How much would be the transfer fee? 70,80m?

If we sign him, how would we finance the striker, the midfield, and a goalkeeper?

The only clubs he’ll look at if he does leave are City and Bayern.

City with Haaland, KDB and Vinicious would be ridiculous.

Shift Rashford into the striker role for a season, sell Fred and Bailly for a combined £200 million. Simple.

Get it done
GPT-4: Ah, this is truly a novel idea and could lead to some very unique gameplay.

Formation: 4-1-2-1-1-1

Justification:

This formation gives a heavy focus on attacking from the left side, which can create a numerical advantage in that area, with a surprise element due to its uniqueness. The emphasis on the left side can be used to target the opponent's weaker flank or exploit a particularly strong group of left-sided players in the team.

Key Positions:

1. Back Four (4): They provide a solid base at the back, with the right back potentially having more freedom to go forward than usual, due to the heavy concentration of players on the left.

2. Defensive Midfielder (1): Positioned centrally, they provide cover to the defense and help control the pace of the game. They'll need to be tactically astute and have a good range of passing.

3. Central Midfielder (1): Positioned slightly further forward, they'll be crucial in creating link-up play with the left wingers and controlling the midfield.

4. Left Wingers (1-1-1): These players provide the key attacking threat in this formation. The deep winger provides width and sends crosses into the box, the central winger works in tandem with the central midfielder to control the game and can either send through balls or make runs into the box, and the forward winger is a more attacking player, functioning like a wide forward, looking to make darting runs into the box or cut inside and shoot.

5. Striker (1): Positioned up front, their primary job is to finish the attacks created primarily from the left side, either by heading crosses into the goal or following up on shots. They should be adept at finding pockets of space in the box and capitalizing on loose balls.

Revolutionising the Game:

1. Overloading One Flank: This formation will drastically change the dynamics of the game, overloading the left flank to create numerical superiority and opportunities for combination play.

2. Surprise Element: Due to its unique nature, this formation can surprise opponents and disrupt traditional defensive setups.

3. Midfield Control: Despite the emphasis on the left flank, the formation doesn't neglect central midfield control, with the defensive and central midfielders working together to dictate the flow of the game.

4. Versatility: The roles of the three left wingers can be interchangeable, leading to a fluid and unpredictable attacking system that can be hard to defend against.

5. Counterattacks: The heavy focus on one side could potentially leave space on the other side for quick counter-attacks, creating a new dynamic in terms of tactical balance.

The success of this formation would largely depend on the skill and understanding of the three left wingers. They would need to work in harmony, constantly interchanging and moving to create space and attacking opportunities. It could lead to a new way of thinking about positional play and the distribution of players on the pitch.

We should move heaven and earth to get him if he's available. Dream signing, for real this time.

I honestly think you have to sign him if he was available. Him and Rashford together would be insane on transitions.

Bit like Neymar I wouldn't get remotely excited about this one unless a reliable Madrid/Brazilian source reported interest

Didn’t realise he only had a year left on his contract….

Would have said no based on him being 150m+ and wingers/inside forwards not being a key position for us to buy for. Not that he wouldn’t walk in and be the best winger at the club, because he obviously would, just it would be hard to justify spending 150+ on a position we have players in when we are screaming out for a main 9, and a 6/8.

Hard to say no if the opportunity is real, he’s open to the move and does only have a year left but can we really be dropping still in the region of 100m and 350k+ a week on a left winger/inside forward?

It’s not even about “lol not your money why do you care” - aren’t we limited by FFP to a degree this next window? We can still spend obviously, but we couldn’t (and won’t anyway) do a 200m+ summer.

Would love him here, but perhaps not at the expense of a functional squad. You also need to consider his numbers are helped by the players around him, he’d come to United and have McToninay instead of Modric and Martial instead of Benzema. There’s far from a guarantee we’d be getting the 50 G/A player he is at Madrid where he has talent around him to play off and play in.

WOW didn't know he had only a year left on his deal either, maybe agents Casa & Rapha will get in his ear. We could then look to negotiate with him around January when he only has 6 months left.

Yeah we would definitely need to improve the midfield creativity to support him that's for sure

So, move Rashford as striker and play Vinicius as LW? Vinicius has triple more xA than Rashford.

In a team which had Vidic, Rio, Evans and Smalling; SAF tried to sign Varane right after signing Phil Jones.
It is a no brainer to get the best talent in their position when opportunity arises. Move Rashford to striker and keep Vini and Garnacho for main position as left wing and occasional right wing.
In this case, United can play Levy’s game till end of transfer window or even wait for Kane as free next year.

ST - Kane, Rashford
LW - Vini, Garnacho
RW - Antony

5 players for 3 position

Btw I don’t think Vini will be available.

If we're going for three down the left, surely we will be in for Mbappe as well - we have to have extra cover for three players.

Come to United Vini.

There are no racists in the UK.
Racists will be in every country, but imo In UK, racism is not tolerated or apologised. Online trolls can get away, definitely not ones who are caught in person on cctv/video.

To be clear, he's already signed an extension until 2027. On the equivalent of ~500k a week
