4 very talented under 18’s signed in 1 summer.

Leny Yoro (CB, 18)
Sékou Koné (DM, 18)
Chido Obi-Martin (CF, 16)
Samuel Lusale (Winger, 16)

Low risk / high reward.

Love to see it.

Tbf we've been doing it for a while

Hannibal
Amad
Pellistri

Shaw
Martial
Dalot
AWB
Sancho

Generally the issues been once they've got here. Shaw, Dalot, AWB and Martial have been the success stories - but even then it's been a pain at times. AWBs probably had the most straightforward development.

We certainly have done it before. But 3 in 1 summer just feels different.

Apparently this is being more focused on by INEOS.

Garnacho, Fernández, Amass… We definitely have.

I see some of those differently.

More interested in Amass, Collyer, Fletcher etc. Much like Garnacho who is becoming a real success.

Signed young and cheap with time to develop in the academy.

Honestly I wouldn't classify the former with the Shaws/Martials/Sanchos/AWB's at ALL. All of those players were already having success at the highest level in the PL or CL.

Ratcliffe did promise we wouldnt miss out on young players and in 3 years go and try and pay 80 million for them.

This is where, in particular, the new football structure will pay massive dividends. The guys we've hired live for identifying top young talent.

Those are 2 different categories of players surely.
And Wan Bissaka at up to 50m hardly counts anyway. Plus it's difficult to say he's actually developed really anyway, he came in great at 1-2-1 defending but not particularly brilliant at marking or staying awake, plus poor offensively, and pretty much stayed the same to the end.

Absolutely brilliant. We are building from the youth <16 and signing quality 18/24 at the right price, instead of being ripped off (Pogba, Antony, Sancho etc). Ineos are repairing the damage of the last decade and hopefully this propels us to regular top 4 and in 2/3 years a title challenge.

This is a must when I start an FM save.

Sweep up all the best 16-18 year olds I can. Get them some decent loans. Then a few seasons in, I can mostly avoid the transfer market and just promote from within

Really like seeing us making these signings. Brings up the interest of following our youth team even more.

Was hoping we’d sign Malick Yalcouye, but Brighton signed him. He’s been brilliant as an 18 year old playing senior football in a dysfunctional team in Sweden.

Hope Koné can turn into a good long term partner to Mainoo. Feels like we can potentially have a proper spine in defence and midfield in the future

We've done it for the last few years but perhaps not as effectively or as consistently as we'd like to be and Brexit has brought some restrictions in play too.

Just to name a few:

Garnacho
Mejbri
Jurado
Fernandez
Kambwala

It's about widening our network now and reaching areas of the market that we've not utilised enough or at all in past. Vivell will definitely help us with this. Really encouraging times. I just hope we have the right personnel in place to help navigate these youngsters' pathways.

We've always done this. Either brought through local youngsters or brought them in and developed them.

It's one of the few things we have consistently still done better than most other teams post SAF

Ole played a large part in the latest few years even after he'd gone he'd identified a bunch of the most promising young talent. If he could manage as well as that he'd still be here.

I think ole can manage. As a coach and technician, he’s championship /div 1 quality

They do look like a talented trio and English to boot!
I look forward to watching their progression over the coming years.

Loving this approach. Buying even more youth players before they become mega expensive later on. Credit to the new management structure I am guessing.

We have been doing this, the latest academy products are Greenwood, Garnacho, Mainoo and Amad. Very impressive list.

The best is still Giggs, Beckham, Gary, Phil, Butt and Scholes. All Mand Utd legends.

I don't think Amad has ever played for United at Academy level .

I think United have always done this. Sometimes it works out, mostly it doesn't. The idea is obviously a cheap way to have a high class player and worse case scenario they can sell them on for really good profit if it doesn't work out.

I think a lot more fans have been 'tuning in' to more happenings behind the scene due to the INEOS takeover of football operations and all the talk of all these new people in certain roles that we shouldn't really know too much like we all do now. Shows how bad its been for such a long time!

Most fans of most clubs wouldn't know the names of high executives bar maybe the CEO and Sporting Directors.

I still cant believe the club landed Leny Yoro considering he was Real Madrid bound and whenever that happens they always go there. Cant think of any top talent that snubbed Real Madrid in the last 10 years. Even that microplastic prick Ronaldo went there when United were better than Madrid. Then you have Varane, Kross, Modric, Oodegard, the list is endless.

We have always have signed or tried to sign highly rated young players from the UK or abroad. However, the gloss of the shiny little toy (INEOS here) is such that we have to praise them to high heavens for everything.

Even the sale of youth players with buyback and sell-on clauses are getting plaudits when we did similar deals for Zidane, Mengi etc just in the recent past.

The other 3 for sure, but I wouldn't call Yoro low risk.
He was 55M quid. Insanely talented yes but when Greenwood, Januzaj, or Jones were that age we all thought we had superstars on our hands.
There's a long list of young players who never hit their potential for one reason or another. Yoro is a pretty big risk.

We got the highly rated Marital from France for a very high fee too. His add-ons included a Balon d'or clause.

That made my morning, thank you.

Great to see but I wouldn’t put Yoro on that list. He’s not as low risk as the others given the transfer fees involved.

How has martial been a success story?

Not the first to point this out, but our youth recruitment has been excellent for years.

I see only one really highly rated youngster here, Yoro. BUT. I've read an article about his injuries. In this article the author mentioned that Yoro was really prone to injuries even when he was really young and that's one of the reason why neither Real Madrid, nor PSG wanted to pay big money for him. (The other was the fact that he had only one year left of his contract.). Dunno if that's the case but yeah, we all know that he's already out for a longer period. One thing's for sure, INEOS took a high risk by paying so much for him. On top of that, Yoro claimed several times that his dream is to play for the spaniards, so his motivation to play for United can be questionable.

Well, how many of these recruited youngsters became a success? I'm not cynical, just asking. Apart from Garnacho.
