Over what distance? I was hoping James would be top given that speed was one of the main reasons we bought him.

Also Luke Shaw bottom?

Isn't it just maximum speed reached in a particular training session which doesn't really mean a lot (other than maybe a sign of what effort they were putting in). There are always surprises when such results are release at World Cup etc.

There is no way Shaw wouldn't beat Mata's top speed in any sprint.

Shaw said he was told to only go at 70% to be fair. Seems a bit petty of Rom to leak this rubbish. Seems he takes twitter fans' analysis of him to heart...

I've been waiting for this thread. Apparently Lukaku leaked it to answer critics, and Shaw wasn't best pleased. Anyone with more info?

Anyoen with eyes can see that Shaw is not the slowest from that list, so it doesn't mean much.

Actual Glazers are faster than Mata

Despite the weight issues, I always thought Shaw was rapid at top speed, a bit like Rooney was :confused::confused:

Shaw has already come out and said he was instructed to run at 70% for those tests.

Not really. We got pretty fast players

Shaw did not push it max. He would be in the top 5 if he did.

Also it’s top speed and not acceleration.

Top speed depending a lot with how you feel that particular day.

Would not read to much in to Shaws result tbf. The good thing though is that we are pretty fast all over.

Speed test from the 10th of July that Lukaku posted last night with Lebron James tagged in it.

This was over the period of time Shaw pulled out of the game with a tight hamstring. Nothing really to see here except quite surprised Dalot is that fast.

Shitty of ROM to leak those stats though. You don't do that to your teammates unless you're leaving the club or something......oh

Unfortunately for Lukaku, top speed doesn't mean all that much in a game of football.

He's like a freight train when he gets going. Sadly, he happens to take as long to get going as a freight train as well.

Either Luke was holding back like he said, or its the fact that he usually comes back from preseason a bit bloated. Once he gets back to full fitness, he should be somewhere in the middle, well ahead of Matic for sure.

Shaw already said he was instructed not to go at full speed, so I would guess many others had it the same.

Surprised at how fast Chong is with that big 'fro. Shaving it off should give him the edge over the squad.

If you look past Shaws results, its still pretty amazing. Everybody saying Bailly is fast should have a look.

If this is without the ball then it's pointless. I'm pretty sure Lingard or Lukaku can outrun Messi without the ball but that doesn't matter right?

Use your eyes, he clearly is fast. He out paced aubameyang Last season who’s supposed to be rapid.

1 test from a training session doesn’t mean anything, it was just Lukaku cherry picking a time he was the top.

Do you really think mata is faster than Shaw for example? It’s bs.

The Shaw being last is a surprise. He must have been holding back due to injury...

These sort of stats are always a bit misleading.

If it's over 100metres for instance, when would a player ever do that in a game.

Lukaku might have the second top speed, on this particular trial, but his massive problems are that he takes 15mins to be able to do it again, and can't control a sack of rusty knobs.

I read his tweet like he was joking, but presumably not if he was last. No way he's behind Matic and Mata.

Pallister was the fastest over 100m at the club back when Utd had kanchelskis and probably peak speed Giggs. It doesn't matter, the same as when people point to Maguire having a high top speed, football is all about quick reactions, agility, constant short sprints, quickness on the turn.. Pretty rare for most players to ever get up to their full speed.
