United Women | Player of the Season

This is going to be tough, in part because there are so many deserving candidates (as evidenced in the preceding discussion), and in part because it's hard for me to be totally objective. For example, I'll always be biased toward PTJ because she's from my side of the pond, and I'll always be biased toward Ella Toone because, well, because she's friggin' Ella Toone.

I'm going to wait until the last opportunity to vote, though at this point I can say that I'm leaning toward MLT. She has rapidly developed into such a great center back -- both as a defender and as an orchestrator of the offense -- and she's the team captain. I don't know a lot about what team captains actually do off the pitch, but whatever she's been doing has got be a big reason for the team's success. Plus, giving the award to the team captain would be the closest one could get to giving it to the entire team.

OK, I've submitted my vote: for MLT, for reasons I alluded to in a previous post but will elaborate here.

First, I think we can probably all agree that our success this season was attributable more to our defense than our offense, so IMO the POTY should be a defender. Of those, I think MLT has been (arguably) the best of the bunch, and she's been the leader of that back line -- as well as captain of the team.

I love PTJ as much as anybody, and have no argument with anyone who votes for her, but I chose otherwise for the same reason she would give herself: A significant part of her success in goal has been a back line that just hasn't allowed opponents very many quality shots against her.

Such a tough one. This season has really been about the team and how well they have worked together, rather than any one individual, so ideally let them all share it!

But I have gone for Maya. Taking over from Zelem, and at such a young age, at a club of this size, she has just taken it all in her stride. Her performances have been outstanding, not only in defence, but also pinging creative passes all over the place. Effortlessly.

She is a natural leader, and so calm, measured and humble. And she scores goals!

They say that great minds think alike. Evidently, so do we!

For me its clearly Le Tissier.

She's been a level above Riviere and Tullis-Joyce who would be my next 2 in the top 3

Women's team players' player of the year goes to Phallon Tullis Joyce:

Women's team fan vote player of the year goes to Ella Tooone:

Happy for Phallon, happy for Tooney. Not my choice, but no complaints whatsoever.

I do like the fact that the players chose PTJ - She's had a phenomenal season.

Reading Ella's posts about the win, it sounded almost as if she was apologising for winning again!

She voted for Phallon in the player's vote as well

Maya Le Tiss has been fantastic. Tullis-Joyce too. Clinton and Miyazawa maybe impressed me most of the forward players. But I think it is also easy to underestimate Ella Toone, based on high expectations. She delivers so much in most games, she seems very important to the team.
