A terribly biased article no wonder by James Horncastle who is an Italian football expert.
His view is Tonalis market value is comparable to Rice and Caicedo (yeah that's bullshit) . I think Laurie's take is that type of money would be too much (no shit!)
"He is one that very, very few can afford. If Enzo Fernandez, whose Chelsea future is currently in doubt, cost €121million (£105m; $139m) after the Qatar World Cup and Moise Caicedo and Declan Rice both fetched more than €100m (£87m; $115m) the following summer, Tonali’s valuation will be in and around the same ballpark"
I am quite sure no club holds the view James Horncastle has so it's a bit of a nothing burger.
Most of those players are not really on our ‘wage bill’ anyway. That’s the whole point of sending them on loan. Barcelona are paying Rashford’s wages, Villa are paying Sancho’s, Napoli are paying Hojlund’s and Trabzonspor are at least paying some of Onana’s.
Considering 2? We need 2 midfielders as it is. If Ugarte leaves we'd need additional one. I don't think any of the academy midfielders we have are ready to step up and contribute to the first team in any meaningful way. That includes the likes of Collyer and Kone.
