I'd be curious to know how much of the €25M remaining on his contract Al-Hilal paid him to buy him out, I doubt he agreed to leave a lot of money on the table just because he dreams of playing for Al-Rayyan. Santi Aouna reported he'll make $10M in Qatar.

When players are unwanted at the top Saudi clubs before their contracts are up, they are usually transferred to a lesser team within the league on that same contract (wage and remaining duration). So he had the option of that, or he could choose to go somewhere else on a longer contract. There’s no way Mitrovic is being paid any less with this move than what he would have made this year anyway. And it’s another contract, guaranteeing another few years of a high wage. The two clubs would have split the difference for his final season (this season).

He's going from Saudi to Qatar so it's different. But it's been reported since then that Al-Hilal was going to pay him the full €25M to terminate his contract so Mitrović's going to make €35M tax free this season. Al-Hilal needed a foreign roster spot and they failed to send Marcos Leonardo to Brazil.

I’m aware where he’s going, I’m saying there’s no way Al-Hilal/Saudi Pro League paid him the full remaining amount unless he were to agree to move to another club within the same league.

The fact he’s going to Qatar means there’s an agreement between Al-Hilal and Al-Rayyan to split this season’s wages.

He won’t make €35m, he’ll just take his initially agreed wage for his final season which will be a combination of a pay-off from Al-Hilal and a running wage from Al-Rayyan.

€6M loan fee and €15M obligation to buy. Apparently PIF have given too much money to Al-Ittihad recently and other clubs are jealous so they have to defer payment to next year
It's a ton of money for a backup CB at Anderlecht, their fans are celebrating on socials.

I think it's because he used to play for AC Milan, so that automatically boosts his profile among the Saudi football fans.

Bournemouth have tried so hard to move him on and eventually did so on a loss. This just shows that even clubs that are lauded for their recruitment sign major duds.
