Tyler Fredricson | 2024/25 Performances

I'd like to see if he can handle himself in a back 4, but definitely didn't look out of place. I'd like for him to get playing time so hopefully he can get a loan next season. Physically he needs to get stronger, you can look at Heaven and him, and you can see that Fredricson needs to bulk up a bit and he's older than Heaven at age 20 so he should ideally start playing as much as he can

Impressive!
I like his crisp passing as well with minimum effort.

Biggest plus was his he didn't look out muscled at all. Showed great strength through the game and obviously good composure.

I can't get over his performance. He was superb.

If someone posts a YouTube video of his performance, please tag me.

Eh? He won all his ground duels, aerial duels and tackles today. Not all players have the same build and physically he looked absolutely fine today.

I know right?
I am sure some are watching a different game or are getting players mixed up:wenger:

I think it might be the baby face. People see that and just assume they don’t have the physicality, instead of watching him shrug off the opposition like it was nothing all afternoon. Bizarre.

He didn’t show much in term of his ball playing ability (probably because he was told to keep it simple). But looks calm on the ball. Surprisingly, he won lot of his duel either ground and aerially despite of being only 181cm. Read the game well too. He was solid defensively.

I thought he was excellent.

I also think he may be a touch taller than he is listed on here. Hard to tell but looked pretty much eye to eye with Lindelof when they were stood next to eachother. Lindelof is 6ft2 I believe.

Think he might play some more this season and get a transfer? As United seem stacked at his position & he's home grown.

I enjoyed watching him play. Him, Amass and Garna on that left hand side looked very bright.

How are we stacked? Lindelof and Evans will both be done after this season, and Shaw and Martinez can’t be relied on for fitness, so we need some CBs coming through.

Jesus wept, a young lad from our academy just had an excellent performance on his debut and people are already talking about selling him.

Game is literally gone.

Yeah, intriguing concept this. We want players to play well for us so that we can sell them. We'll keep the ones who play like shit, thank you very much.

Say what? were not stacked at all, plus what price would you even get for an untested player. No we need to keep talent like this at the club, not sell them.

Its a great strategy going forward,
We sell our young talented home grown players and we spend that all that money on a 28yo and put him on big wages and watch him play like shit with a smile on his face because he is on a 5yr contract and is now on easy street.

Most sources have Tyler at 6'1 - 185 cm. And he may have grown since it was taken.

Heaven has a bit more swagger about him - expected from a midfielder converted to the CB. Fredricson has been groomed through the rank to become a CB. He's very composed, focused, whilst having decent, not exceptional physical attributes.

He has lost near 18 months of development time through injury after being excellent on his first year with the U18s - playing every game in the Youth Cup before the final. Even during the schoolboy years he was injured for quite long time as well.

LCB isn't even his best position so if he does well moving forward, expect him to become very handy in the squad as we need cover for all 3 CBs positions after Evans, Lindelof and maybe even Maguire eventually moving on, whilst the others like Martinez and De Ligt also have had fitness problems throughout the years.

It’s always the case of the young lads performing better than the older ones. Probably a motivation issue. They need to impress to get more game time. The older ones are in a comfy position. Need to be ruthless this summer when selling players.

Wow, I'm amazed how solid he was considering the zero hype around him going into today. Just goes to show how difficult it is to predict how these youngsters will do.

MDL / Maguire / Yoro / Martinez / Maz / Heaven / Fredricson

Looks a very solid selection of CB's going into next season. Let's send Shaw off to the glue factory and see how Harry does, maybe extend another year if he has another good season.

If we get europe there'll be plenty of gametime to spread around that lot, with an eye to moving on Maguire and possibly Martinez if his injuries continue at the end of the year. Nice one.

Carrington might just save our bacon lads.

My personal take is if you want a real focussed performance you just chuck a youth player in for a one-off game rather than use a proven (average) squad player. The sheer adrenaline and the motivation will mean they will perform. Results may vary and I’m probably speaking from confirmation bias but I always recall a bunch of these types dropping stormers on their debuts like that across the league.

Is he left footed? Profile says right
I couldn’t tell to be honest he looked very comfortable spreading the ball and often choosing more initiative passes. What stood out for me is how he looked very assured in the air on one or two occasions when he had to.

We are definitely not stacked in the position for a team thats plays 3 at the back, not when you account for quality

Exactly, such a weird idea to sell him. Martinez will be coming back from another big injury and Shaw is made of glass. We need numbers at CB because every season we have injury crises there. Having another young homegrown player to rotate in there with Heaven and Yoro would be ideal, as it would cost us £0 and can share the game time alongside the more experienced CBs.

Solid debut performance. Ideally we'd loan him out to get experience elsewhere as he should be starting to get regular first team experience at 20, but in this situation he could be useful as a rotation option for us heading to next season, which would allow us to spend money elsewhere.

In hindsight looked more assured than I had originally thought. Surprised and pleased with his willingness to get stuck in aerially and jostling/tackles. For a debut it was a solid performance and an apt game to play in but it must be said though that it he wasn't tested that much individually. Going to be interesting to see his game and physical development.

For those that have watched him at youth, how's his acceleration/speed i.e dealing with 1 vs 1s in open space and runs in behind? Passing in between the lines, ball carrying etc?

I think we have some very good players that can play CB at the club meaning we should be looking to cash in on Martinez in the summer. He’s too injury prone and when he was fit wasn’t that great. We have Yoro, De Ligt, Maguire, Shaw, Heaven and Fredericson. Get rid of Lindelof as well. He winds me up.

Thought he did alright, definitely grew more into the game in the second half. In the first half his passing was downright negative for the game situation (which is understandable given it's his debut) and offensively Wolves were so bad it's impossible to tell if he has much about him. Even Lindelof looked composed and relatively commanding, which is a rarity.

Without the ball one of the benefits of the 3ATB system is defensively it's pretty forgiving on the centerbacks. What really made Heaven and Yoro stand out was their willingness to step out from the back and get stuck in with the buildup in a way we didn't see too much of from him. On the bright side his technique looks like he's pretty capable of it, so if it's just a belief thing I'm sure he'll grow into it.

All in all I'm not sure a centerback will get an easier starter than that, but you can only beat what's in front of you.

We lost the game, not sure how it was supposed to be a super easy one.

This is one of this arguments that sounds reasonable until you actually watch the game.

We lost the game 1-0 to a team who scored from a freekick (which was very good tbf). There was a total of anywhere between 0.18 and 0.3 xGA depending on the model. They had 4 shots in total, 1 in the box and 2 corners all game. There really was nothing to defend, them scoring a worldie from their one chance and us being terrible in front of goal so we ended up losing the game doesn't really change that.

Or alternatively, the defence did pretty well?
