Viktor Gyökeres | Ornstein: Deal worth €63.5m guaranteed + €10m add-ons. Agent waives fee

I like the fact that some people are confident he won’t come here. The first thing that happened was Rueben has phoned him
And asked him.

“Hi Victor how you doing it’s Rueben, how you been, how’s the wife and kids, blah blah blah. So would you fancy coming to UTD with me?”

At the end of the day they are ex colleagues and on very good terms. Reuben will know before we speak to anyone.
It’s pretty clear, that any player would weigh up his options. Players really aren’t that close with managers.

If we are pursuing him, then clearly we have an indication that he’s willing to join, under the right circumstances, and if conditions are met.

Doesn’t mean we have a free run at him.

I’m not saying that we have a free run but if he wasn’t interested we wouldn’t bother. Reuben will 100% have spoken to him.

That's wildly optimistic. For starters, Bruno hasn't scored more than 10 league goals for the past 4 seasons.

If we mbuemo and gyokeres I except around 12 and 20 goals respectively.
OP on this was for all comps. If that was just in the league I’d be living in cloud cuckoo land for sure.

question begs...if we land mbuemo with cunha, do we have to sell before being able to purchase gyokeres?

Viktor Gyökeres - 28 goals
Brian Mbuemo - 16 goals
Matheus Cuhha - 12 goals
Bruno Fernandes - 13 goals

Agree, something like this feels slightly more realistic and I would consider this a pretty successful outcome.

Whoa! This is as realistic as [insert Scarlett Johansson joke].

Not impossible, just fiercely bullish. We haven’t scored over 70 goals but twice in the last 15 years, and all of the sudden our attack becomes MSN Barcelona?

Not likely.

The consensus seems that Bruno wouldn’t relinquish penalties to give his team’s new striker a bit of a confidence boost (should we sign him).

Why? If he’s the leader that people say he is, surely he would?

Depends if points are on the line I suspect.

The only downside to this is that little weasel Goldbridge is going to come out as some hugely credible source.

The good news is everyone is losing their minds over the fact United are going all in to fix their goalscoring issues by bringing in Cunha, Mbeumo and Gyokeres. Whether it works is another matter, but it’s absolutely the right strategy.

I’m talking all comps not just league.
Its not impossible in an extremely attacking system and a lot of games (60+) but we're not in Europe next year and the system is not an attacking system.

is that in all comps??? sure as hell wouldn't be just in the league

Still only marginally less fanciful, I suspect. The Mbeumo number in particular looks dubious.

We also have no European football to pad out the numbers.

Hopefully he does better than Anthony anyway and is cut out for the premier league.

I'd be happy to honour a £10 bet for charity a charity of someones choice that even if we get top 4, those 4 won't score more than 55 in all comps combined.

Not sure why people make all comp predictions when there’s so many variables in the cup tournaments. Just stick to the PL.

70+ might be a stretch, but not by much. It should be entirely possible for a team that is fully rested for every league game to do this. Especially if you replace the entire front three with proven goalscorers. If you take one of the best 10s in the league, combine him with one of the most efficent scorers and assist makers in the league and stick the highest scoring player in Europe up top all being fed by the player who consistently creates the most chances in Europe, it shouldn't be impossible to reach those numbers in the league.

We are just used to recruiting badly, so we don't see how 200M could possibly help transform an attack.

Would assume that selling Garnacho would cover that. We are also potentially going to get a few sell on fees in this window. Carrerras is going to net around 8M if the transfer to Real Madrid goes ahead, we have a sell on for Elanga who is attracting interest from Newcastle, Oyedele will net around 2M for his move and we also have sells ons for Charlie Savage and Teden Mengi who are both heavily linked with moves with Wrexham after Savage and Mengi linked to Burnley and Sunderland.

I wish we would just do the deals rather than have these drawn out blimmin public sagas. Initial approaches via third parties then formal then a rejected bid then blah Di blah. Just do it!!

Villa keeper. I know Onana’s terrible but replacing him with an over the hill Martinez is hardly something to be excited about. Hopefully the club have better keepers in mind.
Has there been any concrete links?

Some of you on here are fecking soothsayers, with your predictions of what he will, or won't he score. It's just tiresome shit.

I bet you any money in the world that of the players that did score 20 in the PL, who came from another league, you didn't call a single fecking one ahead of time. That's just the way it is. Everyone's got their prophecy caps on and prophesying future events with absolute certainty, and really, you're just armchair casuals with an emotional meal and a side order of hubris.

Have you had too much internet today?

Personally, I don't think it necessarily does, depending on the credibility of the £100/120m transfer kitty, and whether any of those funds are needed to go towards previous deals.

So you would bet any money in the world that no one predicted Erling Haaland would score 20 goal in the prem when he signed for city?

If Cunha and Mbeumo end up with less than 10 goals each that’ll be disappointing given the cost of both.
They’ll score 20+ between then. But if we get Gyokeres then they may score less and they’ll be creating a lot

This will be frenkie de Jong part 2. Going after a target that is unlikely to come here
De jong loved life at Barcelona, a nice city and one of the best clubs in the world. No club was going to lure him away, regardless.
Gyökeres is not going to miss out on this chance to play for a big club in a big league. He is red hot and still not considered too old. A few bigger clubs will try to find a younger striker with higher potential with regards to the technical level. If we are well and truly in for him, we have a big chance to get him. Could not be further away from a endless de jong saga.

Wouldn't get my hopes up on this, we will need to sell three or four dossers before moving for him.
