Stoke almost take the lead after 100 seconds as a nice combination of passes leads to a shot that hit the post. United under heavy pressure early on, a brilliant save from Mastny seconds later.

Penalty for Stoke. Mastny keeping us in the game, 4-5 great chances for Stoke in 8 minutes.

Stoke score from the spot, 0-1.

Stoke are absolutely pummeling us and deserve their lead.

Really could do with bringing Mejbri on to get a grip on the midfield. We have absolutely no control in central areas and are struggling against the press.

Absolutely, first proper attack after 17 minutes and even that came from Sotona’s pace alone. Think we’ll have to wait until HT before Mejbri’s in.

Sotona the only threat for us and he's just won a freekick in a good area.

Akandji booked for bringing Sotona down near the box. Our only route at the moment is to get Sotona running at the defense from the left.

Sotona 1-1! Birthday boy gets his deserved goal, he's been really dangerous on the left.

Well played from both Bejger and whoever released Sotona down the left. Nicely taken goal from Sotona. It was McCann apparently

Could be 4-0 down so it is against the run of play, but we're slowly growing into the game.

United looking better in the last 5 minutes with Stoke's pressing not as effective.

Half-time: Stoke deservedly lead 2-1 and should be further ahead.

My God - our defenders have actually managed to get even worse at defending since last weekend

Route one from the Stoke keeper and the Stoke player is through to square it for 3-1. Awful defending, sad to say.

FT 1-3. Another poor performance from United. Our subs improved our play a little but we were lacking in end product. Defensively abysmal yet again.

I thought United have 7 centre-backs in U-18s.

After removing Mengi (who plays U-23s), which two make a good central pair?

Lukasz Bejger
Oliver Denham
Ben Hockenhull
Björn Hardley
Calen Gallagher-Allison
Teden Mengi
William Fish

I'd like to see Hardley with Fish or Rhys Bennett given a chance.

From what I've seen, Hardley and Fish are the best 2 cbs. Hockenhull leaves me with my heart in my mouth whenever I see him play.

Bejger seems to be first choice RB with everyone fit so I'd like to see Hardley with Fish since Fish & Hockenhull have a lot of the same weaknesses with neither particularly fast or good at dealing with balls into the channels. Problem is although we have numbers Hardley & Gallagher-Allison are both injured, Denham only recently returned from injury & has the same weaknesses as Fish & Hockenhull & Bejger went off injured today.
