Was Maz injured enough to justify his substitution?

This lad is League 1 standard in my opinion. Made himself look stupid as usual. Remember Bournmouth at home last season, I said it was the worst display of a United player ever that day.

He's stil with us!

Only for three more months. And at least we spent a relative pittance on him.

I'll keep screaming this until someone listens...Kukonki has played a fair amount of games at LB and is actually good.

Don't blame him, shouldn't be here and shouldn't have been brought on. At the time the 15m? we paid seemed like a decent fee but yeah, another Eth masterclass. Get rid ASAP.

£15m jesus christ i just had to google that. I thought it was 10% of that. This club ffs. EtH's first signing, what an omen.

He was alright at the beginning, if my memory is right. So the price didn't seem bad, but yeah overall a shocker of a signing.

He was fine until the Sevilla game. Ever since then he’s been a liability.

He was ok in a Buttner fashion in the beginning, then as the season progressed it was very evident that his nonexistent athleticism means he would never make it here, the Sevilla home game in the EL a prime example of that.

Then the 2 years long layoff happened and whatever ability he had left as a footballer deserted him.

Looked like a competition winner out there. Should be playing an academy graduate instead

Carrick not bringing Heaven on instead of him really was a terrible decision.

Shows how poor our recruitment has been over the years when we're still wheeling this guy out.

He didn't need to be wheeled out when Heaven was still an option off the bench.

Wasn't he already finalising his transfer away on Jan transfer deadline day when Wilcox called him back and asked him to stay as cover? Maybe he was promised game time if Shaw becomes unavailable. Bringing on Heaven ahead of him would have made Wilcox look like a tit. He hardly would have stayed to be fourth choice left back for a club playing in 1 competition only.

I would rather Wilcox looked a tit than the players

Yes this was a strange one. And not helped by the fact the goal came down that side.

Was just watching the highlights back and the old lady says “What was he looking at ?”

Well done, Mr. Manager.

His effort for that 2nd goal was disgraceful and appalling, but he should never ever see the pitch.

Scandalous decision to sub him on. Tinker with the system. Anything, but bring him on when the game is in the balance.

He managed to show in 10 minutes why he should never play for us again.

Absolute shite.

The defending for newcastles winner was some of the most lazy half hearted disgracefully shite defending I’ve seen for a long time.

Why play him? I absolutely loathe this shit at giving players chance after chance despite them showing they're not good enough.

If they didn't take their chances, that's fine, but players like Malacia are sabotaging time and time again. He should not play a second more for us.

Played like someone who hasn't kicked a ball very much for 3 years. I quite liked him pre-mysterious 18 month injury. Far from outstanding, but a serviceable backup.

He barely looked like a footballer in that 10 minute cameo. Didn't seem to even know how to track the lad carrying the ball who eventually scored. Didn't get tight, didn't force him wide, let him run and then cut inside with ease. He just sort of ran somewhere in the vicinity, and then stood rooted to the spot.

He obviously wasn't supposed to see the pitch at all last night, but he probably shouldn't be making the bench if he's that poor. I suppose between Dalot, Shaw and Maz, we have no other fullbacks?

He's like what, 4th choice left back? Maybe we could do better with Heaven (not Carricks favourite I can imagine), and agree he's League 1 player, but would also be good to check other clubs 4th choice fullbacks first.

From his scared expression when called on the touchline, his stupid hairstyle, to his running around like a headless chicken when brought on - everything about him SCREAMED not to play him. Baffling decision not to use Heaven or even put Amad at LB instead of this civilian.

He gave Osula a completely free run to goal and then just gave up at the end.

Got nowhere near him. Goal is almost entirely his fault.

He gets absolved of blame though, because he never should have been on the fecking pitch.

He was fine until the Sevilla game.

The game which killed EtH.

Should have been about six nil (no exaggeration) ahead until Malacia faffed over a nothing ball.

Mind, we're still in such mode. We cannot dominate or control matches because we lack the nous and are always capable of wasting whatever advantage we get.

Three years hence.

Yeah, he was just about to board his flight to join Besiktas when Wilcox called him to return. Was apparently very frustrated by it.

Felt a bit sorry for him last night more than anything. Can't be a surprise to anyone that he's going to look exceptionally rusty having barely played for years.

Fault is really Bruno's for trying the pass he did (when Malacia was free) because it means Malacia gets caught out of position.

The fact Malacia is simply not athletic enough or good enough is secondary, he's like 10th choice full back, the entire counter stems from trying to force the issue at the other end.

Absolute shite.
Should never ever make it to the bench from now onwards. Can't pass. Can't run. Can't defend. Waste of space. Better give to the academy player.

The fact remains he didnt do his job, even as a limited player. Even if we say he doesnt have the pace to keep up and pressure Osula, he does get back in position eventually for Osula to take him on at leftback. At that point Osula comes inside and Malacia not only doesnt even try to defend it, he does the worst thing you can do as a defender and turns his back on the attacker as if hes just seen him push the ball down the right wing and he needs to stop him getting a cross in. The guy is so out of phase with play hes seeing things. Maguire and Lammens arent able to bail him out and the shot is a good one, although at a savable height
