Got lucky with the offside and made quite a few mistakes which weren’t punished. However his distribution looked better today. Still a mile away from what a top club should have playing at the back.

Loved his passion wish half the bunch of wasters in the squad shared it.

Huge credit to him at the end there. Winning that battle despite the injury. Well done!

Hats off to him. He showed more balls than smalling has done in his whole career. Was everywhere and defending like boss.

Played pretty well today, he would be a properly good player in a higher line. Hope he's not going to be injured for a month now.

Made a few mistakes with positioning and expecting Matic to be competent but one thing I will give him is that he showing far more fight and heart in his game as proven by his late game work while injured.

Loved the battling on with a pulled groin (assumption). Brilliant past few performances. Still skeptical, though.

Agree on the Matic thing but i don't think he made anything else too costly today. The offside goal was offside for a reason.

Thought he was really poor today.

It's nice to see that fighting spirt at the end, but overlooking his performance because of it is the exact reason dross like Young is still at the club.

Do divulge these mistakes please.
Already did in the match thread. But since you dont seem to have seen the match :

Who says Lindelof isnt strong in the air? That was a decent headed goal. Too bad it was our end
This was when he headed the ball into the Palace player goalside of him and it ended in our net. There was a Palace player offside thankfully.

He also got tight to a Palace player and the ball was flicked on, taking him completely out of things in one move.

And then when he and Matic let Townsend run through them like they didnt exist :

Matic and Lindelof with the aggression of a toddler letting Townsend run straight through them
So there you go. Those were his main mistakes today. He also made some good contributions at other times.

If you're going to miss the next match let me know and I can think about writing a match report for you ahead of time.

A poor defensive performance. Caught out many times and couldn't handle Palace movement.

The Townsend chance was due to Matic clumsy touch.

Played really good. Need better dmf in front of cb's so they don't come running at us all the time. If we start with a more offensive team/setup/higher press/want to play attitude, he will shine even more.

1. You mean the one where Pogba lost his marking needing Lindelof to bail him out and the ball somehow ended up in the back of net? Bit of a fluke but then it was ruled out.

2. Matic should have dealt with that, and it was a nice piece of skill by Townsend, would have left many defenders for dead, but then it's always a mistake by the defender and never a good action by the attacker if it's a player you've got an agenda towards that you've set out to micro-critize for the rest of his United career, regardless of performance. Must be exhausting.

1. He headed the ball onto a player towards his own goal.

2. He completely lost his awareness of the situation.

He was good today. He's looked more and more settled and seems to know how to set himself up next to Smalling. His passing is still not quite creative, but as a defender, he's gotten a lot better. I hope this trajectory continues.

It's not a poor individual performance if a defender makes an error or two, just as it's not a poor performance overall if an attacker makes a mistake, a poor pass, misses a sitter etc.

It is ok to say Lindelof played well but made a few errors or mistakes. You can't expect a flawless performance with that midfield in front of him and midfield runners breaking through at will. He and Smalling did ok considering.

Will probably be out for few matches now, gutted really, but at least some of our fans will get their wish and see Jones back in the team.

Appreciate his fight but he’s not a top level CB. Still can’t head a ball and poor positioning. Why people accept this level is beyond me

He may not be our best player but he was not garbage. Any defender is going to make mistakes without any covering midfield. Matic has been horrible. You may get the best central defender in the world but with Matic in front of him he is going to make mistakes.
