I am depressingly shocked at how little I actually care. There are probably few posters who have posted as much about the USMNT over the years on here, but I genuinely give very few fecks.
The current worst timeline we are in precludes any real enjoyment in supporting the national team. I was really looking forward to this tournament when I went to the Russia World Cup, but now that it's here, I just don't care. I have a sneaking suspicion that the orange turd is going to ruin any sort of achievement we make, like, if we make it into the quarters, it'll be used as propaganda.
This is the least optimistic I’ve been about the team in a long, long time. Poch really hasn’t improved the team. Our defense isn’t great and the attack is fairly hit or miss.
I think for us to stand a chance we need to win the group. First game against Paraguay is crucial and then hope for the best against Turkey.
I think America needs to produce a really, really top level star for the sport to explode here. Had hopes on Pulisic and Reyna but both have been meh, especially the latter. We need to produce (or import-even better actually) a top 20ish level player and then I can see the sport coming into its own. Pity that won’t happen when we have the World Cup at home, which will be ruined by Drump anyway.

Same for me, minus the going-to-Russia part. When we won the bid, I was excited and started squirreling away money for what felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the US play a home World Cup game. Between the obscene prices and a crashing economy, those tickets, let alone the travel and hotels, are in a completely different universe from my budget.
Yeah, not really feeling it also. I went to Belgium v. Netherlands in Orlando in 1994 & it was fantastic. What a vibe. I just can't see those vibes happening at too many sites in 2026.
I’m going to Norway France at Gillette. I do the think the vibe will still be relatively good although living in NYC not having Italy in is a major loss.

Yeah the prices for all the US games are just absurd. Like you said, add to that travel + hotels for the west coast and it just becomes almost impossible to afford.
For me, it's the games. I live in Houston where there will be 7 games. The 5 first round games, outside of Sweden v Netherlands, are unbelievable crap. And I'm not paying hundreds of dollars to watch Germany beat up on an amateur side (Curaco) from the upper upper deck. I'm definitely not interested in seeing Saudi Arabia vs Cape Verde. I am going to England/Croatia in Dallas...but that's it. I can't imagine what the costs of the 2 knockout stage games are.
And I'm with you on lil trumpybear injecting himself into this even more and ruining the overall experience. It's bad enough we're about to see actual UFC fights on the grounds of the f***ing White House. We're enough of an international embarrassment at the moment. I just hope the USMNT does well enough. We should be in the Round of 16 at a bare minimum. Quarterfinals would be ideal.

I’ve never got how sport is consumed there. Nobody really seems to care about the sport. Whether it’s baseball, hockey, basketball, NFL or whatever they largely seem to observe with universal near-passive indifference.
It just seems to be a series of pauses whilst people go and get a hotdog and the sport is there to give them something to look at whilst eating.
Whenever there is noise or anything resembling an atmosphere for a few seconds it’s highly choreographed. I’ve seen those videos that show them trying to imitate European-style singing at games and you end up with 4000 singing “I HAVE FAITH WE WILL IMPROVE” or something and it makes you yearn for the silent indifference.
Sport there seems to exist purely as something to pass the time between commercials. Sports teams or “franchises” move around all the time and nobody thinks it’s strange. As if tomorrow Everton announced it was relocating to a new stadium in London and nobody thinks it odd and diehard fans react with the same visceral anger on the level of when someone finds out a Netflix show they were mildly entertained by gets cancelled or a streaming service they don’t subscribe to has the rights to the next season
As a big fan of the USMNT, I can't be bothered to care about this World Cup. It's embarrassing enough that dementia Don will find a way to interject himself over but we also have all the other issues looming over. Also, the "Sports Pundits" that we have know feck all about football and are using their yell louder than the next guy approach to so just how stupid they are, I'm talking about you Steven A Smith, Chris Brussard and how can I forget ole Nick ( I loved watching Peles last World Cup with my grandpa, and then got fact checked to be a 2 year old and a liar) Wright.

I have no problem with the squad, we may have left a few players out but the noise coming from living Luna out is just funny. They rode his image(mainly his Mexican roots hyping the fanbase) into the ground leading up to the roster announcement and then cut him but I have no problem with living him off, he's not better than anyone called up in the midfield plus his endurance is very suspect.
I see us going as far as our defense bending without breaking and nicking goals through mckinnie and pulisic

As a season ticket holder to an MLS team, it's sad especially since we are in an NFL stadium and can barely fill a 1/4 of it, but there is absolutely no atmosphere and most people want a quit outing. It's sad the state of the MLS is atmosphere wise minus a few teams with unbelievable atmospheres.
I put in for tickets in Seattle and then regretted it since it was around the time of the Good/Pretti murders. Fortunately, I didn't get them. I'll watch and will probably go to the bar for some matches, but my heart isn't in it. If you end up going to the Boot Room in Durham, let me know.

Went to an NBA game, truly an awful experience. The game itself is excellent up close, but f me, the noise never stops, shot clock, promotions, ads etc..
"This free throw is brought to you by McDonald's" etc.. some of them offer promotions on free food or some crap if one of the opposition misses a free throw.
