Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

Napoli may be on good terms with us, but that would be madness from them, maybe Rashford and Zirkzee but even then think they would be getting the rough end

I think that’d be a good deal for all parties involved. Napoli get a replacement winger plus a Serie A proven striker

Though if I were Rashford I’d go to Como and never ever leave

I hate that people just make stuff up nowadays
Not been made up at all, L’Equipe are reliable

From the website:

In this case, PSG should have significant competition in England from Manchester United. The departure of Marcus Rashford will push the Mancunians to strengthen offensively. Here too, concrete contacts have already begun in both directions, with the idea of a possible exchange between the two men.

He's obviously a miles better player than Rashford, but how often has he played centrally?

He has always struck me as the flying inside forward type, more than a 10 that will get on the ball all the time and look to create with passing options. Granted I've seen about 10-20 games of his so might be off the mark.

Does he not take up central areas often for his national side? I may have imagined that.

Yes, the one who defends really poorly. That one.
He defends really poorly yet they have let in the least amount of goals in the league?

I know its just opinions and all that but I don't know mate.... I am baffled by that honestly! Harry played well against Pool the other day, I give him that, but to say he is anywhere near Gabriel is ludicrous.

Either the club is not offering a good raise, or Mainoo's camp is asking for too much, hopefully it is sorted but there is no need to rush it, he has 2+1 years left in his contract.

Edit: in the days of Woodward, Rashford got his first big contract when he was 21, 200k basic, Mainoo though is younger, and since Amad's new rumored salary is 125k, Mainoo should get similar amount as an important regular starter in the first team.

Shocking development. Create a nothing article so they can backtrack the following day. He's got years left on his contract. Let's talk about a new deal once he's got like two seasons in the first team under his belt.

What does that even mean? OK to spend this month?

What’s probably happening is that we are trying to make other clubs think we are properly skint with leaks the media, to avoid over inflation of prices, where as the reality is that we are probably only mostly skint.

Nuno Mendez please. Let’s fix the back 5 and the glaring issue with how unbalanced our play is and then build on that in the summer. Just give the forwards until the end of the season to sort it out or risk being moved on.
I don’t think PSG really want to sell him, unfortunately.

Ever transfer window United brief the media, that we can’t spend any money because of PSR/FFP/SRR, the reality is the club is only allowed to lose a maximum of £105m over a three year rolling period which was reset to include 22/23 season, 23/24 season and this current season 24/25. The key here is the last date of the period is June 30th and that’s why clubs try and sell players before that period. It’s also important to note that this is the last year of PSR with a new Squad Ratio Rule coming in for 2025/26 season.

United lost £28.7m in 22/23 season, £113.2m last year in 23/24 and out first quarter have reported £6.5m losses. Assume that we lose £40m this year then the three year’s rolling period would be approximately £182m.

All clubs are allowed £30m per year of owner investment which will show as ‘credit back’ against the losses, the owners are also allowed to use stadium and training ground improvement costs as ‘credit back’ and investment into youth and woman’s teams.

Most of the $300m(£251m) of SJR investment will be allocated in this way so £90m(three £30m payments) will be used to offset the £182m losses, plus the £50m investment into Carrington and the £20m investment into youth and woman’s team. This would mean that Roger Bell, United’s new CFO would have very little issues on PSR.

It really is a non story and probably is more reflection of the lack of working cash/capital to facilitate transfers. There’s probably no more than £20m actually working capital available after spending at least £100-120m of that initial investment to facilitate summer transfers.

The other important point to remember is both Greenwood and McTominay(both academy 100% sold for profit) were both sold after the 1st June 2024 which means that profit would go into this years accounting, add Rashford for £35/40m and your talking about £100m of net transfer profit.

If we had the money, with the team in a desperate league position, the club would already have made 2 signings by the 9th January!

They need £25m from Casemiro sale plus the £8m you save on 6 months wages and either £40m from Rashford plus £7.5m on wages or £50m payment for Garnaucho. The club is broke, and now needs to sell assets to raise cash to buy new players that’s the absolute truth and SJR won’t put any more money in unless he acquires at least another 4/5% shares.

As I recall - at the end of the fiscal year we had rougly £250-270 million left on that credit arrangement - I don't know how much that changed during the summer, but there is no way we are even close to spending all of it. So from that point of view, there should be money available for the odd signing. Another thing is PSR and - of course that borrowing money at high interest to sign players isn't smart. So there is a chance that INEOS has said we are not using that money unless we absolutely have to - and they don't feel we are there yet.
