They then discuss all the latest transfer rumours and get into the potential ins and outs this summer at Old Trafford.
Think he ends up at Arsenal in the end. That or he doesn’t get a move. But think it makes loads of sense for Arsenal and don’t get why they aren’t doing this.
Most likely as many reported, the deal is unlikely for us and the player prefer Arsenal. Hope they sort things out.
We should focus on Mbeumo who from day one made it clear that he only wants to play for us. Same with Cunha. We should go for player that put us as priority and really want to play for the club.
Was probably Agent forcing €60m narrative and when it dawned on all €80m is what's needed things slowed down. This will maybe get done later in the striker market Domino
I already mentioned this in another post, I have been watching Leon since we signed him in January and expect him to be starting ahead of Dorgu midway through the season. He is a little sloppy at the moment but he as far more weapons on him than Dorgu. I remember People laughing at Alex Buttner, but then look at the signing of Malacia and Dorgu and wonder what anyone saw in those 2 signings.

From what I have seen of Leon so far, he will be a great signing.....in time. He is a little sloppy at the moment but has far more to him than Dorgu. He can actually put in decent cross. Amass, I think the jury is out on him. He needs a few loans to see if he is up to scratch. Dorgu, I just do not see anything to think that he will be a useful addition to the team. He is tough and athletic, I will give him that but he is so raw that it puzzles me why we signed him in the first place.

I don't think this one is dead for us, I still think Arsenal more likely to end up with Sesko. It's just whether United spit their dummy out that we aren't Gyokeres' favoured club and we look elsewhere. I think we'll still be more than willing to sign him if Arsenal sign someone else.

He has seemed to be their #1 target all along. Not that it would matter in our case. If we put in a bid for him and Sporting accept, he would be ours.
What happened to 'we only sign players who want to play for us'? His first choice was Arsenal.
I don't understand why all these name like Gyokeres, Cunha, Mbeumo or Ekitite link to Arsenal at all. Arsenal this summer need a DM (Zubimendi), a backup goalie (Kepa), a striker (Sesko). The targets are very clear. Now Thomas Partey may not renew so Arteta may need another defensive midfielder. Arsenal will agree a fee with Leipzig and I don't see Arteta move to other target for 10m euros.

Well, a silly season update from sunny Portugal.
SIC Notícias, the news channel for one of our broadcasters, said two things in the past hours.
First, that Centikaya doesn't have any sort of document from Sporting promising a deal for specific values. (no surprise here for me, if he had it he would have shown it a LONG time ago).
Second, apparently Gyökeres's contract with his agent is about to expire, and that's probably why he's trying to get a deal done as fast as possible.
A third report, from another channel, said that Jorge Mendes is now involved in the situation.
This guy has an uncanny ability to wriggle into every big deal from Portugal. I learned that he was involved in the Bebe deal to United too at the last minute and netted himself a decent sized commission for his efforts. I think he made his way into the Ugarte / Yoro deals as well.
I hope this is true and the Mendes relationship means we get a leg up on Gyokeres.

That's not what Romano said. He said a source at United told him they think he is prioritizing Arsenal, which for all we know could be true or not true or an attempt by someone at United to lower public expectations about signing Gyokeres as a negotiating tactic with Sporting. Without an actual quote, it has no legitimacy imo.
If the thing about the agent contract is true, Mendes might be swooping in to take over.

Fabrizio Romano and The Times's Paul Hirst both confirmed that Viktor Gyokeres had chosen to join Arsenal this summer instead of Manchester United.

Until we see a quote from the player or some movement from one of the clubs in terms of agreeing personal terms or a transfer fee, it’s all just speculation. Journalists are wrong a majority of the time on transfers so take it with a pinch of salt.
He hasn't chosen to join anyone at this point. Nobody has had a bid accepted or even made one.
Everything seems to point to him 'referring' Arsenal. Which is totally reasonable. But if Arsenal sign Sesko or can't agree a fee with Sporting and move on, then there's no Arsenal to prefer.
If both clubs have a big accepted, it does seem he'd choose Arsenal but none of that had happened so I'd expect we woild retain an interested, in the event that Arsenal don't push forward/drop out/never bid/sign someone else etc
Chosen is probably the wrong word seeing as no bid has been accepted by Sporting and the main story seems to be Arsenal want Sesko and Gyokeres could be their other choice

There's nothing public, but like I pointed out earlier this week, his instagram post was strange.
"There is a lot of talk at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right."
Fabrizio was quick to claim this was directed at Sporting's president, but the president only spoke once when he denied there ever was a gentleman's agreement for any value.
Seems strange to say "most of it is false" when Sporting only said one thing, so is it possible he's referring to his contract expiring soon as "when the time is right?"
What I do know is that Centikaya has a reputation in Sweden, so it wouldn't surprise me if, now that Viktor has so much visibility and interest, that he's interesteed in better representation.

I'm getting a bit worried on the ST front only because we're only 31 days till our first preseason game and we still haven't had more concrete answers for our ST position. Didn't they want to have a majority of their moves done before the US tour? I don't think Amorim can really afford a preseason where his main striker isn't part of it. I know we still have to sell players to buy more but I hope we don't get dither for too long and end up having to make a move on the last few days of the transfer window
I’m not particularly bothered - 18 days in and we know we have to sell at least one player to get our #9. Also, all of the top strikers are still available and it seems only United and Arsenal are publicly in the market for one, so I’m sure we will sort it out in the next 30 days or so. If it ends up being Gyokeres, he won’t need much time to hit the ground running since he’s already familiar with the coaching staff and formation.
Maybe since we can't buy a striker without selling, we're just letting things play out and if Sesko does go to Arsenal, you'd imagine with no other suiters, Sporting will eventually accept our initial offer or slightly improved offer, as there's no way Gyokeres can stay and play at Sporting after all the latest transfer/release clause dramas.
That would also put him with Frenkie De Jong that is represented by Cetinkaya & HCM. He is also trying to cancel his contract.

I still got PTSD from the Frenkie De Jong transfer. Let's just walk away and focus on other targets. I feel with Cunha, Mbeumo and Bruno in our team, we can probably make do without signing a striker for this season. We probably don't have enough money to sign a striker, could just use whatever is left of our budget to get a new goal keeper or a midfielder.
But, there is something seriously wrong with the squad still, when no one suggests that our striker might actually score a goal. We are relying on the midfield and defence to make up the goal count every time.

I would laugh if it weren't true. But that's the reality of it. I'm assuming we only have a limited amount of money. I rather we spend the upper limit price for a world class keeper than shop at the bargain corner of the strikers market.
Reminds of me of this Conte's quote, unfortunately we have issues with both end and only so much we can spend to fix it.
