Feels like they mainly reward playing for a team going far in the tournament or just pick popular players.
Like De Bruyne didn't impress that much in CL. He mainly performed in the PL.

Where is Gnabry? He was the best bayern player in Champions League

Gulácsi unlucky to not be in the top 3 IMO. Prior to the heroics of Neuer, I had his performance against Spurs as the standout goalkeeping performances in the UCL. He was by no means perfect as evidenced by his pass leading to PSG's 2nd goal, but even looking at that game in isolation he prevented some dangerous opportunities. What a story though, once upon a time he was languishing around in the English lower divisions. He's now considered to be a key player for RB Leipzig, a side which none of the sides in the Bundesliga have conceded less, and a place in the UCL positional rankings.
