More money to reflect the loss of spending power from agreeing installments
That's not what Whitwell was saying. I think the player's wish to come here plays a part.

Have read a few of the posts in this conversation and have something rattling around my head.Right, which was my initial point. It makes the function of a release clause moot - we need to drop a suitcase of cash at their door to activate it and walk away with the player no arguments.
Anything outside of that falls into negotiations and the release clause only acts as a guideline price.
Release clauses usually require the full amount to be paid up front, yes. In this context, I expect the clause will mainly be used as a yard stick to negotiate a payment structure that is more palatable for United and Wolves, without being dramatically different from the clause itself.Have read a few of the posts in this conversation and have something rattling around my head.
A release clause is typically the value at which a club will agree to sell a player to another club, irrespective of the contract situation of that player?
I didn’t think that a release clause, by default, stipulates immediate payment?
Genuine question. Is this what you are suggesting or have I completely got the wrong end of the stick?
Yep agreed.Completely makes sense.
Seems a good lad and good shot stopper to have around.
It’s the full amount otherwise, to give you a ridiculous example, what would stop United offering £62.5m at a rate of £1 per year?Have read a few of the posts in this conversation and have something rattling around my head.

Because he was linked to United a few days back (Tier 2):
Reminds me of Thuram and dumfriesIt's kinda funny - Bayern want him, and here most seem to want us to stay away just because we had bad luck with a few other experienced players. He would improve our defence a lot....

Bundesliga club having the audacity to challenge Bayern so they sign their best players.
And Tielemans.Reminds me of Thuram and dumfries
Ederson of Atalanta's the most-mentioned CM linked to United. That's the only name off the top of my head, though.Have we been linked to any CM?
I am worried that we are not giving the CM position the priority it deserves.
We struggle to move the ball from defence to attack,we need a CM or two who can transition defence to attack, strong, fast with good technical ability. You can see how much more we control matches when Bruno moves into CM
Unless the long term plan is to move Bruno further back to CM
It is critical we get someone in that position. To make amorims two lan midfield work we could with someone like vitinha who can cover a l9t of Ground, and also pass the ball metronomicslly but unfortunately those players are in short supplyHave we been linked to any CM?

Until we resolve central midfield we will never get back to the pinnacle of the game.Have we been linked to any CM?

Crazy how PSG got Vitinha AND Neves. It is critical we get someone in that position. To make amorims two lan midfield work we could with someone like vitinha who can cover a l9t of Ground, and also pass the ball metronomicslly but unfortunately those players are in short supply
Reckon plan is for Bruno to play as part of the midfield two more often.
Didn't Eriksen say he was going at end of season anyway? So he would need replacing.Even so we need two CMs imo. Casemiro doesn't have long left in him and Eriksen is pretty much done.

Indeed. Would be left with Bruno, casemiro, ugarte and collyer so clearly needs adding to. Not sure if Mainoo would be considered a midfield or a 10 option, or both. But I think Bruno would be considered the progressive passer option, and it’s a case of having the right partner and/or cover for him.Even so we need two CMs imo. A lot can happen in 8 days, have patienceOnly 8 days younger than Yamal and isn't even in their u23 side, let alone being close to the best player in the world.
Avoid.
Always up against it for German player when Bayern come calling, just like they are doing with WirtzIt's kinda funny - Bayern want him, and here most seem to want us to stay away just because we had bad luck with a few other experienced players. He would improve our defence a lot....
I think Casemiro is staying for 1 more year especially since he'll get that CL bonus to his weekly salary if we win the europa league final, it'll be hard to move him. We'll have Case, Ugarte, Collyer, Bruno, and Mainoo all able to play in that double pivot. Case, Ugarte, and Collyer are already pretty defensively inclined as a partner so I think we'll look for a box to box partner so we don't have over rely on too many defensive options. With Amorim’s recent comments about preferring a left footer in the right 10, I think that means we either get a new left footed attacker for that position or get a rwb and move Amad there (hence the Quenda links previously).
Also means Bruno would move to midfield but the Ederson links are a bit of a head scratcher in this case because if Bruno is playing in the double pivot next season he’d need ideally need a DM partner not a box to box like Ederson

If we get Cunha, it'd be:
10s: Cunha, Bruno, Amad, Mount, Garnacho
8s: Mainoo
6s: Ugarte, Casemiro, Collyer
Might want another #8, but it's 8 players for four spots. That's not bad, especially if there's no European football. Zirkzee can play there in a pinch too, and that's not including any of Rashford/Antony/Sancho.... Maybe the #8 is dependent on getting rid of some of the excess we have at #10 in midfield first.
I'd actually prefer both players in midfield to have that ability to get up and down the pitch with ease rather than having a midfield of specialists. It's why I rate Newcastle's midfield above any other one in the PL. All of their midfielders can run for days and are goal threats and are good passers too. That's the type of midfield we need to build. With Amorim’s recent comments about preferring a left footer in the right 10, I think that means we either get a new left footed attacker for that position or get a rwb and move Amad there (hence the Quenda links previously).

FreeDumbWhen Sancho eventually leaves United our social media team should post #Freedom.
Isn't he decent for United news? I half expected this anyway sadlyShite source but it certainly wouldn’t surprise me, the guys a fecking bum. I’ve accepted we’ll be stuck loaning him out until his contract expires. Now comes the hard part, finding some other mug willing to take him off our hands for another season.
