Might be one of those that read too much between the lines, I didn’t much of him since he was vacationing with Rashford last summer. Seems like he followed the bad group outside of the club and managed to get his career to end very early. He could have sticked with Bruno or Case and looked up to them instead he was following the toxic ones. Tens of millions of kids out there wishing to get half the chance he had with us. What a waste!!

Bit of a stretch, no? If he doesn't have a future at the club I'd say it's primarily due to 1. injuries and 2. lack of quality.

I’m not questioning whether he had a quality or not. Hes only a $75k a week player so not very costly to keep but most importantly he is not showing any fight to stay. He didn’t get injured since his return from the long injury but just lack of fight. We have plenty of under performers in the squad alongside injury prones too. It’s hard to believe he is technically not fit for PSV.

Where do you see lack of fight in him?

A Manchester United player not being able to earn a change in PSV is definitely one thing. Joining the bad boys club in the dressing room is another.

Not sure that equates lack of fight (Antony is presumably part of that club, and fight is the one quality he does bring; same for Garnacho.) But anyway, is there anything beyond speculation that Malacia has a bad attitude? I think he’s simply not good enough.

Garnacho is talked himself out of the club with his interviews after the game.

Fair play to Antony though, showed so much fight with Betis but he has a different issue than Malacia as his wages and fee are too high for them. Basically just different issues.

Malacia is supposed to be #2 for an injury prone and he didn’t earn, didn’t even earn his spot in PSV. He can’t be that bad.

If ETH’s transfers have taught us anything, it’s that they can indeed be that bad.

Players on an individual levels aren’t that bad and lets be honest here. We have so much to do before looking and fingerprint to certain players. Harry Maguire was a meme in 2023 and last season he’s one our best players. Andre Onana is a UCL finalist and won the league and uncle Case is 5 times UCL winner. They can’t be this bad, we have a culture problem that I hope it can be fixed soon. Its not always about the level of the players but also the work ethic in training and that what SAF was very good at. Most United former players refer to the training as harder than most PL games due to the quality of players and the ethics in the dressing. You don’t have players back in 2007 that not wanting to run in Fri session so they can play with fresh legs on the weekend. Most players we have now are under performers when it comes to ethics, we suddenly had no injuries when we palyed City in the FA cup final last time we won. Same happened for the Europa league final last season. Not good enough basically.

Just give him away to charity

I don't think our asking price is deterring clubs. Clubs rightfully have doubts about his long-term fitness and he's earning more than what most clubs would give him anyway (Celtic couldn't take him on without us subsidising his wages). The club would probably terminate his deal if he was willing to do so. It's unlikely he'll get another contract worth 75K a week. A loan move would be the best thing for him so he can prove his fitness and try to rescue his career, but for United it'll mean only partial wage coverage, which I guess will be the end result here.

I think Malacia will only agree to terminate his contract when he is fully compensated for his remaining wages. The best thing would indeed be a loan somewhere, at least we would get some of the wages compensated and best case scenario he proves his fitness and finds rythm, so we can sell next summer...

He was on loan for the second half of last season. He didn’t get any further injuries at PSV did he?

His contract expires next summer. This is our last window to sell him for whatever penny we can get. I'd happily give him away for 1m just to save on his wages.

ah I wasnt aware his contract expires next year..

Nope. But I guess clubs saw how his shape was at PSV and how he even lost his place there. Guess there’s very little interest for him.
As he’s Dutch I think we’d hear most of the news about him here in NL, but it’s been very very quiet indeed

As much as I'd like us to sell him he'll probably leave as free agent next summer and same could be the case with Sancho.

With Malacia at least he was a cheap punt, feel for the lad - seems like his surgery was botched and it's ruined him. Was a solid if limited LB when fit.

Yeah he was decent, definitely never a solution for LB but was cheap as you say.

That Saudi link quickly fizzled didn't it? What a massive disappointment we haven't heard of any concrete ones since.

I thought he would be one of the first out the door at a fee of maybe 10 to 15 mil euros but yet he's still here somewhere. I wonder if the lack of movement is on his side where prefers going to a specific club/league or are there truly no one in need of his services.

He was out for a very long time and when he came back he was a mile off it as expected. He also didn't do well back in the Dutch league.

I can't imagine many clubs queuing up to sign him until he's available on a free.

Read it too. Apparently his training attitude was exemplary so they decided to take him back

Good to see him back in training. Hopefully a bit more bench depth going forward.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone question his attitude, so quite why it’d be such a selling point now is beyond me. Albeit it’s perfectly reasonable that he’s behind reintegrated now he can’t get a move. You never know. We might need him at some stage.

We're definitely thin at LWB. If they're not going to play Leon, Dorgu needs some competition at the least.

Quality control
Maybe Amorim will play him as a right winger, or a centre forward….or even in goal.

Well, anything goes with this chump in charge !

.

He’s been such a poor buy. Never looked even half decent before his injury. If he gets any minutes this season, then we really are in trouble.
Struggled last season on loan in Holland so doubt he can much for us.

He’s never had any questions about his attitude. It’s his quality that is suspect. I also remember him not being quick enough physically and getting beat.

As a left back, he might be okay as a squad option. As a wingback, I just don’t see it.

The idea that the success of our attacks will depend on Malacia on the wings making the right decision is quite depressing.

Only we'd get a low risk, high reward signing wrong.

He was garbage before his injury and even worse when coming back.

Likely will walk for free next summer when his contract runs out.

Hope he reignites his career somewhere. Came in cheap as backup, got a long term injury. Its not like he's a wage thief or someone with a stinking attitude. He's stuck in this bind.

why not? Let’s try? It’s not like Dorgu is doing anything useful

Apart from getting through a monumental amount of work, rarely getting beaten defensively, showing power and pace, understanding the role and two assists in his last couple of games

Malacia has barely played football for years now. He'll be way off.
