United in advanced talks to confirm Betway as the new training kit sponsor

I've always liked the fact that we've never had a betting company as our main sponsor (and in fact never had a betting company logo anywhere on our shirt unless I'm mistaken?) - so I'd be a bit miffed by this, but money is money I suppose.

Bit rubbish that clubs agree to remove them as main sponsors from 26/27 but then they can just do this instead.

Don't think any club should have gambling sponsors.

Yeah we've never had one as a shirt sponsor but we have had sponsorship deals with the likes of Betfred and Bwin in the past.

I understand smaller clubs who need the money and would struggle to attract other types of sponsors going down that road, but this can feck off.

I mean I get having betting partners (people will want to bet in the ground at the end of the day) but think there's a different level to having their logos plastered on your shirt.

What's wrong with alcohol?
I was reading an article recently that said it was the worst out of cocaine and heroin and other drugs, because it is legal.

I have had relatives die young because they were alcoholics.

You would've liked to have thought United would've been above this.

Have we ever been sponsored by a betting company? I know Mansion were reported to be in the running to be the principal sponsor 20 years ago and then we went with AIG, and Mansion went with Spurs.

Betting company sponsors is usually the lesser club sponsors no?

Bad. And a betting company??

Just when you thought INEOS couldn’t slide any lower in estimation.

Yeah not to sure this one.

Although I'm in a thread about United getting a betting company as a training kit sponsor with a BETFRED ad offering "£50 in free bets when I stake £10"

Not happy, but I guess morals left the game behind years ago.

It is worse only because it is cheap, easily accessible and far more people drink it as opposed to class A drugs.

It is less addictive and is totally fine in moderation. Like most things, if you don't abuse it and have too much of it, then alcohol is fine. The same can't be said of heroin and cocaine.

Not to mention the damage that the drugs trade has on communities and the crime that comes with drugs, not from takers, but from cartels, drug barrons and even low level dealers.

These drugs are illegal for a reason, they are much more damaging to society than alcohol, because small doses (heroin) can kill and also make a person easily addicted.

Not really surprising I guess. Made worse by the fact it's a shite design.

Well that's the last time I'm buying a training top. I'm not humiliating myself by having my moobs tightly compressed during my weekly trip to Sainsbury's trying to give the impression I've ever broken into so much as a jog in my life whilst adverting a betting company
