Ugarte appears to be out the door this summer

Sick of loans. If you want to leave then hand in a transfer request and tell your agent to earn his 10% and go find a club willing to pay for your "talents" and pay a fair fee.
United signed you to win and you fecking failed. So if you want the United cash but refuse to get better then just sit on the bench, shut the feck up and leave when your contract is up. Half these greedy pricks we've signed struggle against lower league players in domestic cups, but think United are hampering their chances for international tournaments so expect us to pick up the wage bill while they feck around elsewhere.

This is the price we pay for shit scouting.

Given that we're likely losing both Casemiro and Ugarte in the same summer, we're going to need a combination of plug and play experience to replace Casemiro, and ideally a younger player with a lot of upside potential to replace Ugarte.
And a third one we already don't have.

The only way we’ll be losing him is through a loan unfortunately unless we take a 50% financial hit which we won’t as more in likely we’ve probably only paid 50% to PSG so far

I think he's actually a good player. He hasn't got a proper run in ages and that's fine if Carrick doesn't rate him. He hasn't shown anything off the bench, quite the opposite for the most part to be honest but if we were judging Mainoo on his sporadic sub minutes he'd be as close to out the door as Ugarte seems to be.

I think he's similar to Fred. He's a busy aggressive player but we don't play to his strengths and he doesn't offer the composure on the ball we seem to need from both of our midfielders. What I will say. Why don't we act like PSG? We prbably could have a big fee for Sancho at the end of his first season. Leaving Neves to sign Ugarte was such a big miss too. He was surely gettable, all action and much better on the ball, even to the most casual observer
He does not look like a good player to me. He looks like a player who's unable to cope with the pace of the PL, and who's just very limited on the ball. Not as good as Fred, and I think we've seen more than enough to conclude he should be out.

First manager who saw a problem in his playstyle and ability was Enrique. One of the reasons why I want him as manager.
Ugarte is not a midfielder you want if your club has any aspiration of winning anything.

I’d say that the big problem is that we’re likely looking at a loan out for him, and that “his replacement in the squad” will probably come as a fourth choice and only be prioritized after finding the Casemiro-replacement and the second CM-signing, while also being behind Mainoo in the pecking order.
Who would that player be, available on the cheap and willing to play a squad depth role but still being an upgrade..?

IMO the pairing of Ugarte-Casemiro has been decent/serviceable, while Mainoo-Ugarte doesn’t work because of lack of progression, athleticism/mobility, positional awareness/discipline. However, when we do sign a couple of new midfielders this summer they should both be better fits for either one of Mainoo and Ugarte.
Hence, imo Ugarte can stick around as deep cover/4th choice if no one is willing to buy for a decent fee and there aren’t clear upgrades available as deep cover.

What, you think they are either directly applicable or they say nothing at all? How do you think scouting works?

We’re not scouting him. He already plays for us. We’ve already witnessed how our scouting of him has translated into performances for us. In that context, no, I don’t think his stats for other teams in other leagues are relevant to us anymore. They are so massively outweighed by what’s he’s done, or failed to do, on the pitch for us.

Ugarte has been linked with Newcastle and Villa this morning. Under the right manager and right system he can be an asset. I can see why Newcastle would be interested. Seeing how much they have to graft under Eddie Howe.

His wages circa 130k a week may just force him to stay in PL rather than take a cut in pay to La Liga or SerieA.

I'd never seen him play pre United, but read quite a few people who had on here saying we'd quickly need to upgrade him.

Quite worrying a few amateur football watchers on here could see something the supposed pros running the club couldn't do.

But then pretty much everyone wondered what on earth we were doing with the Mount transfer, let alone at the fee involved.
Let alone after we'd just done the exact same thing with Van Beek and saw how that ended.

Yep yep.

He was never going to be a starter here, it was obvious from the beginning that buying a limited player for 50M made no sense. 20M sure.

Many were saying since he is young thats fine, but its not. If you buy duds like Ugarte or Zirkzee, its hard to shift them around regardless of age.

Might be naive, but I sometimes wonder if we’d actually be any worse off if our post-Fergie transfers/squadbuilding was decided by a forum democracy.

We could barely have made more of a hash of it over the last 14 years or so.

And of course we where there to offer 50m plus. Really annoying

We will probably need twice that amount on book value for FFP rules and will most likely need to loan out for the season, saving his wages at least..
Doesn't work that way. PSR impact isn't just transfer fees paid and received. There's a PSR cost to keeping him too, and that's what you have compare with. AFAICS, that cost would be bigger than the PSR impact of selling him for 15 m.

The real PSR issue is the cost of replacing him, but whether or not you get book value for him is really a pretty arbitrary and pointless measure in that context.

I think he will be hard to shift and he must have a few years left on his contract which I would be fairly sure would have him earning more money than any potential club would pay him.
Buying these type of players which have such limited technical ability is hopefully going to be a thing of the past.

Nothing footballer. This should be his last game for us.

It’s actually shocking how bad he looks now. There was a time last season that he looked like he could be a useful player for us - but he’s completely done here now. Simply cannot complete a forward pass, and can’t dominate defensively.

Psg replaced him with the standard of midfielders we should want in vitinha, neves and ruiz. My concern is more failures in gomes and baleba

Let's play Ugarte oh yeah he's shit
Missed 5 games
Let's play Ugarte oh yeah we forgot he's shit missed 7 games
Let's play Ugarte oh yeah he's crap

Why not put Mount in Mainoos position, keeps possession links the defence to attack finds Bruno in dangerous areas

No let's play Ugarte oh yeah he's crap, Mount on at halftime

Even worse than expected. Looks shaky and nervous. Zero urgency doesn’t help the cause at all.

Needs to be the first player sold in the summer.

Terrible, terrible footballer for the Premier League.

If your ex manager won't use you, you know you have no hope. Pointless not to try sell him on January.
