Think it's safe to say we won't be making it through the play-off route...

Get rid of this pish - internationals should be qualifying and tournaments. This is just friendlies made less friendly.

Poor Hungary, another terrible draw for them: England and Germany already

In terms of quality of teams that's kind of an attack on the World Cup, isn't it? It's basically a super league.

Say about the Nation's League what you will, but that group 3 is a cracking group and there's guaranteed no friendlies :D

Yeah, no. That’s crap. We have no need for a World Cup lite.

Once again UEFA solving problems that don’t exist.
It's merely power balancing between FIFA and UEFA. This practically kills biennal World Cup idea, because UEFA was strongly opposed to it, and has obviously gotten South America on board. Good luck FIFA in making World Cup without UEFA and CONMEBOL.

That said, I believe football's greatest power comes from its history and tradition. And institutions that should do everything to protect tradition are actually doing everything in their power to undermine it.

No team in particular.

FIFA will have to concede, as nobody is gonna watch a World Cup without Germany,Brazil,Italy, France,Argentina,Uruguay Netherlands,Spain, and England.
No disrespect but barely anybody is gonna get hyped by Japan vs Senegal or South Korea vs Ivory Coast in semifinals (except people from those countries of course).

FIFA have no option but to concede, they know without UEFA and Conmebol there is no "World Cup" product to sell worldwide, as i even doubt that most people in Asia,Qatar,Saudi Arabia,UAE (all these countries who pay shiton of money in TV rights for these events) will be excited for a WC with only teams from AFC,CAF, and CONCACAF.

They'll try anything to make international football popular. Won't work, it's so so dull.

This tournament in general is stupid, not because of the idea, but because it plays in the summer when players should be getting a rest. A lot of European players will have their regular seasons finish late May (possibly even later depending on the covid fixtures in the UK), and then they have to spend most of June playing this rubbish? And then pre-season from July. All this extra football will kill the players.

It is in the summer only because world cup isn't.

I was reading an article saying France’s victory was a significant one last night in terms of qualification. But aren’t they already out now? Likewise I’m guessing England are pretty much out too?

France have saved their face, avoiding the drop to B division. They still can drop though, if they don't beat Denmark and Austria beats Croatia in last round.

It's pretty much the same with England.

Ah so they’ve avoided the drop but France can’t win it now right? I guess England still have a mathematical chance despite being unlikely.

No. Whatever the result between Hungary-Germany will ensure that England can't progress from the group.

God, Poland was truly awful yesterday. Another World Cup will be wasted due to our completely moronic FA, stink of nepotism and lack of professionalism. Our manager is not only inept but also was historically involved with corruption in Polish football, don't think it was ever so tough to cheer for my national team. Big shame for Lewandowski and Zielinski, they deserve much better than this.

England playing for third place only to avoid relegation. Either seem very likely.

Southgate had a good group of starters at the peak for their clubs but as we've seen during the end of the Euros and since it's been a muddled lineup of players. Doesn't seem like he has a plan for Grealish Sterling and so on.

England should be able to defeat us tonight, these are our unavailable players: Chiesa, Berardi, Locatelli, Verratti, Politano, Tonali, Immobile, Spinazzola, Pellegrini, Insigne and also Zaniolo that has not been called by Mancini because of his attitude.

Of course England still must play well to win, not as they did vs Hungary otherwise they'd lose also against Estonia or Lithuania
