Victor Osimhen

I will be honest if I have not watched Osimhen or Gykores play (except the Sporting vs City match) in which he scored but he looked okay not amazing. The striker market seems like there are not many amazing options. I enjoy watching strikers like Isak and Martial those who can play and dribble and they are the hardest to contain. I am thinking maybe we should opt for Toney from Saudi. Or try Muembo (Brentford winger) and try him as a striker.

But for all those informed people who have watched them both, if given a chance which one of Osimhen and Gykores are better strikers in terms of holding up the play, pace, strength, linkup play and finishing?

Osimhen is pretty much just a pure finisher. We could definitely use someone like him only if we surround him with good creativity. Him in front of Cunha and Mbuemo with Amad RWB and Bruno CM would likely work.

Mbuemo couldn’t really be a striker as I think he’s 5’7/5’8.

Gyokeres is probably the better of the two in terms of play, pace, link up and maybe finishing. But he’s also only really shown this in Portugal.
 
I think iOsimhem wants £400k a week.No club outside of Middle East is going to pay that and I don’t think he wants to go there.

If we get Rashford and Sancho off our payroll there is room to pay him £300k a week which would put him alongside Bruno as one of our top earners and he’d guarantee 20-30 goals a season.

I’d also be OK with Gyokores and if we qualify for champions league he’d probably join us.

Delap may be the best we can do if we don’t qualify champions league but he shouldn’t be our first choice just because he’s young and cheap and Wilcox knows him from his city days.

200k for me, which is the same as De Ligt, with additional performance bonuses on top.

Nobody should be coming into this club and straight away earning more than or equal to Bruno until they prove their class, consistency and earn the right to be in the top band of earners in the squad.

Of course we are still in the process of cleaning house and have the likes of Mount, Rashford, Casemiro (and depending on who you ask Sancho) earning more than this, but hopefully by this time in 2 years we'll have weeded out all of these outliers and sorted the wage structure for good.

If you're after a striker in the Isak mould, then I don't think either are the answer. Hugo Ekitike is the player you are after.

Osimhen and Gyokeres are quite similar in the sense that they are both box strikers who aggressively run the channels. Osimhen is faster and better in the air by some margin, whereas Gyokeres probably has more to his game with the ball at his feet, but both are great finishers in their own way.
 
Osimhen’s just got bagsman aura about him. Beast in the air — fast, strong, presses like crazy. Some of that stuff you just can’t teach to a no.9. I don’t think it’ll happen because we no longer swim in those big salary pools, but he would be my first choice by some distance.

I don't think there is much in it speed wise, neither are lightning.

Yeah he definitely has that aura about him, however like you say those days of us paying big salaries are long gone
 
Seems to me that we’re happy looking elsewhere unless he tells us he’ll accept sub 200k. We’ve at least made it public via Ornstein that we aren’t interested, presumably at the current asking price.

Maybe Sterling might come into play, it’s still stronger than the Monopoly money that is the euro. A couple of good bonuses and we might have a beast on our books

The decision comes down to if he is only going to prioritize money which is the indication that he has given.

He came close to moving to Saudi last year before that broke down due to negotiations with Napoli. This year he was identified as the marquee signing for Al Hilal if they were not able to land Mo Salah who is of course the dream transfer for everyone in the Saudi Pro League. Mo having extended at Liverpool clears the path and the finances are not expected to be an issue as Al Hilal are meant to be willing to meet the release clause this time around and can offer personal terms far beyond anything any European club would be willing to consider.

The only way Osimhen becomes a consideration for us or anyone else in Europe is if between now and the transfer window opening something were to change with the Saudi plans. I think our brief that we were not considering Osimhen was very much like me telling my mates that I didn't want to date Margot Robbie anyway.

no way you really think about this, next season we are still around 14-16 on the table if we stick with Hojlund

a striker is a MUST, whoever between delap gyokeres schick thuram or retegui will obviously help

Hojlund is not only lack of goals, his overall contribution to the team is poor.. his performance gets better at the end of season but still way off the level United require

Poor movement, poor duel, poor decision making, poor understanding, his only good fundamental i see is his shooting ability, which he could hardly utilize due to his poor movement.. don't mind if United sell or loan him out next season

He ain’t guaranteeing you that many goals mate. He’s got over 20 once in an arguably far weaker league than the PL.

My personal preference would be:

1. Gyokeres
2. Sesko
3. Delap
4. Osimhen

The first three are 'power forwards' who can take the ball, turn and run at the opposition with skill and power. They can also hold up play well and bring in others, whereas Osimhen is more like Haaland in that he's a pure striker and needs top players around him who can cross and put him through on goal... So not a good fit for United.

I like Hugo Ekitike and Johnathan David, would be happy if we got either but I've no idea how much they would cost.

According to SSN last night there are a number of Prem clubs along with Inter and Juventus looking at David
