Imagine banning Sults, of all the people that go to OT they pick almost certainly the most helpful and soundest guy in the ground.

They’ll get their dream of a ground full of day trippers with arms full of bags from the megastore soon enough.

What a load of rubbish.
What in the world are United thinking here?

Sorry to hear OP, just an unfortunate and ridiculous circumstance. Hope things get straightened out...the club can't be this stubborn can they to an extent where they don't even acknowledge common sense reasoning?

You had offered to help me out too about 8 years ago. I managed to get tickets as they went on general sale so didn't approach you but had really appreciated that I could fall back on you for tickets as I was coming all the way from India.
If there is any petition that you need signed do let me know and would be glad to help. I am not on twitter so can't help there but if you share details I can definitely send an email to the club.

Agreed, really horrible. I would have never been able to fulfill a life long dream without your help.
That’s what it’s all about :) if I can’t go and friends can’t go, then next is genuine fans who travel from a-far. I prefer to see my seat in use when I don’t make it, genuine lads like yourself. Redcafe is a community.

Yet the club is happy for Thompson’s, or whoever, flog ridiculous priced “packages”. They are the biggest touts, just United get a slice of the pie so are delighted to oblige - they don’t from our face value (sometimes less than face value) exchanges.

A disgrace to do this to a genuine and unselfish person like Sults.

Isn't that probably why the Club is pissed? due to his kindness giving freebies a pop for day-trippers from Asia, the club have lost money (the Asian fans buying expensive tickets, packages etc). You can see why they are pissed as his season tickets are losing the club money when they can get someone with them prime seats season tickets who doesn't cause any bother, just goes to games, buys the Merch and goes home.. the Paul Scholes of football supporters if you will.

Like it or not, football and Manchester United is a business first and foremost, and this isn't good business letting someone go around giving people freebies. Even if you worked at a shop, giving every tom-dick and harry discount wouldn't go down too well would it!? it's about maximising profit..

Look at it from the clubs perspective. It's a shame, but it's the Glazier's club it isn't a fan-owned club.

He’s giving people tickets to a game they couldn’t get tickets to and he’s not going to be game. He’s not taking anything from the club at all.

These aren’t exactly what we call day trippers either they’re proper fans, some of which happen to be from Asia but many of which are much more local than that.

How is the club losing money when he payed for a seat for a whole season? The club is only losing money if you think it is okay they sell the same seat twice.

Yeah, this is disgraceful. Sultan has got me tickets before for face value, always genuinely helpful. I'll support in any way I can.

There's always one. I never understood why some people side with corporate over people in these arguments. MUFC is the richest club in the world, the money they are potentially losing here is peanuts...

Just came in late on this thread. Shocked and sickened by the clubs actions, Sultan. We have had friendly conversations about attending matches from some time ago and you have always been such a kind and honest person.

Sultan, I wish you well, but they don't give a shit. Selling the seats you've already paid for surely is unethical? Basically they are touting your tickets. I will do anything that helps you mate; I'll follow his thread with interest. Very best of luck with it.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
I can barely bring myself to feel outraged anymore by things that the club does. It's long since lost it's "community" aspect and is as much a business as Apple or Google these days. T's & C's are important when dealing with businesses and that's where the issue lies here if it's true that tickets can only be passed on to friends and families. Somebody has obviously clocked that Sultan makes tickets available for most games to people that may be reading this forum.

The ridiculous thing is that he would be well within his rights to leave these seats empty for some games, and thats what would hit the club in the pocket. Essentially all he is doing is filling that seat for the club, without making a profit (I'm assuming). At a community level he's helping out people that want to go to games and, in the true spirit of football, that's a great thing. That's what it is all about. As somebody else said though, the club are probably annoyed they can't re-sell the seats, which is greed of the absolute highest order.

The club has forgotten where they came from and what they once were. But we all knew that.

At United, the T&Cs were actually changed recently to say that ST holders are officially allowed to pass on tickets to 'friends and family' but its a bit of a grey area about whether you can charge anything for that ticket - really they should say its fine to pass on at FV but obviously touting at a profit should be forbidden
They brought in the "pass to families and friends" change 5 years ago. I remember, as this is what encouraged me to first get tickets.
I'd say it was a "grey area" no one really thought about for years, with passing tickets on, but this year, the club have been very clear about selling at any price not being acceptable.

It's been mentioned frequently on the ticket thread, has come out on emails, and is in the t&cs.

Obviously, still a travesty someone like Sultan is getting treated like this, when as others have said the club blindly let touts sell under their noses outside the ground, and by official re-sellers at huge prices.
All without an official ticket exchange.

Do they think fans can just suck up losing £30-50 every game they miss? Or do they think every fan can get to 25-30 games at all manner of crazy kick of times, 9 months of a year?

Unlike a lot of the others, I haven't been lucky enough to visit OT yet. There's a point to be made here about the rampant commercialisation of football and its effect on matchgoing fans - old news, yes, but still leaves a bad taste in the mouth for any fan. I'm still waiting for the day that I get to visit OT - although the way things are going, I am not entirely sure what my impressions are going to be...

I know Utd are very different to Arsenal but the club could view that seat as revenue banked and want to sell higher tier tickets which are usually all that might be available at the Emirates on General Sale. Arsenal would view the passing on of STs as lost revenue. It depends on whether United are similar and can sell General Sale at up to or beyond £120 a seat.

This is ridiculous.

I am so sorry for you my friend. i have known you 10 years and this just infuriates me. United can be such money grubbing scum at times.

Again my apologies you are being punished for your kindness.

I don't think this is is a touting issue now, more of a safety issue. I'm guessing a lot of the strictness is maybe in response to the attacks in Manchester. The club does have the right to know exactly who comes and leaves old trafford in case of any incident.

They would be losing money because a lot of people buying tickets this way from a season ticket holder... they are non-members. The club wants fans to have to buy memberships to get tickets because it’s more money for them. I’m sure this is the real reason they don’t like fans selling on their tickets.

Absolutely this, I am hoping to visit soon. It would be a dream come true, I might have to buy a ticket from someone like Sultan. But the fact that the club is being so mean, just doesn't sit right with me. If it was security or some other concern, they could just implement a system, where a ST holder loads the details of the person he has transferred the ticket too on the Club Website/Ticket Portal so the club knows who is coming to the ground.

But if the stadium is full and you can't get a ticket then I can't see the problem in that a ST holder gives his seat for someone to make their dream come true.

I've had seat checks a number of times and been caught with others using tickets. The principle is they allow transfer of tickets to friends and family. Not complete strangers off the internet.

These days they have concern with security issues when passed onto strangers even if we're no touts. In a way I understand.
This is the exact issue. I feel that it is a security issue and not about touting. They may be your friends but to the club, they do not know who they are and most importantly how they got the tickets.

No need for a petition, ring customer services and ask about it. Hell you can drive down and talk to them.

I personally don’t see a problem with it either and I think the club are wrong to punish fans like this when real touting is the issue... not fans selling on at FV.

I just believe the reason they are doing it is because they know it impacts membership sales and it’s all about the money for them. I think to say that fans selling on at FV has no financial impact for the club isn’t really true... even though as far as I’m concerned, they make more than enough from our fans.

Sorry to hear. 4 of my mates (2x2) have had theirs confiscated too. They’re not touts, just fans who wanted to sell at FV and got caught. One had theirs on sale publicly on Facebook, the other unknowingly sold it to a tout at FV, who got caught.

United are ruthless, and are punishing the wrong people.

If the club really want to tackle the touts, just do an in house ticket exchange* which becomes available once the game is a sell out.

No exchange and punishing fans for passing on at FV means a closed market, which is better for the touts.

*Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool all have an exchange.

I guess you are right I just think the club is making a mistake in punishing the local english supporters for such a little thing. The locals are the ones creating the atmosphere and are the ones usually singing and cheering
