Ugarte appears to be out the door this summer

I'm hoping that as he's an INEOS signing he won't be on daft wages. That's what's narrowed our suitors when selling players, and brought the fee down when we eventually find one.

A cracking site

I was so disappointed watching him in pre-season. I was expecting him to step up after a debut season of acclimatising but even in last summers pre-season he looked like a competition winner.

He's been out of his depth in here. He couldn't keep up the pace of the PL, he tends to force himself to make fouls and conceded free kick, and he offers nothing on the ball. I wish him good luck.

For that fee he could go back to Portugal. Could also go to Italy, but yeah probably Turkey.

Shouldn't be an issue.

What a complete and utter waste of time and money this guy was. And we sold McT for 25m to buy this guy for 50m. Even fecking ETH didn't want that.

We surely like to waste our money on completely pointless signings. Even just looking at his stats you'd know he was nothing more than a ball winner which at this level is just not good enough. PSG were willing to dump him after just 1 year yet we happily obliged and gave them their money back when we could have gone for Joao Neves instead for the same amount.

Yeah it'll definitely be one of them three, more likely Portugal or Turkey in my eyes.

He’ll magically become a good player again in a weaker league. We don’t need a midfielder in a free pressing role, whatever we’ve been asking him to do has completely neutralized him. I’m happy enough at this point to sell up and recoup a decent fee and move on but I think he’s one that could actually go out on loan and do well and raise his transfer fee. He’s not a waster like Sancho, it just hasn’t worked out for him here as much due to style as anything else

Thats over rating Ugarte. All of them have much better midfielders than Ugarte as we speak
They have all been linked with Ugarte recently. Just because you don't rate him, doesn't mean other clubs don't.

15-20m if we’re lucky, based on his wages. Turkey most likely, but possibly an Italian club who could use a squad man in midfield. A shame the club overrated Ugarte.

Thanks, not obscene then. Shouldn't have much trouble shifting him.
That’s an enormous wage for a below average defensive midfielder! He’s only matching that in a select few countries (Saudi, Turkey, namely) and they have to see enough in him to even take the chance.

It's an enormous wage for anyone tbf. But as the going rate for a first team player at a top 4 premier league club, it's on the low side. I don't think his wages will be prohibitive, let's put it that way.

He'll probably look great with more time on the ball and a lower physicality requirement. Probably seem a world beater in current Serie A, like most of our recent cast-offs.

He’s a seriously failed player showing no upside and no justification for anywhere near that amount of money. He’ll be lucky to get half that in a proper league, unless Atletico do their momentary bout of madness thing (which saw them take the likes of Conor Gallacher).

The big problem is he’s failed spectacularly here; there’s a risk in taking him on.

Gallagher did well enough at Atleti, their fans generally loved him because he was such a grafter. Ugarte is not as good a player as Gallagher though but he will do well in La Liga or Serie A with that little bit less frantic speed about the game.

They loved his heart, but he was quickly moved on. Not sure who’s the better between them - Ugarte got a well earned move to PSG after all.

Napoli or Juventus would suit him, he’d prefer the slower pace slightly less physical style of play in Serie A, previously mentioned.

He is a Morgan Schneidelin regen. Sadly, just as much of a failure.

Hopefully we are coming to the end of transfers of players we can't sell or lose way too much on them.

Hasn't worked out at all for him. But he'll probably happy collect handy wages for another year at least.

Praying that he has a good World Cup, so we can trick some team into buying him. Come on Bielsa, work your magic.

Ugarte has won just once in 10 starts all season.

The run includes six defeats and draws to all of the promoted sides.

It also looks even worse when extended back to March 2025.

In that time Ugarte has started 14 Premier League matches, losing nine and winning only one.

I hope he’s a cautionary tale to the club and some of our fans who keep insisting we need a destroyer. If all a player can do is run around a lot and has zero ability on the ball or passing range beyond 5 yards, stay the hell away from them and certainly don’t pay over 50 million for them.

Christ that’s a bad record
