United in advanced talks to confirm Betway as the new training kit sponsor

Don't like a betting company as a sponsor. I've seen it ruin people.

Paid on Friday, bookies by 10am and broke by 10:30.

Betting sponsors on main kits will be officially banned from next season in the PL, but i guess that doesn't apply to training kits.

Betting is a societal scourge, but this deal makes absolutely no difference to me. All previous sponsors didn't suddenly make me want to look into their products.

I am sympathetic towards those that have been plagued by betting addictions & appreciate that they may not want to see this on their screen.

Tezos was paying £24m per year, which is a third more than what Betway are proposing here.

This is what we waited a year for?

Bit rubbish that clubs agree to remove them as main sponsors from 26/27 but then they can just do this instead.

Don't think any club should have gambling sponsors.
100% agreed. Despise it.
Sadly most United YouTube Channels also have a ton of betting companies as regular sponsors of their videos. Even the better ones (in my opinion only, of course) like UnitedPeoplesTV talk about stupid gambling almost every other video. It's the curse of YouTube I guess.
Makes me sad every time.

Well that's the last time I'm buying a training top. I'm not humiliating myself by having my moobs tightly compressed during my weekly trip to Sainsbury's trying to give the impression I've ever broken into so much as a jog in my life whilst adverting a betting company
Same, same. But with bigger moobs.

Betting companies should be banned across all sports. It is modern black plague, especially in poorer countries like mine.
In 2025 we spend 1,56B km (1km is roughly 0.51€) on betting. We have have populatio of 3m (and it way less beacuse of lot people live abroad, it is closer to 2m). I have seen pensioners playing bingo, dog races ect...

Wonder why the drop-off, especially now with us in Europe

This should be illegal. If I had my way, you wouldn’t be allowed to advertise gambling companies at all anywhere.

Don’t like it but a training ground partner is better then on the main shirt like Real Madrid used to have

Grim. We have enough money and no need to stoop to this just for a bit more. Pretty shit from the club.

Don’t care if it brings in more cash. No one is buying the training kit.

Yeah, thought we could have negotiated higher.

That being said, training kits seem to have a ceiling of below 30m anyway.

Disappointing from the club but let's face it we're soulless on the corporate side already so do we actually expect any better.

Oh, I didn't realise they were crypto

If its any consolation I only found out they were Crypto as well today

As regards Betfair, pretty meh about it. We have already long standing links with BetFred and I havent bought any training gear in years anyway so yeah.

It is worse only because it is cheap, easily accessible and far more people drink it as opposed to class A drugs.

It is less addictive and is totally fine in moderation. Like most things, if you don't abuse it and have too much of it, then alcohol is fine. The same can't be said of heroin and cocaine.

Not to mention the damage that the drugs trade has on communities and the crime that comes with drugs, not from takers, but from cartels, drug barrons and even low level dealers.

These drugs are illegal for a reason, they are much more damaging to society than alcohol, because small doses (heroin) can kill and also make a person easily addicted.
I don’t think cocaine belongs with heroin as far as addictiveness goes. Sugar, yes, if I recall correctly. Not much disagreement with the other aspects though.

At least it's not our main kit. It's not like we've not had betting sponsors before (Betfred all over the gaff)

Training kit still gets plenty of media exposure though - unlike minor 'partners' like Betfred

Shame we chose to go this way - I'm pretty sure we rejected gambling shirt sponsors in the past on ethical grounds but INEOS don't give a feck

You've seemingly contradicted yourself. You said alcohol was worse in your first paragraph; you then said (drugs) 'are more damaging to society than alcohol' in your final paragraph.

You were correct in your first paragraph.

Alcohol kills more people than all other drugs combined.

Not a fan of this. You can't advertise smoking and drinking, gambling should be no different. Clubs won't be allowed to have main kit betting sponsors from next season either. But it can be everywhere else in the stadiums on matchday and other jerseys etc.

Sky/TNT also have gambling ads all over every broadcast, they also advertise Army recruitment too during games, which I think is a bit much.

Yeah.
It's preying on addiction.
Would they allow 'Sniffway' or 'Bongtoke' if drugs were legal?

Was it Demba Ba that wouldn't have the gambling sponsorship on his jersey due to religion? Only to be found in a casino later that week or something like that
