Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2025/26

It seems Luiz was only a sweetener for the Alisha Lehmann deal. They since broke up, so he's surplus to requirements

I'd take him just to get rid of Sancho. I think Ugarte is better player though. We currently have Bruno, Casemiro, Ugarte, Mainoo and Collyer for 2 positions. I think we'll start the season with Bruno and Ugarte pairing, Mainoo will have to change his game to fit into a midfield 2, Casemiro can only be relied on for cover, Collyer still has question marks. There's room for someone like Luiz in the squad, even if its just incase one of our midfielders has a poor season.

Luiz at Villa was miles better than Ugarte. His passing is levels above Ugarte, and he’s still very solid defensively.

At what point does Rashford stop being referred to as a “star”.

And so it starts again. "Ready to give 100%", "trained before preseason". It's like clockwork with him every season.
Beat me to it. And don't forget the "Expects to be fully involved in preseason "! I hate him, he's seriously doing my head in.

What kind of salary does Luiz earn at Juve?
Widely reported at €5M net. That's around £180k/week gross, and he'll probably try to negotiate a raise. That's why I said in the Luiz thread that it was too much of a risk because if he flops you have another unwanted player on big wages and multiyear contract who will be impossible to shift.

He will get tired after that extra training and then come season will be exhausted. Same old same old. Just get rid of asap. There is no future here.

Oh, is Rashy "training like a beast" again?
Good, good, that really made a huge difference last 5 times.

Just saw something on Reddit saying Rashford is happy to reduce his wages to play for Barca. Let's hope so.

Williams just signed 10 year contract in Bilbao, now we have a chance to ditch Rashford.

Luiz Diaz is next on the list, before him. Good thing is that Liverpool refused to sell him to Bayern. Somehow, I'm now inclined to believe that they will keep him now, given what happened with Jota. So, we have a slim chance.

If he was a Scottish midfielder called Douglas-Lewis, people would say he’s not good enough.

Yeah Diaz won't be going anywhere, not without two replacements now.

Forgot about that deal. still no agreement with Real?

No, there was an initial rush for the CWC but then it slowed down after they couldn't get it done in time. Benfica were also playing in the tournament as well of course. Spanish publications were saying Perez promised him he'd be a Madrid player soon, so who knows.

Couldnt find a Douglas Luiz thread anywhere, so ask it here

What type of midfielder is he? Is he any good?

When he was at Villa he started as a hard-working defensive midfielder - but in his last 2 seasons he became more of a box-to-box midfielder and scored quite a lot of goals 15 goals in 70+ matches in his last 2 seasons for Villa is impressive

And he never got injured av Villa - he was almost like Bruno. In his 5 seasons at Villa, he missed a total of 15 league matches, or 3 pr season (and that includes a few suspenions). At Juve he had 2 injuries that kept him out for over a month each time.

Yep. 9 goals 6 assists in his last season with Villa. Imagine getting those numbers from Ugarte.

I dont see the point of comparing offensive numbers for a DM. It's like comparing Lampard to Makélélé based on their scoring output. Ugarte is a good DM and he does what a DM is supposed to do.

This, and the added fact that there's 2 months of the window left.

Some of the takes on here have been absolutely wild.
Tomorrow is the halfway point between the end of last season and the beginning of the new season. I don't think it's unfair to suggest we should have more transfer business done by now.
