Here's an opinion so unpopular and outrageous that I will probably be chastised quite severely, but I just can't hold it in any longer. I think we need to sign a new central midfielder.
Wow, you're quite the edgy maverick coming out with ideas like that.

I'm with Rory. As much as we criticize Moyes, we wouldn't have been where we are if all of our players, especially senior ones, played as well as they could.
They're all to blame. The players shouldn't need motivating, but the manager should be able to motivate.

He should Livvie I agreed. But maybe its impossible to motivate this group if we don't have a leader amongst them. Which we don't, in my opinion.

Benitez would be a decent manager for us and would make us hard to beat.

Surely though the manager is the leader , but if you mean his leader on the pitch ,I cant agree more , Did he think that Fellani could bring that?

He'd be better than our current one. Only thing with Benitez is that our fans hate him so much that he'd only have to lose one game and they'd all want him gone.

Yes I mean the leader on the pitch. I doubt he hoped Fellaini would bring that. If anything Jagielka was his leader on the pitch at Everton. Who can you honestly say leads United on the pitch?

Smalling is a brilliant defender and should start every game at centre back.

I have no idea how popular that opinion is... but it's an opinion nontheless.

They would. And Fergie hates him with a passion. Just saying that he was hated at Chelsea but still did a pretty good job with them. He is a whiny cnut and I could never take to him. But you can't argue with his record and he has big club experience.

The posters who don't like Welbeck are mostly just jilted Hernandez fanboys.
Or people who don't like strikers who either fall over or lose the ball every time he receives it. I've only ever seen Welbeck play well when the rest of the team is. He's not a match winner in any sense. Hernandez can be.

Michael Carrick is quite good. But nothing more. I genuinely think he could be very easily replaced, with someone more dynamic, who has the drive to operate high up the pitch, as well as infront of his own back four. I think we hugely talk-up how good he is, purely because he is the shining light in our godawful midfield.

He is good, but largely limited. But we are also fecked without him, because all our other midfielders are very poor.

Nobody, as I said I couldn't agree more , But in my opinion honestly , the players lack confidence and are scared shitless every time the opposition attacks , For me as a supporter, we lack cohesion, as if we don't know what to do next or how to do it that's the manager or maybe we are all reading this wrong and its the coaches who are not up to the job.

I don't think Carrick is that much better than Gareth Barry when it comes down to it.

Leighton Baines gets a bit of an unfair rap on here because it's a Moyes signing from Everton. He'd be an ideal signing for us due to his attacking threat which we clearly lack. By not getting him it's fecked up the squad (Evra looks like he can't be arsed and he was Moyes biggest outlet at Everton probably)

Too many of our players are looking like they aren't interested. Whilst Moyes isn't blameless some of them just seem to walk around like they're not arsed and probably use the logic Moyes won't last long.

Rafael will never be a top full back like people seem to think. He's too clumsy and rash.

Cleverley with the right manager and tactics has the potential to be more than just a squad player.

Ferguson's reliance on really good players over a well integrated and tactically good team was his downfall. (in the later years)

Not sure, he's proven largely average under both Ferguson and Moyes.
Because he's been forced to play in a midfield two, where Carrick is seriously immobile. Ferguson's method of moulding existing players into new positions being the main reason.

It wasn't really his downfall, he won the league last year. It was short sighted management if anything, he knew he hadn't long left.

I just don't see what he offers other than safe passes and high energy levels. Just an average midfielder to me.

Yeah, by buying RVP(which was a great stopgap).
He shoehorned Cleverley and Anderson into roles they were not suitable for.
Moyes is doing the same with Smalling on the right side, but that's a different story.
