Terrorism has not been confirmed, nor ruled out. Turkish man is wanted. The feck is wrong with people. RiP to those who has lost their lives & a speedy recovery to the (confirmed) 9 injured.

I doubt it's (Islam) terrorism from the reports I'm hearing. He's been trialed couple of times for violence, was already involved in a shooting. Just seems a crazy tug.

Aargh I hope so hey. Worst thing could have been for him to claim it as some sort of retaliation to the New Zealand shooting. Humans know no bounds.

Was going to go to the library after class today but feel uneasy after this all unfolded while at Uni. I'm in Leiden which is about an hour away but doesn't feel right to be out at the moment. All the big public spaces like the train station were well patrolled by armoured police too which is intimidating. Feel safer at home right now.

This is going to be a shit-show now, as if it wasn't already. His profile is going to fuel the white supremacist cuntos to the max.

It sounds like a revenge on a woman thing. He also appeared on court over a rape course from 2017 not so long ago.

Don't know about terrorism, but he's apparently from a very religious family.

Let’s just hope this is not related to the NZ shooting at this point. Last fecking thing we need is right-wing and Islamist cuntlords getting involved in a tit-for-tat with the general populace paying the price.

    RIP the victims.

This human race is so depressingly hate-filled and imbecilic that you either become apathetic or you start thinking that a nuclear weapon-armed madman pressing the red button and ending it all might actually not be the worst thing.

Some video from eight years ago resurfaced, and apparently, the shooter appeared in it. Around 3:00, look for Jean Claude Van Damme.

Him and his boy are fecking creeps. The way that dude keeps grabbing his groin while talking to her sets off so many alarm bells.

That doesn't really look like him compared to the image the police put out.

From what it looks like right now, he probably was out to kill his ex-girlfriend who accused him of rape.

It's really irresponsible to post a thing like that at this point in the story.

They've arrested the suspect just now.

Read a newspaper report earlier with an interview with someone who was sitting in a tram compartment behind the one where it took place, it's all very tragic.

Sounds very unlikely. If he just wanted to kill his ex-girlfriend he wouldnt have done it on a tram, and 7+ other people wouldnt have ended up shot.

Plus the "family dispute" angle is being pushed by a Turkish news agency.

Shooter may have been attempting a forensic countermeasure by attacking random people in addition to his intended target. People suck. RIP.

What the media have been reporting over here about the suspect via family and people that know him, it's a bit of a weird mix up of a very mentally unstable person. He's described as a renowned drug dealer who switched up phases of maniacal alcohol and cocaine use with months of sobriety where he dressed and acted like a very devout muslim.

Long criminal record and record of mental instability, cases of attempted manslaughter, drug dealing, robberies and firearms related. Attempted suicide once by jumping from a three story building. His brother is known by the authorities for flirting with extremistic branches of Islam, some of his other family are described as deeply religious, which is where the terrorism angle came in.

Two weeks ago the preliminary/research phase of a trial started against him, for raping and assaulting his former girlfriend back in 2017, which is now speculated to be the thing that pushed him over the edge.

Terror anyway. They found a note with the usual IS, infidels, death to the enemies of Allah tripe.

And that one day before the election. Will do wonders for the results.
