Victor Osimhen

I suppose I'm old school and remember United's most successful teams having more strikers competing for a starting place than we had a position for.

Yorke, Cole, Sheringham, Solksjaer

Ruud, Smith, Saha, Rooney

Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Saha

Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov, Ronaldo

Rooney, Berbatov, Chicharito, Robin Van Persie, Welbeck

Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Rashford, Martial

Gosh, when I just list a couple of these groups out like that which won trophies it's kind of jarring to think of this last season and this next one without more fire power

Berbatov and Van Persie were not in the same team.

To be honest a lot of it's just formation.

The best Utd sides would have 3 or 4 players who could get over 15 goals a season. If we go into next season with Gyokeres, Mbuemo, Cunha, Bruno and even Amad who could potentially do so.

Obviously this isn't saying we will be as good as great Utd sides. Just pointing out it's more important to just gave goalscorers.

Add to that the best Utd sides had a good midfield and keeper. It would be near impossible for us to go into the season with those things if we signed both strikers for big fees.

Buying 2 players for huge money in a position we only play 1 player in would be a bad move right now given our needs elsewhere and financial issues. It would also definitely lead to issues with either 1 or both players being unhappy whilst on huge wages.

Zirkee is who I'd prefer keeping between him and Hojlund since he's actually a decent footballer just not a striker, but if thats what it takes to bring in an Osimhen...

I was always for bringing in 2 strikers if we could ship out both Hojlund and Zirkzee. Zirkzee is more sellable due to his lower book value, Hojlund might need a loan but as long as they're both gone.

The 2nd striker that we sign does not have to be huge money as he's only back up - just someone who might actually score a premier league goal every once in a while would be an improvement on Hojlund and Zirkzee.

If he doesn't want to play for United, but does it anyway in order to gain as much exposure as possible for his charitable work, then yes. He would be whoring himself for exposure. You can most definitely prioritize more than one thing.

Whoring:
the unworthy or corrupt use of one's talents for personal or financial gain.

Prioritize:
designate or treat (something) as more important than other things.

Words do have meanings and I use them accurately.
He’s doing it for charity gain, not for personal or financial.
So, you missed that one.

I understand the difference between prioritizing and a priority. There’s a big difference there

I can’t see anything in Zirkzee’s game that suggests Napoli would be interested in him. Does he genuinely strengthen a Serie A winning side? Not at all IMO. Therefore I’m unconvinced there is any substance to this tweet.

With gyorekes seemingly not coming and United not being interested in this guy; it’s looking bleak in the striker department

He would, yes. He can do everything Lukaku does, better than Lukaku

Hope we can find the means to sign him. Heading ability is very important in PL. As of now, we don't have any threat from our attacking players in heading. Maguire was put there as emergency striker due to his heading ability. But we need to have this threat consistently for the entire game and not just under emergency situation.

Offer him 200k/w take it or leave it
And why he would accept that? Top players have their price and they know how much they worth. He knows that he can get 300-350k elsewhere.
If you are a club who can't or don't want to pay that then you switch focus to those who you can afford.

Where apart from Saudi Arabia? It seems no one will pay that much inside of europe.

Reports are that he turned down Saudi and Galatasaray are offering him 16M EUR (300k p/w). INEOS seem to like a wage structure with lots of bonuses in them and lower base pay, so maybe they can get close with CL bonus, apps, goals etc.

He did turned down a 45M Euro per year salary from Saudi. So money is not his main motivation. If he wants to join us I think the salary can be negotiable.

The list of clubs looking for a striker and also able to pay those wages is pretty short. He may not get an offer at that level.

I just don't know what to believe with our search for a striker. We briefed that we didn't want Osimhen and had Delap as our nailed down first choice. He then went elsewhere so we decided to chase someone much better instead. Then Sporting's president got greedy, so now we're apparently back in for Osimhen?

So maybe the moral of the story is don’t believe everything you read online?

We were never in for Osimhen and outside of rubbish sources we still are not. Some pretty good sources such as The Athletic say that Amorim likes Gyokeres but that is notable for the fact that it does not say the club are interested just that his former manager likes him. Sporting say no offer has even been received for Gyokeres yet so the conclusion would seem to be that we want to sort out the Mbuemo deal first and provided that is successful we will then decide on our next priority. I would guess how much luck we have with outgoing deals will have some bearing on what we do next too. We seem to have the money for 2 decent deals before sales so depending on what we can raise that might mean anything from 1 more signing to 2 or 3 more signings after Mbuemo, hopefully the latter.

He is already earning €10Mnet (12 with bonuses) as we speak at Napoli. 10/12M net is the equivalent of a gross salary of £300K-360k /week.... It is rumored he will not even speak to a club offering a base salary lower than that.

The only credible source I have heard about a European club offering him this kind of money was Juventus before they sacked their DoF. But it is doubtful they can afford his fees or his wages without first shifting Vlahović. Gotta remember that his release clause of 75M is only valid for non-Italian clubs (meant to exclude Juve... Other Italian clubs can't pay this kind of money anyway).

Really?

I cant imagine KDB is going to Napoli and getting paid peanuts.

KDB will earn less than 30% of his previous wage at City... And he is coming on a free, no fees involved.

Do you belive Rashy will be offered to them on a free or that he will take half his current salary ?

Surely he must be aware what offside is as a professional footballer?
Whoscored interpretation based on stats can be misleading.

They have Salah “Holding on to the ball : Very weak”, and McTominay “Finishing: Weak”.

For a forward that make plenty of run in behind the defense, “Offside Awareness: Weak” from raw stats misinterpretation is not that a concerning stats. Mbappe is “very weak” in this aspect. I doubt managers would try to change his game when the benefit way outweighs failure.

Yeah was only coming from toxic stand and Graeme Bailey which just about says it all about lack of validity

Would give up zirkzee or garnacho for Osimhen
Garnacho all day, I believe with better players around in final 3rd Zirkzee will thrive this year.

He actually looks quality and has shown great technical abilities in a strong league. Nutmegs players for fun.

I think it’s fair to give him some time to settle.

Easy to say that, but where in reality? Doesn't seem like there's a long line of suitors willing to pay that. Which clubs specifically do you actually think are prepared to pay him 300k plus per week?
