isn't his scoring record completely average. Why do fees like this get mentioned for guys who've already moved for huge money and done basically nothing

Of all the available strikers I've actually seen enough of to have an opinion on, he'd be the one I wanted. But I fear he may be too expensive for our tastes this summer.
I think he's potentially very good but at that price won't be happening.
Would like him to be our striker option but be surprised if we're paying that much for anyone this summer.

Good player and has done well to cope with the pressure of being a big money signing at Napoli. But as a Nigerian, I'd take Emmanuel Dennis over him due to his comparative weakness in build up.
Its Napoli.. They are constantly trying to sell their players at overinflated values.. No one bites..
Not just Napoli.. there are a few other Serie A clubs as well.
Belotti was 100m. Milinkovic Savic was the same.. Koulibaly is still looking for his 100m move.

Not that different from Lukaku on the ball, but Oshimen is a lot better off the ball. Plays with great intensity. Makes a huge difference.
Osimhen is a better player, which a much higher ceiling. I think Dennis had a bit of a freak season and will find it very hard to replicate.
He’s struggled with injury but he’s been good.
My issue with Osimhen is similar to Nunez. Technically average at best.
Think he would be a really good fit for arsenal - so hopefully they buy jesus instead
For anyone saying Napoli are inflating the fee — don’t forget they paid over €70m for him in the first instance!
I dont trust any of the numbers coming from Italy. Belotti was 100m, Koulibaly was 100m +, Savic was 100m.
I agree Oshimen is better, but I have been following Dennis's career for the past 3 years and I am not surprised by his output.
Bit different though this considering they paid 80m EUR for Osimhen in the first place
Much prefer Nunez for similar prices personally.

Everything about Osimhen is quite average. Not near elite level. Definitely not what we need. And that's coming from a fellow countryman.
It makes sense in that he works hard in the attacking positions and works in a high pressing system. Doesn't make sense because Nkunku is a lot cheaper and a margin better.

Same here. But I’m vary that it might not be that important. I think it tells us something that a striker as poor as Lukaku technically has been that popular by «top managers».
I think there is two possible explanations to why:
A) Being a striker actually dont (necessarily) demand that much from a player technically,
B) A striker is usually very little involved. At Bayern, under Pep, Lewandowski rarely had more than 3 % of the touches of the team total.
More than any other player, a striker is a tool. And in the modern game, pressing is a huge
part of the task for that tool. While a striker is rarely on the ball, he is off it, and close to the ball alot! With regard to running and pressong Oshimen and Nunez is both very good. But Oshimen is almost in a league of his own. And this, of course, is in stark contrast to someone like Lukaku.
In other words, if Oshimen has the potential to be a Lukaku that press like Cavani that is one hell of a striker.
I do agree with this. I accept that with strikers, numbers are far and away the most important. Haaland is the biggest example of this at the moment.

That being said, I’ve seen a lot of Haaland and in my opinion he is quite different from Lukaku technically. Actually reminds me alot of Nistelrooy. Great first touch.
He’s a real beast of a striker I think he’d do very well in the premier league, said before I’d want him here and he’s said he wants to be here. The price is a little high though..
I think he's very good. Not as many goals as someone like Haaland but for me he's one of the better all round strikers around. Really comes alive in the box and technically very solid.
But since Napoli already paid 80m for him, it shouldn't be a transfer for us. We need to move away from spending 100m on one player for a year or two and really focus on rebuilding our piss poor squad first with more 30m-50m players.

He’d be my choice of striker but I think the price will be too high purely based on what they paid originally.
They didn't really though. Napoli "paid" Lille €70m for Osimhen and in return Lille paid them €20m for four completely worthless players (three anonymous academy kids who were quickly loaned out to 3rd/4th division Italian sides, one backup 35 year old GK who hadn't played the previous season and went on to make one appearance for Lille before retiring) who had a value close to zero. It was one of these dodgy Italian FFP deals, like the Arthur-Pjanic swap. His real valuation in the deal was effectively €50m.
Its hard for me to see United buying any striker for huge money unless Ronaldo is leaving this summer.
What is it with Napoli and leaking crap to the press about REALLY not wanting to sell their players, but would be forced into it if someone pays a reasonable amount, a pittance really.
It didn't work with koulibaly, hasn't worked with Milinkovic-Savic and it won't work with Osimhen.
If they were somewhat realistic about their prices they'd have made some decent profits on all of the above, but they're greedy cnuts.

Nigerian posters are saying not to sign Osimhen and Uruguayan posters are saying not to sign Darwin… mad market with the prices. Could easily be Lukaku and Moratta all over again.

Jonathan David is not a bad shout
He is fantastic. Closest thing to Mbappe in the market, had he been playing for any European side, he’d be far more valued.
I like him too but Osimhen is better, but David is far more marketable.
