Viktor Gyökeres | Ornstein: Player doesn't intend on returning to Sporting pre-season. 5-year Arsenal deal ready subject to fee being agreed.

Apparently Gyokeres preference is arsenal over Utd. Arsenal are hamstrung in Sesko bid due to transfer price and wierd clause Sesko is asking for. He wants a release clause from arsenal that is not in excess of 20% of the transfer fee paid by arsenal.

Basically using arsenal as a stepping stone. abit insulting.

anyway gyokeres civil war with his president continues. verbally told €60mil + €10. Sporting now saying €80mil minimum.

duncan castles on his "transfers" podcast.

If true, I can see why Arsenal wouldn’t agree to that clause.

Not sure if it was posted here already but here's a video of him playing against us during covid, funny how things work out:

That's outright disrespectful when signing for a big club. If I were Arsenal's negotiating team, no way would I agree to that or anything like it

Thats really cheeky by Sesko. So basically Sesko wants Real Madrid. Gykorez wants Arsenal. Ekitike wants United. And Osihmen just wants the cash

Isn't it funny when Duncan Castles gives any info that isn't positive about United’s transfers, he's a bullshitter, but people are willing to believe the Sesko release clause story because it's negative about Arsenal.

I think he's very clearly well connected by the way. He had Gyokeres pushing for Arsenal like a week before Record and Romano ran that story. I thought claiming he knows nothing would have died when he broke the Ole getting sacked story, but people have short memories. I don't think he has that kind of boardroom level info for United anymore though given personnel changes at the club since.

He is a massive bellend though. That can't be denied. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have good contacts.

Do you think he ends up at Arsenal or Utd, mind you apparently Crook from Talkshite says he had received a text and Gyokeres circle says he will be joining Arsenal.
I think it all depends on what Arsenal do.
It's clear to me Arsenal prefer Sesko but don't want to match Leipzig's price.
If that's true I don't know how they expect to get Viktor if they also don't want to match Sporting's price.
If the Sesko deal happens, I think United are the best option for Viktor.
He took a long time showing us what he can do, and Amorim was a big part of that. Going with another manager might mean he doesn't get used as well. Again.

If there's a war, it's between the agent and Sporting not Viktor. Centikaya has been going on about a supposed "gentleman's agreement" for weeks now, and that was flatly denied by Sporting's president.
He's now changed his story saying it was Hugo Viana, who left for in January, that okay'd that deal. He has also claimed on multiple occasions that he has a signed document, but hasn't produced it yet (I wonder why... ).

Anyway, there's now rumours that the agent representation contract is about to expire, which would explain why the agent is so desperate to get a move quickly.

There's a post a few pages back where I quote what Frederico Varandas, Sporting's president, said.
The agent was very insistant in getting a meeting with the president.
In that meeting he asked if Sporting were going to hold out for the release clause, to which Varandas said no, since he doubted a 27 year old from the Portuguese League could go for 100 million, even 90 million.
The agent then tried very hard to get Varandas to commit to a number (mind you this was probably in September), to which Varandas said he couldn't do that because there was no way of knowing what Viktor's value would be almost a year in the future.
He also said flat out that Viktor would not be transferred for 60M+10M, which kind of hints at the numbers Sporting are asking for.
70 is a flat no, 100 or 90 is too much.
80 million euros seem to be the sweet spot.

I think Arsenal are playing Gyokeres to get the price they want for Sesko. Which they can do as their doesn't seem to be other clubs that want to take Sesko.

And i find it hard to believe that with Arsenal seemingly still making their mind up, that Gyokeres, or his agent, would release news to say they "prefer" Arsenal. That doesn't serve them well, at all, should the move not materialise. Feels like that could be coming from the Arsenal side to give Sekso and RB Leipzig a nudge.

It has been reported by multiple jornos that Andrea Berta likes to agree several deals, then make the pick, so could he be lining up both Gyokeres and Sesko at the same time?

Or i could be totally wrong and Gyokeres has been assured that he will be signed by Arsenal and the deal gets done when the window opens again.

Nah it's just media bollocks. Once they report interest in a player they then have to keep providing updates in order to maintain clicks and pretend they're in the know.

I think the group of strikers reported to be of value to PL clubs will all likely move late in the window.

I think you are right here. They have to find new ways to keep talking about these names.

I hope he ends up at Arsenal or stay at Sporting. I really don't see a 80M player in him especially at 27 years old and will be demanding high salary. Dont we learnt the lesson from Casemeiro? Even Varane and etc.

Prefer stay at Sporting out of those

I know that i am (kind of) obsessed with technique but his technique is pretty average, isn't it? I don't expect Isak or Kane level technique in every attacker but this guy is pretty average.

I reckon he will be staying at Sporting this season. Hes overpriced at 80m

He has got to be better than Rasmus BUTTTTTT idk why we’d spend this on him but not oshimen who is more proven and can teach Obi… we need a veteran to handle the pressure of United.

Just not sure about him

And the fact that literally no other clubs were interested in Cunha. So he had no other choice, and according to the press his 120.000 a week salary at Wolves was increased to 200.000 in Manchester. This is enough on it's own to sign for United, and on top of that Wolves were one of the few clubs which finished actually below us on the table... So compared to Wolves, even this United is a step forward, especially financially.
Cunha salary at wolves was 90k not 120k, mbuemo salary is 43k, so you know why they are keen to join united.....they are opportunist and smart like casimero, varane, sanchez...

After seeing Benfica and Porto struggle is anyome else worried that Gyokeres will flop?

Wrong. Nobody wants Utd in these current times. And if they do, it’s for salary reasons.

Ekitike is destined to go to Pool unless they pull the trigger on the more fully finished model (Isak)

Of course, I am a Swede and Isak is obviously the better player, maybe much better. I prefer Osimhen but he is also a risk, just like all transfers from abroad. I would still do Gyökeres at 60m.

Nope, ok the defending wasn't great in the Championship but he proved capable at Coventry. Showed that he could handle the physical nature of English football.

The concern I'd have is I don't know how high his ceiling is. He hasn't been overly prolific in Europe and Porto/Benfica are going through a rough patch. He won't flop, but for the fee and wages it's a gamble on whether he can justify it or just be an ordinary CF.

An ordinary CF is still a big step up from what we have.

Not really, worried, no. Hoping he flops is more accurate - if he comes to the Premier League, he'll be joining Arsenal.
Would make for a juicy opening day fixture if he did that...

Juicy up until he scores a brace on us

The story of the 60M promise is not true, on his contract if a club offers 60M Sporting will have to pay 6M to the agent, but Sporting's president said if a club offers 60M and the agent requests the 6M then Sporting pays to the agent and the player would leave only for 100M. Also I read somewhere Gyokeres wants Arsenal because Champion League but he never said no to United.
