Victor Osimhen

Been said all long that he has some kind of understanding with Juventus... But Napoli doesn’t have to sell to Juve, the clause is only valid for foreign clubs. I would rather see that than him going to Liverpool.

I expect this to drag on until late August…

Yeah Juve definitely fine compared to scousers, Whitwell just reiterated that Utd feel wages too high so non starter

Arsenal bagging Gyokeres should be our wake up call. Osimhen's available for around £64m compared to Gyokeres' £69m fee – and he's a proven elite striker. He smashed 37 goals last season, his physical style is perfect for the Prem, and he's actually keen on the move. With Napoli desperate to sell, we should act asap. He's the instant, world class #9 we desperately need. Missing out because we dragged our heels would be a disaster.

I don't know of any other striker we should get, Sesko and Ekitike are not prolific and seem a bit of Hojlund signing in that there is "potential" so is a bit of a gamble

If the club feel the same we should wait until next Summer and the right target will come up, or we may have someone in the academy who is knocking on the door. We need to think long term rather than just ‘we need a striker so let’s settle for whatever’s out there’. You can’t convince me Osimhen is the next great United number 9, even if shit on a stick is better than Hojlund. I bet he’s more trouble than he’s worth.

How is Osihmen not long term? He's only 26.

It's not settling, he's a brilliant striker, has a history of scoring goals every season, exactly what we need.

Also how can you say wait until next summer when our main problem this year was scoring goals, this makes no sense.

Now that Gyokeres is finally off can we not do some sort of swap with Garnacho?

Gyokeres reminds me of EtH obsession of FdJ. Cmon, Ruben that boat has sailed can we move on?

Waiting is silly. Get Mateta if we can't get anyone longer term. We can't keep putting ourselves in a position where we do not have the players to score goals.

Agree with this.

It does appear the most perfect profile of a striker is just sitting there waiting. I’m not sure quite what we are playing at.

We're not even interested in Osihmen according to the reliable journalists, plus, we don't even have the money for him either.

Surely if we could make some headway with offloading Garnacho (the one who could return a very reasonable fee) and Rashford/Sancho (wages) and assuming we aren’t too dependent on that already for offsetting the potential Mbeumo arrival (lots of assumptions, I know) then we’d be in a better position for it.

It would be a hell of a statement signing too and the guy seems ready-made for the Prem, in a way that Gyokeres, Sesko, Ekitke and co all seem higher-risk. Plus he’s not pushing 30 like Watkins.

I think INEOS is trying to get away from the galaticos-type signing. They rather develop them I guess.
He’s the same age profile as Cunha and Mbeumo and he spent the past season in Turkey. I’m not sure that constitutes a “galacticos-type” signing or why they would be put off by the circumstances, especially if there is any truth to us being in for Watkins.

I've been waiting for this thread to come alive. The nay sayers here can do one he is exactly the unpredictable machine that we need. What a statement signing this would be after Mbeumo!

Osimhen, Cunha and Mbeumo would be a helluva front three.

Until he signs for someone else or we sign a high profile no 9, the Muppet in me will still have hope....

Probably waiting to get Rashford’s wages off the books to free up the budget for Osimhems wages

We need Osimhen now more than ever. We need a CF that’s going to scare teams. It’s pretty simple.

Christ I have we do a u turn in this or we’re fecked. Number 9 should have been our priority this summer

What are you basing your assumptions on?
His track record as a goalscorer is plain to see. He’s younger than Gyokeres and arguably has more to his game, including heading ability.

I think Osimhen makes a lot of sense, considering the money we have wasted on potential/signings for the future already eg Hojlund and Antony.

Yeah and Osimhen is a far more dynamic player than Gyokeres.

Cunha Osimhen and Mbeumo would be too good to be true though sadly

I think Castles was talking about the +1 year option on his contract, can't remember exactly, something along the lines of if triggered he'd get a substantial percentage of any transfer fee or a wage hike.

Anyhow, strange to see no major clubs in for him (i.e. clubs currently at the peak of their powers).

Ornstein has said twice now that he's not heard anything about us being interested in Osihmen. Let it go man, its not happening.
Yeah never been on since Ornstein wrote it off way back in April, ok so turns out Buchi Laba who is talking this up is considered tier 1 for Nigerian players and Galatasaray.

On liverpools shortlist, so why not ours?

Liverpool have a lot of money to spend, we have next to nothing.

Liverpool have Champions League football to offer, we don't.

Liverpool can pay higher wages.

Liverpool have a squad of top players ready to challenge for all honours, we have a squad of mid table players who might well be in a relegation fight.

The gap between United and Liverpool is becoming a canyon. It'll be a long, long time before we're challenging them for signings again.

This ! And it hurt’s my heart and surlely all United fan ..

I hope we prepare a bid soon. Should take another month while we negotiate for Mbeumo!

What a load of nonsense reporting there is

He has said both yes and no to Galatasaray, he has agreed to come to United, and he is on the way to Chelsea Liverpool and Juventus

And that's all in the same.day

United have spent a month on Mbeumo so far, and no sign of certain exits yet either. Better get a move on if they think they've got a serious chance with this

Surely there's something we can do here with Garnacho and agent McTominay.
