Viktor Gyökeres - Arsenal Player

Not a great player but if he scores close to 20 goals....I guess that will do, sort of. Despite being limited, he is still finding a way of putting a few in. Fuether makes me wonder what we would be capable with a more capable player

I'm not sure who the guy is bigging up Gyokeres on Talksport's equivalent of soccer Saturday but he's claiming he's in the running for signing of the season...

The host then listed the teams he's scored against:
Leeds
Burnley
Forest
Sunderland
Everton

Put the game to bed today with 2 goals, he'll never be a superstar but he's definitely starting to click with Havertz, Martinelli and the team as a whole

His basic bully ways works better against tired legs and le'ts be honest, lower level defenders. We take what he can give us even if we all hoped for a lot more.

Yeah, he’s basically becoming the flat-track bully that I first feared we were signing.

This same guy just said "that's Arsenal, we're hated, adored, never ignored."

That's our line!

To be fair, before today Sunderland had the 3rd best defensive record, only behind us and Man City (they're now 6th)

What!!!??? My god, thats someone who doesn't actually watch football

"Monumental flop" to "flat-track bully" and "elite stat padder" in just a few days. 6 goals in 8 games. YLTSI.

8 g/a in last 8 games. He's improving, still not amazing but looks a bit faster. Havertz helps him too I feel

Killing off games against the mid and lower table teams has been an issue for us in recent years, particularly last season.

It looks like he’s gonna end up a rotation option who bags 20+ goals in all comps. We overpaid a bit for that due to his age, but it’s not the end of the world.

Even when he scores his finishes are shit. Just watched the first he scored - feck me - criminal touch, slipped and lucked out

13 goals in 32 games. Not bad but not exactly Haaland or Kane levels. Obviously no one was expecting those numbers but it’s interesting that a lot of big money strikers haven’t settled as quickly as fans would have liked.

14th top scorer in the league, playing for the most dominant team in the league is definitely bad. And must be close to unprecedented?

It must be.

If they win the league, it won't dampen the celebrations and nor should it.

I can see him becoming a real hindrance with better teams as competition, though.

Just feels like there aren't many top class strikers about.

Hopefully Sesko develops into one, he's raw but he's got something about him I think.

He's one goal off 6th place, it's not as drastic as it sounds. He's joint 9th, but I guess he's officially 14th because of xG? I don't know? He's dead on with his xG and the ones above are outperforming theirs. There's tons of players on the same goals. Sesko is 44th.

It's:

Haaland
Thiago

Semenyo
and then the rest of the league

Sesko isn't playing for the team top of the league

I personally still don’t rate him but he’s doing well at the moment you’ll have to give him that. I also agree Arsenal won’t care the slightest as long as they win the league however.

Said at the start of the season he should be playing off Havertz. He looks extremely threatening in the channels and a fish out of water when back to goal, through the centre.

Delap has had his issues and is probably not a huge name like some of the others but I think he made a crappy career choice with Chelsea and is struggling too. The difference between a Haaland/Kane and the rest is stark.

Those are the games Arsenal 'needed to sign a centre forward' for.

Sesko has 2 goals less than Gyok (which is how many penalties Gyokeres scored), having played 500 minutes less. In my opinion, Sesko would be brilliant for Arsenal, glad we got him.
Seskos goals have all been fairly important in context of games too. Equalisers, winners, or pulling a goal back. The only “stat pad” type goal was Sunderland home for 2-0.

Been a terrible signing. Even the goals he has scored has essentially been tap ins and penalties - a far cry from what he did in Portugal (shows you the difference in quality).

The quality of goals too. Most of Sesko's goals were brilliant finishes from half chance.

Granted I only watched the last 30 minutes or so, but he had a couple of decent touches that turned into dangerous situations for Arsenal. Very out of character for him.

I mean, it helps if we give him chances. He was linking up well with Havertz and Martinelli and he started scoring. Hard to score yesterday when I don't think we put him through once.

I'll never forget how obsessed people here were in the summer. He's right being clowned, but if it were up to a load of you here, we'd have been saddled with him because he was a proven goalscorer or something. Although he turned us down in the end didn't he? Fortunate. Same with Delap, feck me. Some bullets dodged.

Could you imagine the constant stories of failure if he ends up at us?

So glad we avoided him.

Will likely finish the leading scorer for the team that wins the league that's not a bad 1st season really

His goals alone dont tell the full story. He's been poor, especially playing for a side that is top of the league. A good example of what I mean is Didier Drogba, he scored 10 and 12 league goals in his first 2 season's with Chelsea. Not a lot we can all agree, but his impact on that Chelsea team was immense (They won the league both seasons) - Gyokeres just hasnt had that type of impact, regardless of how many goals he's scored.
