He has his abilities, a big problem is playing next to Maguire who I don't think he trusts.

He does look better when he has someone more reliable and capable next to him.

Does Maguire has chemistry with anyone? Even Varane , and Martinez (early this season) couldn't play well having to partner him.

Lindelof is decent at best, but he's easier to plug into the team without the worry that he may somehow infect his partner performance.

Watching the worst player ever who played regulary for Man Utd? Of course it does make me frustrated. He should be in Swansea or Bristol. Not in Man Utd
This sums up my opinion anout McT.

Lindelof however i like. He is not first 11 quality but i am very happy having him as 3rd choice. With Varane or Lisandro he plays well. No nonsense, doing his job and he is a lot braver to go higher on the pitch.

Bellion was worse but not sure he counts as a regular.

He defo plays better on the right and not next to Maguire. You do see the drop off in quality between him and varane.
And I guess with him playing lcb', it's clear why Eth went with Shaw as head of him / Maguire for that spot

We should keep him cause it doesnt matter if him or Maguire play instead of Maguire, quality is basically the same.

He's, hopefully, never going to be a starter here again. I'd say sell if the price is right. He's good as a back up but still I would rather have a CB with potential that can develop and actually challenge for the starting place in the medium term.

If Maguire goes he'll get plenty of games as 3rd choice CB. Grab a young 4th CB with potential and we'd be sorted for a good few years there.

I rate him as a decent back up to Varane and Martinez but if he goes and Maguire leaves we'll need a new centre back or two in the summer.

Wouldn't blame him for leaving. He's better than 3rd choice but not good enough for first choice with Varane and Martinez.

I would of course much prefer him to stay than Harold but I suspect Harold is more okay with the idea of riding out his career here on the bench.

Still, a part of me will die when he goes :(

Was going through all the international games highlights and came across this. Was expecting Lukaku-isms as he had scored a hat trick.

Instead, what else is there to say other than seeing this typical Lindelof 'defending' for all three goals.

As his 'peak', I would fully expect people to defend him with the standard 'he wasn't directly at fault for these goals, he was in a good position but his team mates failed at their jobs and it was a good ball by the opponent'. Except we've heard this literally multiple dozens of times over multiple dozens of incidents against opposition of all variety over the years. The one common denominator isn't the criticism, it's the fact Lindelof consistently fails to take the initiative when dealing with defensive incidents.

So so bad.

He was awful for Sweden. Captaincy needs to be given to someone else and ideally Lindelöf should be replaced in the starting XI by someone like Isak Hien. Harsh, but he’s just that bad.

It is a pity he cannot put in a decent performance for his country so we could ask for a decent fee for him in the summer but with his latest one we would have to be paying another club to take him off our hands.

Maybe you should start watching games instead of YouTube?

Myself and others have watched hundreds of Lindelof's games over the years. Everything he did defensively or rather didn't, specifically for those goals conceded in the highlights are exactly the same things he's shown multiple dozens of times during his Utd career. It's not a microcosm or cherry picked stats, it's literally a real life example from a day or two ago. I'm not commenting after one game highlight, I'm commenting after hundreds of hours of seeing him play.

What is your point? Are you trying to defend Lindelof and say he played good in that game against Belgium? It doesn't matter if he had 0% dribbled past, 100% pass/tackle/interception or whatever, he was objectively poor for all 3 goals and that's what he has been judged on.

It may be a 'one-off' poor game but it's a perfect representation of his consistent deficiencies:

1st goal, one person to cover and in no man's land aerially.
2nd goal, on his heels, marking Lukaku's back and doesn't get goal side.
3rd goal, on his heels, slow to box out, doesn't commit to close the space, ball or man.

You can copy and paste that to a lot of incidents involving him at Utd and it wouldn't miss a beat word for word.

I have no issues giving you benefit of the doubt and will engage in reasonable discussion but you're clearly a fanboy. The sooner we rid of Lindelof, I'd imagine your activity on these boards will diminish as well.

Such a strange fandom given to a thoroughly unremarkable player. Whatever makes you happy internet big man.

Obsessive  Oh the irony. Joins Cafe months after transfer, 5+ years here, literal thousands of posts dedicated to defending Lindelof.

Fanboy can't take truthful comments after his idol is marginalised from the team. Oh the bitter, bitter tears.

It’s a fan forum, so don’t see anything wrong in liking United players. What is more remarkable is your obsessive hate. I bet you didn’t even watch the game, but came straight in here to make your “critical analysis” of his game based on a YouTube clip. If so, that is truly remarkable.

Him and Maguire both think they're better than they are, I like that they rather go than stay as back ups. It frees space to bring promising CBs that can actually become starting quality. I think Lindelof would suit very well in the spanish league, he's got good technical skills but lacks the agressiveness and physicallity to dominate in the premier league.

I dont know why but I think he'll go to Sevilla.

Tbh it doesn't matter what criticalanalysis thinks. On the other hand, it looks like even the manager doesn't rate Lindelof - it looks like people (including myself) who thought he was average weren't all that wrong.

Absolutely and I have no problem with that. This is about notorious posters who target certain United players to take a shot at them at any moment they can, even after only watching a YouTube clip. The manager prefers Martinez and Varane as starters, and they have played roughly half of the matches together this season. I’m not sure that means that the manager doesn’t rate any players outside the starting xi however.
