Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

Felix has 7 goals and 2 assists im 20 appearances for Chelsea this season.

Zirkzee has 4 goals and 2 assists in 35.

Nkunku has 13 goals and 4 assists in 29 apps this season.

Ferguson fair enough but I'd still consider him a good option for a loan.

He said in the premier league.

And you can see why he cherry picked just one competition, given that the full season facts above are very different.

Our PL season is as good as over anyway - the EL and FA Cup matches are more important for the rest of the season. So any additions that could have contributed to those would be important - any PL contributions would be a handy bonus.

So, the rest of the season with Amad, Höjlund, Zirkzee, Mainoo and Garnacho. Only Amad has been good this season of those and he should play rwb

Don't worry I'm sure Diego Costa and Willian are still available on a free transfer.

You laugh but Costa would start for us. We clearly need some experience up front. Even more surprising the only two links were Tel and Nkunku all window. Neither really help with experience. I know Nkunku is 27 but his game time has been limited with injuries.

Yep.

This 'not repeating mistakes of the past' line is fine as far as it goes. But when you follow up those words with a window like this, and end up with that as your sole attacking options, then you're making just as severe mistakes as the past, only different ones.

Fair enough, they've not repeated mistakes of the past. Just found a different way to completely mess up transfer window(s) and our season.

On the bright side, at least Dorgu can play at right wing back as well, so that can free up Amad further and allow him to play a more attacking role.

The Caf, we need to clear out the deadwood and stop spending stupid money on rubbish players

Also The Caf, I can't believe we loaned out 2 players who weren't playing/contributing and didn't pay £8m for a 19 year old on loan

*a 19 yr-old who hasn't scored since May 2024.

You know there's a feed for just the tweets, right?
...this exact same discussion has already been had. When the thread veers from talking about tweets and into general chat, we get complaints because there is literally other parts of the site for that, or player specific threads for extended discussion.

Exactly. The last couple of pages have featured a discussion of 'how City get away with it' and pages of discussion about United's financial situation, ownership, and general approach to transfers. Like this post (now deleted):
Just for opinions. City have been bad this season (nowhere near as bad as us) does everyone in here think they have panic bought this window?

No excuses, we should have had more incoming this window especially with the predicament we are in....
This has got nothing to do with any particular transfer tweet and shouldn't be here.

So overall: discussing specific transfers that are mentioned in tweets (as happening or not happening) is on topic, pretty much everything else isn't. We have plenty of existing threads for the latter.

A lot of posters need to realise this

Is this the new “we can do things in the market other clubs can only dream of”?

So a complete lack of preparation for the transfer window is now being coated as “hey look, although we mucked about and were totally under prepared, but at least we didn’t panic buy”.

Ineos are running the PR machine big time. At least with Glazers we knew they were rotten from the get-go, but Ineos making a hash of decisions from pretty much the first day is being gobbled up as victories because they were the only alternative to Qatar and fans need them to be the knight in shining armour to save the club.

But this premise is bullshit.

Our problem isn't panic buying at all. Zirkzee wasn't a panic buy, he was an idiotic buy. Mount and Onana and Hojlund were not panic buys, they were long considered and planned out idiot buys. Antony negotiations were going on for a whole summer window.

Going back further the same is true for Maguire, AWB and Sancho. All scouted for literally years.

Posts like this prove the club would never & can never win with the fans

I'm aware. I was here for that and some people didn't know there was a feed with tweets and tweets only, but fair enough.

While yours show how gullible some of our fans are, and with the lack of fight to get to the top for more than a decade, will get them to lap up every piece of PR as gospel.

True, and we changed our minds about that, because you and others were right in pointing out that this here isn't meant to be a Tweets-only thread. But we do want the focus to remain on Tweets and their discussion, not just any (vaguely) transfer-related discussion.

Fans should take part blame of the mess we find ourself in. Pressurizing management into making panic buys even though it quite clear there is no value in the market. M quite certain there are decision makers following this platform. I remember Sancho transfer saga. For some fans transfer is all about amusement. I happy the current regime has put to an end this madness. It high time priority is about buying players who are much better than the players we have. It is difficult to get that during January transfer. Finally, I have hope. Short term pain long-term gain. I'm in for it

Why would he play there though? We don’t have a LWB so thats where he’ll play.

If we’d have panicked then we’d have just signed another Weghorst. What good would that do? The club obviously felt there was no one worth getting in so we didn’t. Our plans will now be towards the summer where can have a proper rebuild.

It is possible to get good players on loan - maybe not for us, but still....
