Lower wages
Just sell him. Take the 12 and let him leave. Take whatever is offered for romero, lingaard, rojo etc and just get their wages off the books. All thats gonna happen is that these players will run down their contracts and leave for free anyway. Great business that is.

Our tendency to overpay players both fee and wages is catching up with us. Now every club wants extra money once we come knocking at the door.
Looks like a 50 million pound deal is quite close
It's funny that when we are looking to buy players the price reported in the media steadily seems to increase, whereas when we are selling players it generally decreases.
