Bit weak in centre-mid with Johnsen and Olsen out of position but what a front 3, and strong defence. Hopefully no injuries as the bench are all pish!

Suppose Mctominay worthy of the bench nowadays. Big shout leaving Fletcher out of the XI
Tough call leaving Fletch out yeah, but Crerand has to be in there for his passing-range and thuggery, and Choccy for his indefatigability and ability to pop up with an important goal.

Could've gone 3-5-2 with Fletch in instead of Jordan I guess.

Nah McTominay is English.

Vidic as one man defence shielded by Matic. Tactics is get the ball to one of the six wingers to feed Berbatov. I know Januzaj plays for Belgium but he qualifies through his Kosovo roots otherwise I’d have to start with 10 men.

Irish.

I'm going for an all Ireland team, politics aside. On paper that looks a cracking team

L Whelan R Keane J Giles G Best

N Whiteside F Stapleton

Sheasy on the bench for his versatility

ROI? Sure somebody can improve this...

-----------------Roache

---Irwin--McGrath---O'Shea---Dunne

------Giles---Moran---Keane

----Brady---Stapelton----L.Whelan
Pat Dunne was a better keeper for us than Paddy Roach, in the 60's, before we signed Alex Stepney. Roach was a complete liability when he had a short run for us in the 70's. Ashley Grimes worth a shout too for his versatility.

I was going to do Iberian but there weren't enough defenders so I've gone for Spanish + Portuguese speakers instead

De Gea

Rafael Pique Rojo Heinze

Herrera

Fernandes Mata

Nani Ronaldo Tevez

Bench: Romero, Valencia, Fabio, Veron, Anderson, Hernandez, Forlan

Dishonourable mentions: Di Maria, Falcao, Bebe, Kleberson

Toughest choice was probably Mata over Veron but Mata has done more for us.

I'd probably have Fred in for Mata for balance purposes. I think Veron was better for us than Mata too.

Phil Neville get the nod over Roger Byrne?
Never saw Roger Byrne play. I was 6 yrs old at the time. Edwards is of course an automatic choice whether or not I'd seen him myself. I thought about putting Byrne in, but for some reason, I thought he played at RB and I chose Gary Neville instead. See now his position was LB and therefore he gets my vote over Phil Neville. So yes he should've been in that team!

Oh right, I knew you were one of the more erm mature posters on the forum and just presumed you had seen Byrne play and maybe didn't rate him as you'd included Big Dunc in your team, it's all good!

That's a bloody good team that. Looking through the amount of players who are or were on our books that played for NI is incredible.

Ollie Norwood
Paddy McNair
Corrie Evans
Craig Cathcart
Jordan Thompson
Roy Carroll
and more recently Ethan Galbraith

You can add Ferdinand (St Lucia) and Andy Cole (Jamaica) too. Hell, if you look up any of our black English players there is a chance they'd have qualified for a Caribbean country. Smalling is also of Jamaican descent but I'm not sure how far back. Think Paul Ince has Trini descent too.

GK: Milinkovic-Savic
DF: Vidic (more than enough to cover defensively for 3 players)
MF: Matic, Djordjic, Jovanovic, Tosic
FW: Januzaj, Ibrahimovic, Ljajic

weird team with two players who never played for us but signed contracts (Milinkovic-Savic and Ljajic)

A whole Island Irish team:

GK (no clue)
O'Shea Evans Moran Irwin

McGrath
Keane Giles

Best Stapleton Whiteside

Pretty good side, I imagine I'm missing at least a couple of players that would get into a best 11.
